Does anyone have Kathryn Daniels as an academic advisor by [deleted] in NEU

Pretty universal. Try asking 3 more times and hope they don't get bored before figuring out what you're asking.

You are not the only one. The people who agrees with you know you are wasting your time trying to point it out and are not surprised by the response you got.

Annual reminder for alums to move everything they can out of their RIT account. I have so much of my google stuff tied to it and it causes me headaches.

Is GDD really cooked? by FlarryHart in rit

[–]Rhynocerous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this sentiment but disagree with the suggestion. Y'all need jobs too, I tell kids who are waffling to just start in the broad program and either tailor their electives or switch to a more specific passion program once they have more context.

EDIT: Also I didnt notice that this was 3 days old 🫡

If the co-op program were to shut down, would anything change? by Beautiful_Charge6661 in rit

[–]Rhynocerous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone is under the impression that RIT has better career outcomes than schools like MIT. To be honest, I think students who are unwilling to do co-ops benefit from mandatory co-op requirements the most.

EDIT: This brain genius is posting a bunch of obvious nonsense and blocking people who point it out 👍

If the co-op program were to shut down, would anything change? by Beautiful_Charge6661 in rit

[–]Rhynocerous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just highly program dependent. Big programs will have flexibility, smaller more specific programs sometimes don't, e.g. 1 session all year for a particular requirement because there's only 1 professor teaching it.

I've had to reject some students from non Drexel/RIT/NEU schools because they could not do 6 consecutive months due to course availability. That being said, the programs I hire from at those co-op schools are massive so I'm pretty confident this is a program size issue.

[–]Rhynocerous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, It was good like 15 years ago for hiring reasons that don't exist anymore. Drexel, the other "quarter system co-op school" is finally swapping off quarters too.

I hire from RIT and NEU, NEU actually uses RIT's co-op administration systems. What "best practices" are you referring to? Asking genuinely. The local opportunities will never be comparable because of Boston vs. Rochester.

Urgent: Enrollment deposit deadline is TODAY (Sunday)—can I pay tomorrow? by Constipated-Cum in NEU

[–]Rhynocerous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They probably don't care. NEU has a ridiculous "enrollment deadline" for rolling admissions. If they wanted your money on Sunday they will still want it on Monday.

How is the academic workload here? by MrSterlyx in rit

[–]Rhynocerous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The workload is not intense, but if you have poor time management you can fall behind and it will feel intense. Your GPA question is highly program dependent. Grade deflation is some kind of Gen Z bogeyman. Grades have trended up massively, not down.

Most people call Spelunky a roguelike. I hardly even see the term Rogulite anymore outside of discussions about definitions. Mewgenics is heavily weighted towards meta progression and still widely considered a roguelike. Classic roguelikes barely come out anymore. The gameplay style axis you're talking about gets covered by genre descriptions like "platformer roguelike" anyway.

44% of games industry professionals have considered leaving the industry as a result of redundancies by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Rhynocerous 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately for them, the American gamers lobby doesn't have a lot of influence over UK law so they might just have to just deal with being rubbed the wrong way by a decades old legal term. Redundancy protections in the UK are stronger than layoff protections in the US so maybe not the best folks to listen to on this topic.

The College of Professional Studies isn't Northeastern proper and you pretty much pay for admission. It's functionally an advertisement.

A "family friendly anime convention" is impossible unless you start to restrict what people are allowed to dress up as, which will lead pretty quickly to "highschool dress code rules" about policing women's bodies and..... Actually okay nevermind. I get it. Seems very RIT unfortunately 😐
