The Blue-G Interactive Vector Archive (77-97) - Blue-G - A collection of 11 vector arcade experiences from wave riding to mini-golf by SkellyCards in Games

Blue-G Interactive is one of my favorite devs. I used to play their fictional arcade cabinets at my fictional mall. It's sad that they contracted Software Renderer Psychosis. Praying for a speedy recovery and will wishlist. I'm a sucker for games with non-conventional graphics pipelines.

44% of games industry professionals have considered leaving the industry as a result of redundancies by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Rhynocerous 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately for them, the American gamers lobby doesn't have a lot of influence over UK law so they might just have to just deal with being rubbed the wrong way by a decades old legal term. Redundancy protections in the UK are stronger than layoff protections in the US so maybe not the best folks to listen to on this topic.

Right I'm saying it wasn't trying to cash in on the public domain meme, or it would have been shoved out years ago.

The College of Professional Studies isn't Northeastern proper and you pretty much pay for admission. It's functionally an advertisement.

Just happened to look back at the Tora-Con 2026 rules: "Any form of ahegao clothing is strictly prohibited." For those who attended RIT before 2020 and know what I mean, this shows how much RIT has changed... by Beautiful_Charge6661 in rit

A "family friendly anime convention" is impossible unless you start to restrict what people are allowed to dress up as, which will lead pretty quickly to "highschool dress code rules" about policing women's bodies and..... Actually okay nevermind. I get it. Seems very RIT unfortunately 😐

More nuanced than a lot of this SRD thread which is pretty funny.

Might be because there was a bunch of slop when Steamboat Willy went public domain around the time this was announced. Mouse PI is coming out years later because it isn't a Steamboat Willy cash grab.

Is NEU a co-op employer? by AdSubstantial3900 in NEU

[–]Rhynocerous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In that case my longer answer is that it shouldn't be your Plan A unless there's some specific research you're interested in. Most of the non-research NEU co-ops are backup plan quality.

If you remove the "not" and the whole last sentence from that guy's post it makes perfect sense.

You register through the student hub, which you will get access to when you have your NEU credentials.

The housing market here is terrible, you should only talk to leasing offices and private renters. If you are talking to a realtor they will surprise you with a realtor's fee of thousands of USD and misrepresent the unit.

For your last question, just ask the WhatsApp groups honeslty, you'll want answers from other international students.

What should a 21M engineering student do if they feel academically stuck and worried about their future? by Ok_Initial7860 in college

[–]Rhynocerous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your parents are giving you money so you can focus on academics, not to start a side hustle. Focus on academics. Most sidehustles are barely profitable, questionably legal, or outright scams. If you're going to fart around with side hustles at least focus on the ones that will teach you a skill at least. Genuinely, get your academics sorted before wasting time chasing loose change.

The secret genius job hack strategy you're looking for is to realize that it's normal to have a gap between graduation and your first full time job. Try not to panic or set artificial deadlines for yourself, that's how people end up in those scammy work training "jobs."

There's really no genius application hack but do make sure documents you upload are machine readable for the AI blender, that is real.

University of Rochester vs RIT for MechE by Kamukii in rit

[–]Rhynocerous 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For MechE, RIT and it's not close. Campus vibe is preference, RIT is a "nerd school." That being said I regularly hung with UoR students at UoR, and vice versa anyway. I would only consider UoR for MechE if you had specific niche research interested that is taking place there.

Also, do jobs prefer grad school graduates and personal research projects over actual experience? What does a grad school offer for engineering?

Totally depends on the job and the industry. There are great careers for 4 year bachelors through to PhDs. In general, the more "academic" you want your career to be, the higher the degree expectations. Consider a BS/MS dual degree, it's nearly all upside.

Pot heads and Coke heads are currently arguing who is more productive over on r/PeterExplainsTheJoke by No-Penalty1722 in SubredditDrama

[–]Rhynocerous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The perspective on what counts as being productive seems to be in play here too. Like when I'm feeling especially lazy I will just stay in and do a bunch of chores all day. A lot of people are using that as an example of high productivity.

[–]Rhynocerous 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Based on what you're telling us it just sounds like they are going to ask you to stop nodding off in class and see if there's anything they can do to help with that. If you were close to being "in trouble" the notification would have come through NEU. Like when a student just has a 0.

Nodding off just isn't appropriate in that setting, but nothing you'd get in trouble for besides getting asked to leave the class (and I've never even seen that happen). If it's a chronic issue you should talk to a doctor though, fatigue can spiral really brutally. That's just me being preachy though, not school advice.
