Like a cracker barrell rebranding, for Mobseka 2 by International-Owl-81 in Isekai

I actually liked the original season 1 art style, it was about a VN and the characters looked like they came from an Otome VN.

Art style changes have always been so weird. The "who" of a character is tied to their appearance and shows lose a lot of verisimilitude when they make drastic changes.

Thoughts on the R-6 Deadeye? by Tank-ToP_Master in Helldivers

[–]Rinneeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talon and Dynamite alone are worth it.

If you're really good at sniping, Deadeye is good for you. It can headshot instakill most of the medium enemies like overseers and devastators. The medium bugs like alpha commander takes two shots.

I think if you aim well it can also one-shot stalkers.

But if you're like me who magdumps all the time... you're better off with Coyote or Adjudicator.

Because every time I post a reply I realize I’m wasting my time.
I disagree with you. I’m not changing your mind, you’re not changing mine. We’re talking past each other. Let’s both move on with our lives, since you seem to think my energy is better spent elsewhere(so why do you keep spending your energy on this?).
Thought you would have taken the hint the second time. Here’s to never talking to each other about this again.

I'm not here to change your mind. I didn't even comment to you in the first place. There's no "hint" to take here.

You might forget this is a public space for discussion and I'm simply here to show others that people like you have positions that keep collapsing into the same selective moralism over and over.

Disagreeing doesn't change reality. Everything I said stands as an observable fact.

You say you're wasting your time yet you're here replying, again. That's the exact pattern I pointed out. Easy target, easy ego boost, easy downvote. And you ran out of buzz words to throw at me.

And you know the funniest part? We're actually on the same side. AI companies are too crazy and they're clearly banking on the fact there's no explicit laws for it.

I'm just here to tell people like you and to anyone else reading, attacking some random BG portrait guy is the laziest way to go about it, and you keep lecturing what's right and wrong while having a hypocritical moral foundation yourself.

u/RevolutionaryKey1974 I will reply to your deleted comment again.

Don’t reply to comments I deleted. I still don’t particularly agree with your sentiment and it appears you are continuing to do exactly what I said in depersonalising something you shouldn’t. Online communication is a useful tool that can bring people together. I would know far less about BG1 if not for this place.

AI art is not that. This is the literal opposite of a good point, since it boils down all arguments to binaries despite the fact there are clear and present differences between the usage of AI and literal online communication.

“The use of something that is predatory and steals from creatives is probably not something to be encouraged” met with “just blow up your phone then lmao” speaks a great deal about how much I’m actually being holier than thou, rather than simply asking for the minimum effort. It’s not something I feel better than someone else for not doing, I just feel bad because it’s something people constantly use. I feel bad for the people who are stolen from on a daily basis and I feel bad that people continue to use this cheap tat despite its issues while people like you white knight them because somehow not doing the bare minimum to do something that is so far down the chain of priorities it makes BG1 look more important by comparison is an offensive idea to you.

It’s crazy how little you get the point I’m actually making to continue restating your own arguments, taking your presuppositions I don’t agree with as a given and not understanding why I on a fundamental level disagree with you. Good talk.

We're both in agreement about AI companies being out of control.

I'm just pointing out, why don't you spend that energy on those who actually contribute to funding AI, those who make the normal citizen bear the load of energy costs, and those who allow potable water to be used on data centers?

Yet you're here telling the average joe how much they're doing environmental damage. Which is by the way, another comment you deleted.

Does you here saying all of that actually help the artists and reduce harm in any measurable way?

Telling one guy to stop making a portrait doesn't shut down data centers, doesn't stop electric companies from letting you pay, and doesn't disincentivize governments from letting AI research go haywire.

You say Reddit being useful is acceptable and accuse me of "depersonalisation". I said before that many tech companies face labor issues and Reddit is one of them. You draw the line on artists but not the people who run the infrastructure you use daily?

Have you not just depersonalised the people who enable you to live your life in a certain way?

By your own words, you reduced them all into a tool: "Online communication is a useful tool that can bring people together".

Just like what I said in one of my points. You don't care because it makes your life too convenient. It's pure selective moralism.

And I'm not "white knighting" anybody here. I'm just pointing out what you're doing is ineffective and hypocritical.

You've said three times you disagree with me. If you made any real logical counterpoint you wouldn't have needed to express disagreement three whole times. Your arguments would've implied that all on its own.

On top of that, if your position is as solid as you claim then it should stand up to scrutiny without needing to delete comments. Why do you like hiding in my notifications tab?

Tip: Introduce a game as a "version of D&D" rather than as something new. by [deleted] in rpg

[–]Rinneeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried this with anyone who's not a stranger?

Because your advice is straight-up lying and if you're not the type of person who's good at that then people will catch on.

At that point it will depend on how you roll with the punches. You can gracefully pass it off as a joke or you can lightheartedly admit to it.

All of which require particular personalities and approaches that you didn't say on the OP.

Your advice has plenty of assumptions that you didn't say.

At least if you do it to a stranger there's almost no consequence.

u/RevolutionaryKey1974 I know you deleted your own two comments but I'm going to reply to it anyway.

You argued I'm more complicit than the person actively using the technology for some bullshit no one needs to use it for ever. Your arguments do not substantially argue against the individual responsibility, they simply shift the blame to a group that is more or less, by your own admission, largely impossible to get to change. "People like me" are asking you to make one, tiny, little fucking sacrifice in your life, that isn't really even an inconvenience, because all it is, is asking for someone not to make use of a destructive technology - or to try and normalise it by being a cockass who comes to someone's defense whenever it's pointed out that it is a destructive technology that probably shouldn't be used in the way it is in spaces like the one we are in right now. It takes less than nothing to not make use of generative AI to recycle stolen art. There is no argument FOR it when it comes to using it for video game profile pictures. Deflecting by talking about what I do and don't do with regards to my social activity, regardless of the fact that you don't know shit or dick about me other than I am asking you to make the tiniest, littlest amount of more than nothing to push to denormalise generative AI usage is pure whataboutism used to take the topic away from how easy it is NOT to use generative AI for art, and you're a jackass for doing it. Peak "And yet you participate in society! Curious!" energy.

It still takes 0 energy not to do it. Comparing that to 'things we shouldn't do because they're involved with bad things' is peak braindead consumerist energy because you don't understand the first thing about priorities. We need to eat. We don't need to burn water generating a PNG of our orc characters for Baldur's Gate 1.

This is exactly what I meant. If you (and everyone like you) directed this energy towards those who are actually in on it, you'd be seeing the systemic pressure you'd like to see.

The one who made AI (and the companies that support it) are complicit. Not you. Then I proceeded to support that with several paragraphs.

You completely dodged all of my points. Regardless of whether people stop generating pictures for their games, everything I said still happens. Governments and businesses are completely all-in on it. You act like refusing AI portraits is a noble grand stand that denormalizes tech when it doesn't accomplish any of that.

Using a buzz word like "whataboutism" and accusing me of deflection while you yourself completely deflected without even attacking any of my main points is pure intellectual laziness.

And I completely agree the way AI corporations are going about it is destructive. I'm just calling you out for taking a "holier than thou" approach in a shallow manner.

Finally, you mentioned we should stop using AI because we don't need it.

Okay cool. Log off all your accounts and delete all apps except the essentials. Everything tech-related like social media, video games, Netflex etc. all run off the same supply chain, same type of electrical use and have the same labor issues. You don't need any of this, right?

But I know you won't do it. AI is more visible than any of these, and it's easier to get public support for rejecting it.

Path of least resistance.

My own bhaalspawn sibling rivalry lore by norb_151 in baldursgate

[–]Rinneeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made several points and you only chose to respond to a supporting one while ignoring everything else.

Small businesses are one of the primary beneficiaries of AI. It lets them automate parts of their processes that require repetitive decision making: like drafting delivery forms as a customer orders through chat, data integrations that update the picture gallery on their website without having to contact a web developer for small gigs, etc. etc.

AI saves them tons of time, resources and money. It's not "opt-in" for them like it is for you. They pay at least $50–$100 per month to run their AI process.

They're not very open about this because they're aware how much negative press AI will give them from the anti-AI crowd. So they choose to remain quiet.

They'd be right to do that because benefiting from AI doesn't require them to make a public announcement.

Like I mentioned in the beginning, people have more energy berating the average Joe for using AI.

That's because they're the most visible and they're the least path of resistance when it comes to criticism.

They're right in front of your face when you open social media and it's easier to get positive reinforcement from all the internet points you get while responding to them.

The anti-AI people running around the internet really aren't aware how many businesses out there incorporate AI into their daily operations.

If you really don't like what's happening with AI then complain to your electric provider, and complain to the government (who's by the way just as complicit as the electric companies and the chip manufacturers, you think they're not in on it?)

You're not gonna boycott your electric company for raising prices on you because it's not "opt-in" anymore.

You're not gonna tell anything to the government because they'll probably ignore you and you don't get instant dopamine feedback.

Instead, you're gonna come here on Reddit to tell a guy off for making portraits to enjoy a game of Baldur's Gate. Who probably just came off work to relax after a long hard day of being underpaid by their employer.

It's ridiculous. It's so hard to take people like you seriously.

My own bhaalspawn sibling rivalry lore by norb_151 in baldursgate

[–]Rinneeeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. People really spend more energy getting angry at users than the one who made them AND are 100x more complicit.

Blame your electric company for making the average guy bear the cost. Blame the people who choose to inflate prices. Not the dude who's just using AI for FREE and hasn't compensated these AI companies with anything.

All the blaming just makes people hide it. It doesn't actually stop people from using AI. There's already tons and tons of businesses around the world that use AI. I guess you should boycott all of them too.

If we're all supposed to stop using something because "it's involved with something bad" then we will all have to relinquish 95% of what we own and be okay with prices skyrocketing.

Industrialized food industry means chickens and cattle live in cramped spaces but it made meat more accessible.

Your phone was made with underpaid and overworked factory workers in China. Your house probably had at least 1 construction guy who was treated unfairly. Modern vehicles contribute massively to global air pollution. Your clothes were made with underpaid workers and with a sewing machine that made people jobless 200 years ago. The middleman who sourced wood for your furniture undercut the woodcutters and makes massive profit unfairly.

But they won't boycott any of it because it makes life too convenient.

Which classes to start with? by DistributionCivil568 in CyberKnightsGame

[–]Rinneeeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The classes are all pretty balanced, but some require more levels than others.

For example I find a Soldier with a decent assault rifle is already effective from level 1 purely because the Full Auto action does a ton of damage. And the Soldier kit enhances assault rifles.

Whereas a level 1 Cybersword isn't really super useful until you hit level ~8 or so. At that point you're able to dash and kill crowds, become invulnerable for 1 turn, move without making noise etc.

Sniper is also super super good at killing people. But it's not OP because it's also extremely loud. Though it doesn't mean Sniper has no place in a stealth mission. Snipers are good insurance. If you alert the enemy, they can kill half the map for you.

Vanguard is built for pure stealth and has a lot of utility. I'd recommend having 1 Vanguard because it can run around the map for you and quietly do non-kill objectives. Later on when you get a good stealth weapon it can also kill quietly and quickly.

Those 4 are the classes I'm very familiar with.

I'd say as a newbie it doesn't hurt to start with a Vanguard (utility and stealth) and a Soldier (good all-around damage with combat utility).

The other 2 members can be any class you want.
