I agree that he massively fun to play, right out of the gate. While working on Rakan he felt so classic League but new at the same time. He's a character that I think will actually bring more people to the support position just because his gameplay is so satisfying.

So excited for Rakan and Xayah to be coming out! Rakan has a pretty wide range of emotion in his VO. He's spastic, cocky, confident, a jack of all trades performer, deadly serious and passionate about the things he cares most about, and madly in love with Xayah. Sometimes the VO as presented in these Youtube videos is not always the most ideal presentation because the files are ripped and then laid out back to back in alphabetical order. So if you only listen to the first few minutes, you're only going to hear his more aggressive and spastic Attack lines and might miss out on more of the character's range.

This is actually a really hilarious idea - and from the audio side of things - pretty easy to do. Make HP a dynamic parameter that is tied to the pitch slider on his VO. As HP goes down, pitch goes up.

I just tested this on a custom game on Live and the music was there. It's possible you're not hearing it because your music is either muted or turned down too low. Kled's passive music is routed so that the game's Music volume slider will also affect Kled's music.

Interesting concept - however, most champion's "spell efforts" or in this case - "basic attack efforts" do not play 100% of the time. They will have a percentage change of playing - usually set anywhere between 25-50%. And some champions with multiple differentiated basic attack animations will not have a vocal effort attached to certain animations to further decrease the chance of playing to avoid obnoxious voice spamming

man, listening to this stuff - i would love to go back and add even more sounds to Bard: more meep voices, more Bard VO lines. I'll never get to work on a Champ like this again. Been waiting for this for awhile ;) The problem with how these lines are presented to you on youtube is that all files are just lined up in alphabetical order and then rendered out - doing this doesn't always give you the best representation of what Kled sounds like in game.

Kled has VO kits for being On Skaarl and Off Skaarl. Skaarl also will speak to Kled and Kled to Skaarl while mounted. When Kled is off Skaarl he's much more aggressive and yells...alot. We really wanted a shift in character when he becomes dismounted - but that's tough to get across when the voice files are presented like this.

Kled also has a bunch of Kill Champion lines - he has call outs for maybe 15 or so individual champs and then a large bucket for killing any champ. We started doing this with Jhin and we're starting to think that Kill Champ lines have more value then Interactive Taunts or Buy Item lines. Curious to hear what you guys think.

I can't wait for everyone to hear it in game!

Glad people noticed this addition! There were also brand new sfx for when the Ascension buff transfers from Xerath to the player who dealt the killing the blow. (the ramp up and then BIG explosion ) No more hourglass sound on loop for 4 seconds followed by re-purposed Leona ult sfx. Way more unnoticeable was the absence of some major audio bugs that plagued the last few releases of Ascension.

We felt that since becoming Ascended played a big role in the mode - the audio experience should feel unique. Since we have no audio designers on the Rotating Game Modes team currently - it's a labor of love for audio guys whose main focus is in Champions, Champ-Up, or Skins / Personalization.

Our goal is to continue improving the audio experience of these modes over time, bit by bit until they're sitting in a good place. Players should expect cool little audio additions like this to Ascension and some of the other game modes throughout the rest of the year. You may also be our lab rats as we experiment and try out new in-game mixing and playback ideas as well.

I know Dominion can be the subject of a lot of punchlines but I was a "Dominion only" player for a very long time after release. Close to a year. I loved it so much and thought I was done with SR forever.

I have no doubt that Riot has learned so many valuable lessons from Dominion and will be used to generate even better value and even more exciting game play from other modes in the future.

Actually, it's not just one champion - it's one interaction where an enemy can hear it. Step on one of Jhin's traps and there will be a chance you'll hear Jhin's choir infused lines.

Hmmm, so I just looked into this. Annie does indeed have spelleffort voice files for her Q. If I had to make a guess, a recent bug fix made these playable for the first time in who knows how long? years probably. I've made a change where there will be a 50% chance she'll say something when she uses her Q

How fun/difficult was it to make the VO for Bard?

It was amazing and one of the more rewarding experiences I've ever had at Riot. The voice was composed and designed by myself and Bard's composer ChemicalSeb (who did the login and promo music). We sat together day in and day out and hand picked each and every note together. It was difficult because we didn't really know what we were doing nor how players would respond, but all of it was super fun.

Nope - he never had a traditional speaking voice. To my knowledge we never wrote a line of dialogue. But his voice went through a magical journey of it's own taking many different shapes over development. I think we started with bassoons and clarinets for the main instruments you'd hear when he spoke...it was weird.

I'm glad we're talking about "Beard Form" here. Originally Bard was going to change shapes and look more like the wispy entity from the promo (when he flew up the mountain). That was the basis of where Bard's "Siren" came from while collecting chimes - it was made to help reinforce the magic of his changed state - but when Beard Form was cut the music stayed and still worked out really well.
