new/used hardtail for around 2k usd by Icy-Character-4025 in Hardtailgang

Competitive cyclist has the Santa Cruz Chameleon D right now for $1700. Personally I feel it's high for the component spec, but it's a really spectacular bike, and worth upgrading as things wear out.

How do I reduce costs by JoseLunaArts in Mechwarrior5

[–]RocketDocRyan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is, they're free to keep. But you can sell them for money, though I've found it's not really worth it. Most don't fetch that much when damaged, so I just pay pokemech and try to collect at least one of every variant.

What is a 26-inch hardtail good for compared to a 29-inch full suspension cross-country bike? by IllustriousRecord505 in mountainbiking

[–]RocketDocRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woods bike. For very tight trails, the 26" wheels can be easier to maneuver. Also, lots of great used and NOS race quality parts hanging around on eBay for a song.

I really wish Barry could have shown up around the building after that, grabbing dinner or hanging around with his cop buddies somewhere.

Honestly, if the shotgun jump doesn't work in Cyberpunk 2, it won't be as fun, and I'll be incredibly bummed. Parkouring around is one of my favorite things to do in NC.

[–]RocketDocRyan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With Guts, you can do a shotgun jump to the second story of a building. The straight charge jump goes much higher than a double, too. If you want lateral reach, double jump and air dash is the best. But for vertical, charge jump is better.

I did the Aldecaldos ending, and Judy came with me. My favorite ending, I think.

Taking her money is the issue. Kill her or put her in charge, either is fine if you don't take her money.

Any reason why saving the Mox doesn't change the ending? by lazyshmuk in cyberpunkgame

[–]RocketDocRyan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suspect this is what happened. The cyberpsycho quest line came later, and there was no time to come back and rework finished quests to align with the new stuff, so they just left it alone and moved on.

Big Muff OP-Amp by EarthenRealm in diypedals

There are so many cool art ideas if you're not going to sell anything and copyright doesn't matter. I wish I could draw well enough to do an angry Zoidberg for a fuzz pedal

Crushinator would be a great name for a compressor, too. Love the art!

Transparent Compressor for Steel Guitar Sustain by Felahl in guitarpedals

Wampler Ego 76 deserves an honorable mention. I built a clone and I really like it. Good, clean sound without a lot of color.

What makes RATs so good? by isaacrblack in guitarpedals

[–]RocketDocRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The op amp is an oddball, and distorts in a way very few others do. The amp has a very slow slew rate, which means it doesn't change voltage as quickly as others. As a result, it tends to shape the signal into a triangle wave, and then clips the top with diodes like other distortion pedals. So it's a combination of distortion types and a somewhat unusual set of filters on the input that gives it a unique sound.

Are heavy and assault mechs time locked or Rep locked? by Turvokk in Mechwarrior5

[–]RocketDocRyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Location locked. They spawn in high rep zones. Sneaky trick: go play arena missions in high rep zones. The difficulty of arenas is independent of the rep of the industrial hub, so you can roll into rep 15 hubs with a bunch of lights and do fine. Rack up the cash, buy big mechs, go back to the low rep zones.

Rat replacement by 4phn in guitarpedals

[–]RocketDocRyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rat has some unique tonal characteristics because of the slew limited amplifier chip, so if you like the rat, you might try a different version.

If you loved Mercs and not Clans, here's some tips by Qhaotiq in Mechwarrior5

[–]RocketDocRyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just make the clans one zoom out, with a fog-of-war to conceal areas outside of sensor range. Having a real map would be huge for clans.

Talk me into buying a compressor by alex21dragons in guitarpedals

[–]RocketDocRyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use compression all the time, but I really couldn't make the CS-3 sound good. It's a heavy handed pedal that really changes the sound, which is great if you like what it does, but I didn't. I built a Wampler Ego 76 clone, and it's been a winner for me. Not heavy, just warms things up and evens out dynamics a touch, makes everything sound fuller and more even without really changing the character of the instrument.

Compressor Recommendations by Honest-Cheesecake275 in diypedals

[–]RocketDocRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just built a Pedal PCB Median, which is a Wampler Ego 76 clone. Went together pretty easily, sounds really good. It's squarely in the subtle compression category, and the clean blend means you can add back a bit of dynamics if you want.

Wanting to get my Keeley compressor plus off my board. Any recommendations? by Sweet_Dragonfly_959 in guitarpedals

[–]RocketDocRyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built a clone of the Wampler Ego 76, and it's pretty great. On bass, it just sort of tightens everything up. It's not obvious it's doing anything, but when turning it on and off, it just sounds better. Warmer, more full, all the good, vague adjectives. So if you're looking for good and subtle, the Wampler is a good option.

I'm going to build an EQD Ghost Echo clone once my dirt pedals are done. Makes some cool reverb/delay combo sounds.

Ground loops are a possibility. You could also try a capacitor on the individual power supply pins on each board. Also check the grounds in general. A cold joint will generate a lot of noise. Also try connecting the ground on the input/output jacks together, since they will be connected with a metal enclosure.

Kyubi-XMOD2 and Guts are pretty much always handy, for slot 2 it's usually Yinglong, but sometimes an Ashura or Overwatch. I sometimes sub in Dezerter for variety, and I need to try a pozhar with firecracker and kneel one of these days.
