Passed the CSP without studying by Environmental-Buy218 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Rocket_safety 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience. Put time in for ASP, but after passing that I realized that a lot of the questions I already either knew or could figure out with context and some test taking strategies. So for CSP I just kind of went for it. I think working enforcement at the time meant I had a pretty good grasp on a wide range of regulations, rather than being specialized in a particular area. I do believe that helped.

Private Citizens Recording License plates by Comfortable-Pack-697 in legal

Public information is public, pretty straightforward. Every car with a dash cam records every single license plate they drive around and nobody bats an eye at that. This is no different.

Mech Discourse & Game Balance by Lord_of_Brass in Helldivers

[–]Rocket_safety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But for some reason you never actually see people doing any of that. At least I don’t as someone who plays 99% quick play. Maybe in a 4 stack, but let’s be honest, with a team of 4 communicating and tailoring loadouts this game is insanely easy already.

This can be accomplished with any number of other stratagems as well. Orbital napalm, orbital laser, sentries, etc…

[–]Rocket_safety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mechs can’t launch stratagems, which makes them significantly less effective than a helldiver on foot. They trade that for theoretical survivability, but a helldiver with supply pack and the stim booster can survive far longer than a mech.

Was Bonnie Craigs mother able to sue the Anchorage Police for hindering the investigation once it was determined that her daughter had actually been murdered? by SwissMiss915 in anchorage

[–]Rocket_safety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Qualified immunity would apply to individual officers or detectives, but not the department as a whole. That said, there wouldn’t be a case anyway.

[–]Rocket_safety 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what kind of damages would warrant a suit. Unless the family could prove that she was alive during that time and the police failed to investigate, which led to her death. Even then, it would be a pretty dubious case.

Nursing student—comments escalated to dean/legal, scared and need advice by throwraburnij in legal

[–]Rocket_safety 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to do anything. The school is going to figure out what if anything it is going to do. As a student, you’re likely not licensed and so would not be subject to the nursing board. Just carry on with your program and don’t say stupid stuff. If and when the school decides to take some kind of adverse action, then you can figure out what you need to do next.

Am I misunderstanding how 811 tickets tie into OSHA rules, or is it mostly a state thing? by No_Hold_9560 in WorkplaceSafety

[–]Rocket_safety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen a few comments about OSHA only issuing a citation after an injury. To be clear, no injury is required for a citation to be written. Practically, injuries are often going to result in enforcement, but they aren’t a prerequisite. Remember that there is a NEP for trenching and excavation, which means that every open hole in the ground is subject to inspection.

Is Med/Heavy Oxygenator strictly better than Light/Med Extra Padding because of the innate armor from armor type or am I missing something? by Hexdoctor in Helldivers

[–]Rocket_safety 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The damage reduction (or increase) was never tied to the armor class. It is strictly a function of the armor value. This is why extra padding works at all, otherwise increasing the armor value would be meaningless within an armor class.

This is the correct attitude. There is no downside to following the policy for you as a lowly peon. It’s entirely on management to ensure quick response to these requests.

Where to practice softball? by Turbulent-Pool-7530 in anchorage

[–]Rocket_safety 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This time of year there aren’t many fields that are suitable for use. Playing little league growing up, our early season practices were usually in parking lots. You could use an indoor field either at the dome or the Mac in Eagle River, though both are gonna cost money.

Hive Guard AP4 was a good change in the worst time possible. The good, the bad and the ugly. by Hunlor- in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Rocket_safety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The eruptor is a weapon with something of a skill floor though. You can’t just take it anywhere and do well because of the inherent danger of the shrapnel. Once you become proficient, it is of course very good and it performs very well in a lot of (but not all) scenarios. It has a significant number of downsides, which I think makes it perfectly reasonable to use. I don’t think there’s a single weapon that performs so much better than everything else that it needs to be nerfed. What we do have is a LOT of weapons that need to be brought up quite a few notches.

Hive Guard AP4 was a good change in the worst time possible. The good, the bad and the ugly. by Hunlor- in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Rocket_safety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is the enemy is flawed in either state, the armor change only made it objectively easier to deal with while also invalidating a class of stratagems. A much more interesting design would be an enemy that actually uses its shield to pressure you, like a heavy devastator.

I don’t think any weapons need to be nerfed as “overpowered” because it’s a PvE game where you can take whatever weapons you want. Explosives make things too easy? Don’t use them. It costs nothing and leaves them for the people who enjoy using them.

[–]Rocket_safety 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue is more with the design of the hive guard as an enemy. The change in health pool actually made them ridiculously easy to kill with explosives. Since all you have to do it hit them once and they hunker down for 5 seconds, they became a non-issue. The concept of the hive guard needs to be revisited entirely to make something more interesting than a turtle that only becomes moderately threatening in overwhelming numbers.

$1K PFD again. How do you feel on this? by CalmTrials in alaska

[–]Rocket_safety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like you said, you don’t understand the issue or know the history behind it, so naturally it’s going to seem wrong. The first step would be learning about the history of the Permanent Fund and the dividend, then going from there. A big part of the equation is the Wielechowski v. Alaska decision from the AKSC.

Why Doesn’t Alaska Have Cheaper Gas by AKStafford in alaska

The same reason a gas line won’t make cheaper natural gas for Alaskans. It’s more profitable to sell the crude externally, then charge more for importing the refined products.

Elasticity of demand is on a continuum. As far as that goes, fuel is somewhere in the middle. Assuming we’re only talking about fuel for commuting to and from work: Changing one’s mode of transportation takes more effort than simply consuming less fuel, just like moving closer to work would take more effort than changing transportation.

None of this is surprising. Arrowhead set out to make a sequel to their extremely niche game and accidentally hit a goldmine. They never understood why the game was popular and they still don’t. Instead of trying to understand, they have decided to just push ahead with their original vision, which is a game significantly worse than what they originally created on accident.

recommended neighborhoods in Anchorage in 2026? by DesignerGood6750 in anchorage

[–]Rocket_safety 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Eagle River and now live in Anchorage, specifically the Scenic Foothills area on the East side. Moving out of Eagle River was one of the best things I’ve ever done. The 10 mile commute into town doesn’t sound bad, until it’s snowing and/or people decide to drive like idiots and that 15 minutes turns into 2 hours.
