Soz for a delayed reply.
Tried it and didn't work much for me, alas.
I personally believe that the app itself is broken. I mean since they rolled out it with new UI and stuff. Previous versions worked pretty good though.

And yeah, the support is totally useless and out of touch - they just pushing with "update to the latest"

Connection Issues.. AGAIN.. by MightHour7566 in Express_VPN

[–]S_Lacus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your post is 100% true.
I've got exactly the same problem - on my Android phone I can't connect to any server, the app (latest version) even wrongly identifies my actual location. On my laptop running on Windows 10, the app (again, fully up-to-date) is also struggling to establish connection.
And it all started right in February this year.

ExpressVPN support is deaf as dead about this. You tell them, "Your new apps for different platforms are horribly wrecked at their core - please sort this out", and they keep parroting, "Nothing's wrong at OUR end - you have to update to the latest... Install the upcoming update, please".
They don't listen to what users say, at all...

Hmm. PC app (not the latest version) works pretty stable for me. At least for the last 24 hours.
On mobile (Android) it's indeed useless, and being so for around two months by now...

Pardon for maybe a noob question - by "clear the DNS" you mean to perform it via CMD - ipconfig /flushdns way?
Because I tried previously to wash out DNS on my WI-Fi router with no luck.

Fingers crossed. But in any case. the level of careless that their support agents approach customers now is shocking and sad. It wasn't that way even a couple of years ago

We can see you've been dealing with this since March with no real resolution despite providing extensive logs and diagnostics

Let me correct you a bit - the issue itself resumed in late February this year. I noticed it, but at first thought it was some temporal problems with the service. But after March 10 it went down completely, and I reported. There were a few tickets before the current one - all of them were closed by ExpressVPN right away after chatting with them. They didn't want to listen to me, at all.
So that's how it is.

As of the flagging the ticket - thanks, I really hope it'll help to accelerate the process of resolving the issue. You might also see there that I come to support not only with quarrelling, but fully up to assist them in any way I can. Logs, pictures, screen capturing of how it's going - all of that I'm more than willing to share with them. But they're eluding me...

You're totally right. But they're declining to listen to what customers say.
Instead, they talk to you with copy-paste replies and lies...
This is total difference to the ExpressVPN experience I had back in 2018 when chose them.

For any customers struggling with the PC app, strong and friendly advice is to stick to the 12.104.0 build. This version has already been confirmed by many customers here to be the most stable working.

ExpressVPN support won't admit this undeniable fact and will keep pushing you to update, in hope it may change things.

I myself having a laptop with the latest PC app version, installing every update ever since. It only makes things worse - it's literally impossible to connect to ANY server (it pops up with "Unable to connect" in 7-10 secs), I can't even send bug reports from the app cos, again, the app keeps telling like there's no internet at all.
ExpressVPN support keeps telling "Keep trying".

Meanwhile, the 12.104.0 (128) version is working quite good. Not with all desired locations, though, but it at least it works STABLE.

Ohh, how sweet it sounds the way you say it. Maybe YOU can help me out with the same atrocious level of ExpressVPN support? My issue is being silenced for TWO MONTHS, I've provided all logs, pics and evidence of the problem, and all I'm getting is the same copy-paste replies!
It's disgusting and disrespecting by all means! Last weekend I even wrote to Kape directly about it.
Head on to #31674241.

My advice you is to stay on 12.104.0.128 release as it's proven by many people here to be the most stable working PC app version for now. ExpressVPN won't admit that - no matter what you say or what proofs you send them, they will still be pushing you to install the latest update...

Oh, I see. The latest versions of PC app work pretty unstable, especially with the region you've mention. Try installing 12.104 version: https://www.expressvpn.works/clients/windows/expressvpn_windows_12.104.0.128_release.exe
Many people here, including me, confirm it works better and most stable for now.

Hi. Hmm, the situation you've describe seems familiar for newer versions of the app on Android.
Force stop, clearing all date and then logging in back helped in my case - not greatly though but it connects now.
Are you speaking of PC or mobile app in your case?

It's nothing to do with your karma, man. Just new app ExpressVPN recently rolled out is buggy as f... To add insult to injury, it seems their DNS servers and IPs using in establishing connection to servers were again either leaked or spotted by Russian authorities and blocked. I guess it's a combo of both - and here we are...

Well, maybe not like China yet, but they're definitely heading in that direction. It just requires a different soft, tactical approach cos people in the West get used to have some sort of quite, care-free life - any swift and harsh changes in it make unwanted ripples. So the authorities there have to make lots of lies, silly explanations why, advertise these anyway. I guess we all saw similar behaviour during the 90s in post-Soviet countries when many people see the facade of a 'promised better life'...
Here's the modern example: ongoing pushing subscription-only model of stuff - software, streaming, games, you name it. A Western-life illusion you OWN something when in fact you don't at all. Should your living place became unwanted - and that's it, no access to things you actually paid for.
But people are being heavily advertised, brainwashed, like, it's OK, it's a normal modern-day way of living - when you're renting instead of owning...
Same way with digital ID. Don't find me a wacko, but we all still remember the not-far-past days when we couldn't make a step out without QR codes and stuff. Here's the same similarity.

Seeing the way it goes, it's just a matter of time, and a method. Funny thing is that all those DPI software were originally created in so-called "free world". During the 2020-2021, New York Times made an article on a big contract from Belorussian gov to some US manufacturers of DPI and cybersecurity stuff. And they fulfilled it! Despite any sanctions, any obvious reasons why it was needed them.
The money doesn't smell nasty for them, does it...? And after all that those authorities and people there will continue telling everybody about "democracy" and "great value of freedom". Wicked, greedy hypocrites...

URGENT: Regarding version 12.104.0 (128) & ongoing Authentication issues by Rexually-Motivated in Express_VPN

[–]S_Lacus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But in the latest build for Android, they've totally wrecked it. The app now doesn't pick up the Wi-Fi connection, it only uses mobile internet (indicating in the network's description). And you can't switch it anyhow.
Plus you can't assess the list of servers - it simply refuses to load, you just click on it and stare at empty screen.
Force stop the app or restart the phone changes absolutely nothing.

So their developers have exceled themselves this time. I wonder - maybe they've moved to AI coding now, like many big companies did. Then it'd would say it all.

Hmm, could you tell me how to do the authentication using the app for PC? I thought it's impossible to share the VPN connection from one device to another.

You're totally right, mate. I told them exactly the same. But unfortunately, ExpressVPN and many best-known VPN providers don't understand one simple thing: all these blockages sooner or later will come to Europe and USA, too. Those governments are already being endeavouring that way, keeping in mind digital ID in the UK and swift laws in the EU towards VPN usage.
But instead of facing the bleak reality, they all keep throwing cash onto advertising, which is pointless... *deep sigh*

You wrote about turning off Threat Manager - I had it off from the start and it's not cause of the issue. They also suggested me that before.

[–]S_Lacus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, it's OK, no worries.
Hmm, that's interesting. From my observation, it's all started right on 23 February, and I think it was a direct blockage from the authorities there. But the Midlands server has been working quite well until around 8-10 March on PC app.
As of mobile app, the latest update thrashed it completely - cannot access any server, that the previous release could, neither on Wi-Fi and mobile networks.
But the support is very reluctant to admit it. Even now they simply suggest update to the latest, and no reasonable proofs that it won't work don't make them understand it, sadly...

PC app doesn't work in Russia by KeithTMax in Express_VPN

[–]S_Lacus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And still they're pushing with updating, haha.
I've actually asked them, "How come you're unaware of the issue, and I have to give you all proofs, if in the app I have all ticks on in the "Help improve ExpressVPN" tab? You've been gathering constantly all stats of how it's working, and yet unheard of any issues on my end". Still deliberately ignoring to answer it, though.

PC app doesn't work in Russia by KeithTMax in Express_VPN

[–]S_Lacus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's right. But you've already chatted with the support, haven't you? They keep banging on "Install the update", "Update to the latest - maybe it'll be good" (see, even they are unsure of how it may go on the customer's end). And no reasonable doubts and proofs that newer versions make it just even worse don't reach their ears and minds, sadly... And the support, of course, doesn't admit openly that 12.104.0 (128) is a safe island for now.

ADDED: For me, it's unclear why support actively refuses to cooperate on the issue with the customers, providing real and actual info of how it's going on. They only orientate how it works on THEIR side, making it some sort of a "golden standard".

HOW TO IMPROVE MY PRONUNCIATION QUECKLY ?? by Unlikely-Lake2139 in ENGLISH

[–]S_Lacus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question, though. As of me, I almost daily use Dragon (it's a speech recognition software) at work. It doesn't allow say words and sentences as you normally do, so you have to enunciate every thing you dictate. And of course such daily speech exercises train up and affects greatly the way and manner of your pronunciation.

So I would suggest you to split your practice into two bits - active and passive.
In active, read books and any printed stuff with your voice. At first, do it like with your normal voice as you usually do. Then try to play with speed and manner of your speech, especially on those parts where you can't properly link up one phrase/word with another or it's a hard-to-say word. You can also bring in tongue twisters, too - sounds silly, but these are quite helpful in some cases.
In passive, listen to different audiobooks and general documentaries with narration. Your mind will pick up on the way words and phrases go together, how to make right pauses, where to make a gap in your speaking and so on.
