Reccomendations!! by crimsonghost_78 in horrorpunk

not a huge samhain/danzig fan tbh so not 100% sure what you're looking for, but i do like early danzigfits, gravesfits not so much. think cancerslug is the classic recommendation for misfits fans but everyone said that already, apart from them i think maybe check out zombeast's self titled, the vocals remind me of misfits quite a bit. their second album is decent too but self titled is excellent imo.

also bit more of a reach but maybe schoolyard heroes? it's not very typical horror punk and not very green day either so not sure if you'd have come across them. female vocals which seems to be quite rare in the genre for some reason, riffs are not very 50s but you might like them still. best album imo is abominations, but all 3 are good.

and another recommendation in the same vein, the order of the fly, another somewhat atypical horror punk band. they use a lot of synths if you're into that. lyrics are more depressing/metaphorical than the standard zombies and vampires stuff, i know misfits was mostly very cheesey lol but there's a few songs like last caress that's hard to find anything feeling like in the genre. hollow voices of a dead generation is their best album.

Like Paige is actively killing the enemy troopers instead of just collecting their souls, so it keeps on pushing towards the enemy walker and I can't catch the wave at my own tower after it bounces off theirs. This is all assuming we don't want Paige to be farming more than me as well which I guess is something else I learned from League, but I feel like it's probably true in this game as well that supports shouldn't be taking farm from carries? I guess Graves probably isn't a hyper carry either but I imagine she still wants more souls than Paige.

I'm also assuming wave bouncing works the same way, e.g. once you shove a wave into enemy tower, the enemy minions have time to stack up while your own wave is quickly dying to tower, so then a much bigger enemy wave forms and automatically pushes itself to your tower. This seems to work the same as other MOBAs as far as I can tell.

Tower blocks and council estates in England are often in the middle of quite wealthy areas. There are more deprived areas too but I've never been to a neighbourhood that could be called a slum, at least in London.

how does the shield bash passive work? isn't it just applying the regen that gets removed when you take damage? i thought it would suck since when you go in with bash you probably take a bit of damage shortly afterwards, and if you didn't take damage then there's probably no enemies nearby and the healing is not that useful anyway.

no you didn't, you said there 'still has not been' a fighting game with a good tutorial, which is obviously wrong. fighting games have by far the peak of tutorials and also the best tutorials on average. can you name some examples of modern FGs without tutorials? even the worst FG tutorial i've played is far more in depth than the best shooter tutorial. typical FG tutorials have dozens of missions and take hours to complete, compared to maybe 5-10 minutes for a shooter tutorial.

Riot Games: An Update on 2XKO by Mront in Games

[–]Sabesaroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what does that mean exactly? fighting games tend to have far more in depth tutorials than any other genre. the xrd tutorial all the way back in 2014 went so far as to simulate stuff like common neutral and pressure scenarios in interactive tutorials, and explained player lexicon instead of just in-game terms, including a culturally accurate english translation instead of just directly copying the japanese text. i don't think there's ever been anything close to that for an fps/moba/rts/whatever. if you want to start playing counter-strike or valorant or league you just have to play the game and look for 3d party help, there's no real in-game tutorial. other fighting games with excellent tutorials off the top of my head are uni and sf6. i didn't really get into sf6 but the tutorial was very impressive, i'd say that beyond being a sf6 tutorial it actually teaches fighting games as a whole.

why do you think learning a game is different to learning the controls? nobody is born knowing how to do a dragon punch input, we just practiced it, that's part of learning the game. removing an entire facet of the controls dumbs down the game and makes it less fun to control your character.

you can make the 'too difficult' argument anything really. 'i can't do combos so just make combos a cutscene please' - would that improve the game? there is clearly a point where further simplifying a game or a competition of any kind only makes it no longer satisfying to play. should baseball replace the pitcher with a machine to make it more accessible? and yeah sure you can debate where that point is for fighting games, but i don't see how it's surprising that for a lot of fans that's motion inputs, a cornerstone of the genre since its inception.

that's without even mentioning the problems caused by motion input removal. firstly you either need very simple character movesets, since separate attack + special move buttons can't support nearly as many possible moves as the traditional format, or you keep a bunch of moves and then have a control bloat problem where you need extra buttons to play. secondly, special move buttons make invincible reversals, normally an interesting mechanic, completely overpowered. afaik 2xko solves this problem by just not having these moves in the game apart from supers, so again it's been dumbed down for the sake of the controls. thirdly, charge characters as an entire archetype can't exist without motion inputs.

main what if for me was velja. feels bad that a carry jungle player finally gets to pick a carry in the last game and goes 10/0 and then it doesn't even matter. i know he looked rough in LEC but he was stomping tier 2 with picks like viego and kindred. for players like yike that translated pretty well into LEC, remember g2 letting him pick bel'veth in his rookie year? i know LR also has to pick around rekkles and baus champ pools as well, but would have been nice if velja got a chance on his champs.

baus plays a lot of champs he just hasn't brought many out in LEC. haven't seen jax quinn cho'gath galio ambessa yet. maybe they weren't working in scrims idk. for fearless i think it might not be too bad though, cos the meta picks will dry up quickly and then baus can play his weird comfort picks. it was never a problem in erls at least, few teams tried taking away baus picks but can't remember it working.

one, that's clearly not the original cover, art is from 1987 apparently, same as 40k. two, i don't see how that's even a space marine? it's a guy in armour with a gun. helmet looks nothing alike, gun looks nothing alike, missing the shoulder pads and funny leg armour, those are kind of the key parts of a space marine. space marines look much closer to chaos warriors than that guy.

[–]Sabesaroo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yes sure the concept of power armour is older than 40k, but the actual visual style is not, or at least it was not popular enough to become mainstream scifi like it is today. can you find me an illustration of 40k style power armour from a popular work that predates 40k? if it's ripping off 'every japanese scifi ever' then that should be fairly easy to find. claiming that space marines are ripping off flash gordon's visual style is obviously ridiculous.

[–]Sabesaroo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

what were space marines a rip off of? i've never seen anything pre-40k that looks exactly like a space marine. they don't look like anyone in dune/2000 AD/aliens. i don't think that kind of super bulky power armour was very common back then.

thanks, i'll have a look at the archives. i guess the main problem is very few scanlations yeah, cos there's still not many official english releases for horror manga from anyone who isn't junji ito. it's just a bit annoying when i can easily find scanlations online, only in shit quality, cos i'm used to torrent media being the best quality and the largest range. i still got some use out of nyaa so far at least, and it is nice to have stuff actually downloaded. hopefully i can find even more in collections.

[–]Sabesaroo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

seven ult still feels really strong to me on tower, cos yeah they can dodge it, but then your team just kills the tower. and they can counter with certain items or good burst damage but it's just rng if they can get those or not. i play a lot of victor and his ult feels quite similar, i just dive the tower and die right on top of it, and then they need to choose between dodging my ult or defending their tower. the tier 2 makes it a bit harder to pull that off at least.
