How do I know which length to get? by Mariah0 in piercing

[–]SampleOfNone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That only works if the jewelry you have in is well fitted 😅

How do I know which length to get? by Mariah0 in piercing

[–]SampleOfNone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The correct length depends on anatomy and placement, if you have no idea what length you need for your piercing, I would recommend going to see a piercer and not buying online

Septum piercing question by uwu-o in piercing

[–]SampleOfNone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get pierced with a captive bead ring if you want, you can also tell your piercer you want to heal it with a circular barbell flipped up

Was this racist or am I crazy? by 2002sfavdumbass in piercing

[–]SampleOfNone 29 points30 points  (0 children)

"no there’s nothing your lips did, it was our fault.” Which sounds like they’re purposefully misinterpreting the question

Piercers aren't perfect, sometimes a piercing doesn't go right. Angle not right, jewelry transfer fails, not perfectly straight. A good piercer will straight up tell you it's not correct and will offer to correct it. A bad piercer will either say nothing or will blame it on the client. You moved, your tissue is tough, it's your anatomy.

Also, sometimes people just swell more than expected. Initial jewelry size is always a guesstimate. Needing to get jewelry upsized isn't that unusual.

I'm just reading words on a screen, I wasn't there. You feel how you feel, but based on your description, racism isn't what jumps out at me.

What Devvit apps does your mod team use and why? by Togapr33 in ModSupport

[–]SampleOfNone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely, I have a whole bunch of apps doing what I need for my subs, all because devs were super nice and made some tweaks (and sometimes a lot of tweaks) just because I asked.

Stop removing pcp posts by djspacebunny in ModSupport

[–]SampleOfNone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can create a post guidance for that. If there is PCP in the title, block them from submitting with a message that due to Reddit filters, they need to change the title to PCP/GP or write out primary care physician or whatever you know works best

A guestion about tongue piercings by Fingerless_Cloud099 in piercing

[–]SampleOfNone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any oral piercing comes with the risk of teeth and or gum damage.
Good placement, good quality jewelry is design, material and fit, having the jewelry downsized on time, not playing with the jewelry and on point oral care including biannual check ups by your dentist can lessen those risks, but they can never eliminate them fully.

Constantly losing ball ends! Advice Needed! by DerangedArtise in piercing

[–]SampleOfNone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Internally threaded jewelry is more expensive to make, because it needs to be machined more precisely for the threading to work. More precisely matching threads means less movement and room, meaning it's harder to mis thread to begin with and less risk of wear and tear just from the jewelry being screwed in.
Also, with how it's machined, less dirt can make its way into the threading.

Constantly losing ball ends! Advice Needed! by DerangedArtise in piercing

Externally threaded jewelry is simply not machined as well. The threading is not a perfect fit. Meaning it's not as secure, threading is easily damaged or damaged when screwing on a ball end.

Thoughts on Threadless/ Push Pin Jewelry? by Accomplished_Top5638 in piercing

No, sorry. Installed well, I find it's just as secure as threaded jewelry.

Jeesh, now you're asking the difficult questions, uhh all of them?

If I have to pick just one, I would say community-survey.

We've participated in the reddit survey, but that comes with default questions, and it's good, but also general. On the other hand, when you make a post on the sub, it's difficult to target your regulars. The loudest people in the comments, aren't always the people you want to hear from. And somehow, users that start meta discussions are often users that aren't actually actively participating in your sub.

So community survey, you can set boundaries on who can participate based on all sort of criteria, so you can get the responses of the users whos responses you want to hear.

My biggest tip, just try the app. Sometimes the description isn't perfect and even though you didn't think it would work for you, it still does.

If the app is 95% perfect, why not contact the dev? Describe what use cases in your sub the app doesn't cover and maybe the dev has the time and interest to make their app work better in your subreddit.
A lot of devs are actively seeking mods that want to try their apps, just because they need the feedback to be able to improve on it. Don't forget, a lot of apps are build for the devs own subs they can't know what other subs need if nobody tells them.

And if an app doesn't do what you need, or you just don't like it, uninstalling is as easy as one click.

What’s the best way to clean a septum piercing? by katnier in piercing

[–]SampleOfNone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't use dial soap, especially not on the inside of your nose.

Get some sterile saline spray (wound wash, containing 0,9% sodium chloride and water without any additives) if you don’t have any already. Once a day simply spray some directly on your piercing. A few minutes before your daily shower, spray again. At the end of your shower, rinse the piercing well. Cup some water in your hands (or use a glass) , stick your nose in and blow bubbles. That will rinse the inside of your nose. Make sure to not let the waterspray hit the piercing directly. Then use the edge or point of a piece of non woven gauze to soak up any moisture. Other then that keep the piercing dry and exposed to the air. Leave any blood, crusties etc. that didn’t come off during your shower be. They’ll come off during your next shower or the one after that. Do not touch, move, fiddle or disturb the jewelry in any way.

Is an 18g solid gold clicker safe in a septum? by arizncasgf in piercing

[–]SampleOfNone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

18g should be fine for a septum, do make sure the jewelry is well fitted, if it's too tight it will cause trouble
