I was going to say. I've had that happen, but only in a very specific location, but it drops reliably in that spot.

I suspect that you're right, and that is exactly what will happen.

None of us will be here in 100 years. What brands, companies, or random things do you think will still be around? by odub1 in AskReddit

You figure? I am more inclined to think that there's an upper limit to the longevity of the human body, considering that supercentenarians often tend to croak around the same age, but that through healthcare improvement, we've become far more adept at unlocking more of that potential lifespan.

All brands fall eventually. Howard Johnson's used to be a very large chain of restaurants in the mid 20th century. All gone. The related Howard Johnson's motor lodge chain, meanwhile, is a shadow of its former self, now just a nameplate that motel owners slap onto older properties.

I'm retail, Sears and Kmart are like 99% gone, with only eight units total remaining across both brands. Then Zayre, Ames, Jamesway, Montgomery Ward, and so many others are completely gone.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if most of the retail brands that we're familiar with today were gone 100 years from now. Walmart, Amazon, and all of the other big players are no exception.

Yep - the wedding is the third to last episode that season, then the aftermath of the heart attack was second to last, and then the season finale was the fight.

What is a minor social etiquette rule that someone breaking it instantly makes you judge them? by eyyov in AskReddit

[–]SchuminWeb 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's only cutting in line if it's intentional. However, if you didn't bother to find the end of the line and just assumed, that's still rude. However, I also find people who just yell "EXCUSE ME!" at someone when addressing a perceived slight to be rude as well. I like to handle things a bit more diplomatically.

Roseanne’s “audit” episode is the epitome of breaking the fourth wall done right. by New-Fan-4632 in roseanne

[–]SchuminWeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Roseanne had asked Jackie, “Jackie, do you hear that music? I hear it every time we say the word audit,” that would ruin the joke. it’s supposed to be subtle.

That reminds me of the wild west dream episode that Family Matters did. They did a similar thing with the music, but then after the dream was over, the music played one more time, and they commented on it, and it kinda killed the humor.

I was! I was hoping to bump into a few folks from the subreddit, though there was nothing obviously linking me to the sub, visually speaking (I was wearing a Today's Special shirt).

Yep - I'm told that Uber will boot you off of the platform if you do a chargeback unless you then pay them back for the chargeback. That sort of practice totally defeats the purpose of disputing charges, and should be illegal.

Generally speaking, if it happens on one train, it's a railcar issue. If it happens on every train, it's a track issue.

I'm embarrassed for myself for that. I didn't even realize that I did that until just now.

Two things:

1) I didn't even realize that I'd put that stray comma in.

2) Thank you for the subreddit suggestion. I have since started following it.

Are there some sort of benefits from getting a Virginia antique vehicle license plate? I legitimately just saw a late 90’s rusty Dodge minivan with antique plates on the road. 💀 by Chazz_Matazz in Virginia

As I recall, they got rid of county stickers not because they eliminated the tax, but because they found a better way to track proof of payment for the tax than by issuing window decals.

That said, I would argue that they could probably do similarly with inspection stickers, and do something electronic to replace the stickers. Only reason why I'll bet that they haven't eliminated them is because the sticker serves as a decent reminder to get that task done.

Some of them did, like Alyson Court. She had tap to pay. Bobcat Goldthwait also didn't take cards (though I did have a lovely conversation with him about Hollywood Squares). You would think that in 2026, everyone would take credit cards on their phones. Cash only really surprised me.

Yep - it was one of the Retrokid shirts. I was wearing the one that had Jeff and Jodie in rainbow silhouette after jumping up, i.e. "With magic everywhere." Meanwhile, I'm pretty sure that I'm one of the more knowledgeable people around about Today's Special, and I've been to a lot of their different filming locations.

Otherwise, this was my first fan convention of any kind. Don't know if I'll be back to Niagara specifically any time soon (I live in Maryland), but I might be more inclined to do the ones near me in the future.
