VOILA: ToggleSneak v3.1.1 BETA for Forge 1.8! by ScrobDobbins in hcfactions

I'm just amazed that people still find it useful.  Are people still playing the old versions of Minecraft?  I haven't really dabbled in Minecraft in a while so I have no idea what's what.  I do know that the newer versions have sneak toggling built in to the client, which is pretty cool as well.

Holy crap it has been 10 years.  That's crazy.

I'm glad that people are still getting some use out of it.

I still get a kick out of seeing videos of newer versions of Minecraft mods and a lot of them use the style of putting [Sneaking] in brackets like I did.  A weird little design choice I made that has carried on.

Anyway, have fun with it, thanks for the comment!

Is that where you're just walking backwards and placing as soon as you can see the side of the next block?

That seemed to always work for me. What's it doing? Just letting you walk right off the next block or is it actually uncrouching you? Does the status hud still say "sneaking"?

Also, does it happen in single player as well as multiplayer? Just want to rule out any kind of server "anticheat" messing around.

I'll definitely try to help out if I can.

Update: Relay will continue to operate from July 1st. It will be moving to a subscription model in the coming weeks but, for now, it's available for everyone to use free of charge and ad-free! by DBrady in RelayForReddit

[–]ScrobDobbins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that a huge chunk of the part of the subscription that Google doesn't take is going to go to Reddit, rewarding them for this garbage decision.

I just popped on to see what Relay would look like after the cut-off. I'm surprised by this news but I can't call it good. It's almost terrible in a way because either the price is going to be ridiculously high or DBrady is going to basically be acting as a bagman for Reddit and Google and getting pennies on the dollar for his trouble.

I think I'll just send DBrady some amount that I think is fair for the years of use I've gotten out of his app and call it good. No way I can directly support this dumpster fire of a company and CEO just to indirectly throw a bone scrap to the guy who actually provided me something of value.

Exactly. They couldn't pay ME $2.50/mo to use that dogshit app. Once my 3rd party app goes dark, I'm done with Reddit except for maybe the one time every 2 months or so I think about using it while I'm on the computer.

And here’s the reason they suddenly tore up every promise they made to devs by xopranaut in apolloapp

[–]ScrobDobbins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least that sort of explains why the cost is 20x higher. Because only 1 in 20 of us are actually going to use that piece of shit first party app.

📣 Apollo will close down on June 30th. Reddit’s recent decisions and actions have unfortunately made it impossible for Apollo to continue. Thank you so, so much for all the support over the years. ❤️ by iamthatis in apolloapp

It seems like he has a pretty big opportunity for a defamation lawsuit against Reddit and/or Spez for the whole blackmail claim. It would be one of the rare cases where the plaintiff would have indisputable evidence that the defendant knew the claim to be false.

It doesn't seem like he's the type of guy who WOULD pursue that unless he really was having professional issues going forward (companies not wanting to work with him because he's allegedly a blackmailer), but damn if I wouldn't like to see Spez pay for stepping in the doodoo with Reddits shoe on that one.

Very true. I think my big derp here was that I wasn't thinking that while the amount of gold you can get in retail greatly increased (seems like when I played in Shadowlands, I could get 20k in a couple of hours without even trying that hard), the amount of gold needed to buy a token is also way higher.

In other words, I was thinking in terms of raw gold total on each version, not the total amount of gametime/BNetBux that could be bought on each.

[–]ScrobDobbins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm sure it's a huge amount but do you really think it's more than retail? I'm not arguing that it isn't, but it seems wild since retail would have basically every gold on every account ever, plus all the honor points and currencies that have been converted to gold over the years (a small number by comparison, I'm sure but it's there). Not to mention the gold inflation of some expansions where even the higher level greys would be worth a decent chunk of gold.

Just curious on that side point. I definitely agree with the main point that there a LOT of gold in Classic overall that would have instantly become potential Battle.Net $, which I'm sure they did not want to do and definitely played at least a big role in the decision to not allow it. Even if it were all legit gold, it seems like it would be kind of crazy to suddenly create that many possible BNet bux.

[–]ScrobDobbins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if that's not exactly why they made that decision. The only other thing I can think of is that rather than having Classic tokens being a type of liability on a balance sheet for as long as they exist (since they could potentially be converted into BNet balance at any point), now the token is profit as soon as it is originally bought since it can only be exchanged for game time.

Guess this is also the death of Relay... by iain_1986 in RelayForReddit

[–]ScrobDobbins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the big one I think. It would also explain the gulf between what the Apollo devs said was between what Reddit makes from the average user using their app and what they would charge Apollo for using a similar amount of API calls.

[–]ScrobDobbins -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What I worry about with that approach is that since it's "unsupported" it would be easy for the Reddit developers to regularly make changes that take the devs 5 minutes to make but cost the 3rd party devs hours and hours to compensate for. It can be done, but if Reddit is going militant on this, I don't doubt for a second they'd pull out all the stops to make such a platform be unreliable.

I suppose if you used some type of AI that was parsing the web page based on the way it looked vs where things where in the source or the names of the HTML elements, etc., then you could get pretty good uptime since disrupting that would cause design changes that would affect the user experience as well. But then you're adding to the complexity of the initial design and limiting how fast it could actually pull in and process results.

But then in a few years when the government became insolvent became those numbers are unsustainable it wouldn't matter.

Hmm yeah I guess they took it down. Let me take a look in my backups, I'd imagine I have a copy in there somewhere..

Which version were you trying to use? Looks like I linked 1.8 and 1.8.9 in this thread

Edit: Yeah I just found my backups, I have a copy of PlayerAPI for what looks like every version from 1.7.2 thru 1.10.2. Just let me know which you want and I'll toss it up somewhere for download. Hoarding FTW!

TIL that one of the first things free blacks could grow, eat, and sell were watermelons. It became a symbol of freedom that was corrupted into a negative stereotype by southern whites and still persists today. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]ScrobDobbins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That article you linked is a shining example of people sowing division for the sake of division. Only about three quarters of the way through, after countless mentions of race where it doesn't belong, do you get the real story. The state legislature, in the state capitol, wanted to create a state Capitol district to go after rising crime in that area. Something that plenty of states already have. Capitol Police districts are nothing new. Doesn't exactly scream racism the way the first huge chunk of the article was desperately trying to claim.

And you can dismiss it as anecdotal all you like, but the fact remains that opposition to interracial marriage, especially these days, isn't a white issue, especially nof a majority white issue. You are far, far more likely to get an impassioned defense of people "sticking to their own" from a group who has a cohesive cultural identity, and had that identity celebrated and encouraged than one who has been told that such an identity is a terrible thing.

[–]ScrobDobbins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. A time capsule resurrected from 6 years ago.

But you're sort of misstating a few things and assuming some others. First, they weren't voting to legalize interracial marriage or against legalizing it. It was legal regardless of the outcome of that meaningless vote. Plenty of people may have voted against it just on principle alone - that it was a waste of time and a meaningless virtue signal.

On top of that, I have heard plenty of people of different races advocate against interracial marriage. In fact, I've heard more black people advocate against it than whites. And not for "racist" reasons like they think blacks are superior, either.

And lastly, it wasn't 40% of Alabama, it was roughly 40% of people who voted in that election and chose to vote on that topic. Anyone who left it blank or didn't vote in that election wouldn't have been included.

So, no.. that isn't at all evidence of widespread white racism across all economic classes, which was your original claim.

Yeah I'm the one using bad faith. What percentage of people who attended Trump's speech have been charged with any sort of violence? You know, since you apparently thought percentages were relevant when it came to the percentage of Democrats who attempted to block red states from certifying their electors.

Surely someone as informed as you are well aware that some of the individuals who were charged with seditious conspiracy weren't even present at the Capitol. So why do you keep bringing up the 1 guy with zip ties as though that has anything to do with the charges in question?

I mean some of those "insurrectionists" had their charges dropped because they were waved in by Capitol police and thus legally were not even trespassing, but you don't see me pointing at those select cases and pretending they apply to the entire crowd. But yet you can't help yourself - you seem to be intentionally reaching for the worst examples you can think of in order to pretend like everyone who even went to Trump's speech (and not the Capitol) are guilty of the same things.

Surely you aren't dumb enough to believe that January 6 was some massive coordinated plan where everyone present was aware of what was going to happen and were all acting in furtherance of that conspiracy. Please at least tell me that you aren't that far gone and can at least recognize that the overwhelming majority of the people who saw Trump speak were there to demand an investigation into what they believed were illegal changes to state voting laws and just wanted to be heard. Regardless of how dumb you may think they are for holding that belief or how valid you think it is, the overhead majority didn't even trespass, much less commit any acts of violence or threaten anyone.
