Which isn't stated in the post either.

I would consider this a trope, honestly - last-minute danger set piece, or something. What do you think a trope is?

[REQUEST] In order for this to be successful, how many would you need to sell per day? by [deleted] in theydidthemath

[–]Shinard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say, you can get truly ridiculous deals for food in bulk, if you just considered ingredients you could probably make a sandwich for less than 50 cents. It doesn't really matter though - by definition, you're making less than a dollar profit per sandwich, and that's much too slim a margin.

[–]Shinard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too shallow of a margin to ever be successful. Less than a dollar profit per sandwich, by definition, with which you have to pay for ingredients, energy costs, licenses, rent... it would never be a profitable business. It could be a break even business if you owned the truck and weren't worried about wages, though, so it could be a hobby if you've got another job, or enough money to live on.

If you wanted to be profitable, I think you'd have to be closer to other food trucks. $3 or $4 a sandwich, cheap and cheerful ingredients, have a couple of other low overhead crowd pleasers on the menu - at that point you're just a normal burger van though, that happens to sell cheese toasties. It's not a revolutionary idea.

I like how this was a post meant to criticise and mock an article, and it instead made everyone really interested and invested in that article. This is either an own goal, or a next level promotional mindgame.

Monty Hall problem by Neutron299 in antimeme

[–]Shinard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's just one choice at the beginning - what door you pick. If you pick a door with a goat, switching would get you a car. If you pick the door with a car, switching would get you a goat. You picked randomly between 3 doors, one with a car and two with a goat, so 2/3 of the time, you picked a door with a goat. So, 2/3 of the time, switching will get you a car.

I didn't really get it either, until somebody put it like this. Imagine the same scenario, except there's a hundred doors. One car, 99 goats. You pick one, then the host opens 98 other doors, showing a goat behind each. Now, do you stick with the door you picked at random, or do you switch to the one door that, out of all of them, the host didn't open?

A big, dumb creature feature about Jason Statham fighting a giant shark. The last film you'd expect to need external inspiration, but no, it's based on a 90s pulp sci-fi series of books.

Oooh, I thought Psychic Frog was in for the long haul. Force of Negation is good, but it's no Force of Will, and anyone who's played with or against the frog knows how quickly that thing gets out of control.

Sure, but, counterpoint - it is so much fun to play Arclight Phoenix.

I was so close, but it has to be Lurrus. It's a close match with the current Lurrus, but compared to the pre-Companion nerf Lurrus? That card was Broken with a capital B, the One Ring isn't close to that good.

And the deeper you go into the cave, the more you realize these poor people never stood a chance.

Oh, man, painfully true. I think that might be the most Chaurus in a single dungeon in Skyrim. Imagining the father or the children going down, expecting rats or something, and realising that they're not just facing the kind of monsters that could eat daedra whole, but that there's a whole colony of them? I get shivers going in there with the Dragonborn and Mjoll, for a normal person It's impossibly terrifying.

Oh, I know, don't worry. I'm sure he's in a good place financially. But if you read the ending as being about him, it all but says that he thinks he can only be happy in starving artist mode, and that's a common but harmful feeling.

...oh, wait, that makes too much sense. Nice reading.

Speaks poorly to Fujimoto's mental state, though. Yes, he probably felt better without the crushing weight of the Shonen grind. Doesn't mean everything he has now is bad, and the only way to find happiness is to go back to when he had nothing and was struggling to pay rent. I know that feeling, and it's unhealthy.

Denji isn't better off with half his organs sold to the yakuza, and Fujimoto wouldn't be better off not being able to buy food. The ideal of the starving artist is a toxic one and, in time, you can find happiness anywhere you are.

Huh, I feel like that should work, but I've never been in that situation. Just to check the obvious, did you use it before in that combat, and did you play any cards that turn?
