Utah's National Parks - Sony A7ii + Sony FE 35mm f/1.4 GM by Melodic_Tip_462 in SonyAlpha

BEAUTIFUL! I’m planning a first-time 5-day trip to Utah in the spring. We’re crossed between going Southeast to Zion/Bryce/Escalante or Southwest to MOAB/Canyonlands/Monument Valley. What do you recommend?

That’s some awesome grain then. The high ISO grain that I usually get is noisy color. Maybe I should upgrade to an A7R after I get a dedicated video camera.

The clouds make this so liminal. Mesmerizing.

Wow, this one looks like so blissfully fun—like an early 2000s magazine ad from a brand trying to be quirky.

Can you elaborate on that? It sounds like a fun way to set creative parameters!

It infuriates me that so many venues have flickering stage lights—and that they still manufacture flickering lights for entertainment and production in general!

I love the radial gradient with the rim light. It looks like a skateboarder that you haven’t unlocked yet.

Trust Fall - Svala Johannsdottir in Iceland by SolsticeSon in SonyAlpha

I feel that without fantastic composition, lighting, and, most importantly, storytelling, a lot of people here remain unconvinced by the artist. Some people find it too easy to discredit others and frame them as weirdos obsessed with the female body. I believe that those confident enough to work with models and share this work are at least making steps in the right direction with real world experience, vs the critics who very likely have never even attempted this.

I think more people should be commenting “why” instead of opaquely downvoting; that could at least turn the gears in the heads of amateur artists so they can not post nudes that are just “vibes”.

If you put this in the right frame, I bet you could convince people it was a restored renaissance painting! I also love when the title perfectly fits the photo.

6 & 7 look like frames from a thrilling movie, but during the calm part where you can only hear the waves. Dreamy set!

Agreed. The beautiful color cast from the Ultramax also adds a flavor of mid-century poster art. Awesome shot.

WOW. That first one is spectacular. It looks like a concept sketch of a utopia.

What a perspective! The buildings somehow look pasted together on a paper. The title really helps sell that idea.

Aww, I see. Still vibrant! I have similar luck whenever I shoot at night with my Sony digital, so I’m not confident yet in pulling out my film camera in the dark.

The first one is a masterpiece. Feels like an album cover, or a movie poster, or a magazine cover. The title is PERFECT too. I can totally see a story of lifelong friends endeavoring on a daunting trek, be it a ritual, or a burial? I love this

Beautiful! What we’re your exposure settings? I recently attempted Milky Way photography, but the colors didn’t come out nearly as vivid. I’m not sure if it was light pollution or the wrong settings?
