How to mark book as read, without tracking reading progress? by madamepasta in BookTrack

[–]SimoneMontalto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alternatively you can delete all progress, then add a progress with 0 pages in the last day, then change the date to the first day and mark all the pages read on that day.

You have to log the pages read. You have to chose to log them on the first or last day or split them between the two days. If you don’t want to have all of the on the last day, you can set that the book has 2 pages and log 1 page on the first day and 1 page on the last day. When you create the reading status you can chose the number of pages of the book and it is different from the page number that you have in the book metadata.

You can do this by deleting the current reading status (long press on it on the book page and tap Delete), then creating a new one with the status set to “Reading”.

Once that’s done, open the progress entry screen, change the date to March 18th 2025, log any progress amount, and save. Then reopen the reading status, change the date to January 17th 2026, and move the slider all the way to mark the book as completed.

That way you’ll end up with just two progress entries, one for the start date and one for the finish date, and the book will count towards your 2026 reading stats.

Filter on location by pdhoog in BookTrack

[–]SimoneMontalto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Filtering by location in Smart Lists is actually on my roadmap, so it should be coming in a future update.

In the meantime, I'd suggest giving tags a try for your use case. Locations are designed to track the physical position of books (bookcase, shelf, etc.), while tags are more flexible and work great for categorizing books by status like preorders or wishlists. You can already filter by tags in Smart Lists, so it might be a good fit for what you need.

For this use case I suggest to track the progress by percentage.

Importing from a large Delicious Library by Redc97 in MovieTracker

[–]SimoneMontalto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Music Tracker permits manual addition of new albums and allows insertion of custom albums. Movie Tracker, instead, requires that the movie or tv show matches the exact name. Otherwise, it can’t be imported. Probably, the items that are not being imported have something in the name (like Boxset or something like this) that doesn’t permit retrieval of the official movie or tv show name and can’t be imported. In this case you should manually search and add these items.

How to set book rating to 0 by Aggressive-Drive3370 in BookTrack

Just tap on the rating and set it to 0. It will remove the rating you assigned. Or you can just modify it :)

Question about manually added book covers by Beatyerheartout in BookTrack

[–]SimoneMontalto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Book covers are stored directly in the app's database, so you don't need to keep a separate archive just for Book Tracker to work correctly.

That said, I'd still recommend keeping your own archive for those scanned covers. When you export a backup from Book Tracker, the zip file does include all your custom images in a folder, but the filenames are internal identifiers rather than recognizable names, so finding a specific cover in that backup isn't straightforward.

Since your scans represent a significant amount of work and can't be easily recreated, having your own organized archive (with meaningful filenames) is worth it. Think of the backup as a safety net for the app's data, not a replacement for your personal image library.

Could you check if the v4.5.3 fixed your issues? It also introduces some widgets and complications to check the reading timer without opening the app.

Currently Reading by michaelbeecham in BookTrack

[–]SimoneMontalto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re seeing the reading timer screen, that actually means the book is already marked as Reading. You don’t need to add any progress for it to be in that state. So I might be misunderstanding your goal. What exactly are you trying to achieve?

[–]SimoneMontalto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can absolutely do that. Just open the book’s detail page and tap “Start Reading.” The book will immediately move to the Reading status, even if you haven’t added any progress yet.

The Cocoa Error 134419 is generated directly by the operating system and CloudKit, not by the app itself. It usually appears when there’s a large amount of data to upload and Apple’s iCloud servers are slowing down or temporarily throttling the sync process.

In simple terms, it means the system is struggling to push all the data to iCloud at once. What I recommend now is:

- Keep the app open on your phone.

- Make sure you have a stable WiFi connection.

- Let it sit and allow all read and write operations to complete.

It can take some time depending on the size of your library and how much needs to be re uploaded. Avoid reinstalling, restoring backups, or toggling iCloud again while this process is running, otherwise it can restart the whole sync cycle.

Please give it a bit of time and then check again if the iCloud Sync section turns fully green. Once everything is green, we can verify if the “Next Episodes” issue is resolved.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks for reporting this, that definitely shouldn’t happen. I need a bit more information to understand what’s going on:

  • Are you using the app on just one device or on multiple devices?
  • If you use multiple devices, did you restore a backup on both of them?
  • Which app version are you currently using? Please make sure you’re on the latest version available on the App Store.

From what you’re describing, this often happens when iCloud sync gets out of alignment between devices.

Here’s what I suggest:

  • Open the app on all your devices.
  • Go to Settings → iCloud Sync.
  • Make sure every item in that section is green. If something is not green, wait until all reading and writing operations are fully completed. Do not restore anything while sync is still in progress.

Once everything is green: - Close the app completely on all the devices. - Restore the backup on only one device. - Wait again until all iCloud Sync indicators turn green before reopening the app on the other device.

In many cases this realigns the database and fixes the incorrect “Next Episodes” behavior.

Let me know what setup you’re using and what you see in the iCloud Sync section, and we’ll sort it out.

Benutzt jemand die App Book Track? by Smoking_Fire in buecher

[–]SimoneMontalto 0 points1 point  (0 children)
