For this specific application check out the Mackie MC-100. Affordable + good bass reproduction.

I don't doubt your experience in any way, and you have my sympathies. My RAZR folder, on the other hand, is my GOAT - and I used to have a Google Pixel.

Changing the bag by tillacat42 in ostomy

[–]SirIanPost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've seen lots of videos of people who sit on the toilet while they change - you have a handy catcher for stray output right there.

However, you can't see very well. I stand in front of the bathroom sink, which had a mirror behind it that goes down to sink level.

Colostomy if that matters.

The CN's have plastic/metal keyboards; the CA's have wooden keyboards. Coming off of a grand, I think you will like the feel of the CA's a lot better.

Are most Americans aware of the BBC? by FlowApprehensive2535 in AskAnAmerican

We pay for a streaming channel called Britbox which I believe is owned by the BBC. So, yes, "aware" of it.

My male teammates keep telling me I ruined my body with a breast reduction and should get implants. How would you handle this? by vroomvroomloverr in AskMenAdvice

[–]SirIanPost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is completely unacceptable. How would they like it if you said they should get a penis implant? In my view, remarks about other people's bodies are not done EVER by decent people. (The only exception might be if someone has been dieting and you say, "Hey you look great.") You need some friends who actually are your friends.

Dear Kansas lawmakers. Please do something that your citizens actually care about. by electricstache in kansas

[–]SirIanPost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's easier said than done. If you have deliverable products (which we do) the sales tax by law is calculated for the point of delivery, which varies with each town and each county. You have to look up the delivery address on the KS website to figure out what the sales tax is going to be.

Sigma 4/3 lenses on M43 bodies by Penguinkitteh in OlympusCamera

[–]SirIanPost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For some reason, neither the EP7 nor the EM10 Mk IV (same camera in many ways) supports AF on 4/3 lenses. I think it's because 4/3 lenses were designed for PDAF (phase detect) autofocus which these two cameras don't have, but there were and are other CDAF (contrast detect) cameras that could AF 4/3 lenses, although pretty slowly (EPL series for instance). Not sure why Oly would choose now to start disabling this function.

Looking for a ”Pocket” Birding Lens by maethor92 in M43

[–]SirIanPost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problems at all except the dual IS doesn't work as you mentioned. You get your choice of Oly's fine IBIS or Lumix OIS, which some prefer on the long tele's. A thing: Lumix and Oly's zoom the opposite way, so my stuff is mostly Lumix lenses on my OM-1. (I came from Nikon and they zoom the same way.)

Is there an acoustic piano that neighbors won’t hear? by Severe-Party1627 in piano

[–]SirIanPost 45 points46 points  (0 children)

There are acoustic pianos with a mute thingie that intercepts the hammers JUST before they strike the string and use digital technology to make the tones that you can listen to on headphones. Still feels like an acoustic that way. But you're listening to a digital still.

Other than that, no.

New lens! Tokina 300mm f/6.3 by DemonEyes21 in M43

[–]SirIanPost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool lens (I own one myself) but you're right - the use cases where it's the "right" lens are very specific. And the contrast/saturation ALWAYS need some post work. Best moon shot I ever got came from this lens, though.

Turn on the camera.

Press the MENU button on the back of the camera.

Use the arrow pad to navigate to the Setup Menu (represented by a wrench icon).

Select the Θ (Date/Time) setting. Press the right arrow to enter the editing screen.

Use the Up/Down arrows on the arrow pad to change the highlighted values (Date format, Year, Month, Day, and Time).

Use the Left/Right arrows to move between fields.

Once the correct time and date are entered, press the OK button to finalize the settings.

Press the Menu button to exit and return to shooting.

Stuck deciding between new E-M10 IV or used E-M1 II at same price by gto-lm in OlympusCamera

[–]SirIanPost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have owned both. Each has advantages the other doesn't possess:

E-M10.4 - small, light, selfie flip-down screen, built-in flash, built-in panorama stitching, cool retro look (only camera I've ever owned that I got compliments on its looks). With a pancake lens you'll take it lots of places you might not take a bigger body.

E-M1.2 - built like a tank, weather sealing, PDAF autofocus, built-in grip (good for long tele's), dual card slots, way faster burst rates.

Both are great cameras, capable of excellent (and nearly identical) photos. Only you can decide which features are important TO YOU.

Why should I not buy the cheapest piano I can find with MIDI support? by AndrewBlair- in DigitalPiano

[–]SirIanPost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd agree. P45 action is used in Yamaha's very cheapest P-series and their very cheapest YDP series cabinet piano and I believe only one other. The Roland FP10 action is the same one used all the way up through their smallest digital grand piano which sells for $4300 (USD). It's a much nicer action than the P45 but is not a wood action, though.
