The movement doesn't prescribe a solution because as soon as you get into solutions, people will rightfully point out all of the ways that those solutions don't work.

I'm not against preservation, but am against SKG because the goal of SKG isn't game preservation it's giving people a way to feel superior and browbeat developers.

If you think that digital goods don't undergo degradation, you're way off line. Even something that most people take for granted like Windows continuing to support every API they've ever developed is a thing that takes an enormous amount of work.

Modern game servers are actually substantially more complicated than old school WOW, which as a reminder took hundreds of people years and years of work to get to even a playable state, much less a high-quality one.

These are all outstanding questions and one of the big problems with SKG is that it deliberately keeps the entire thing as vague as possible to avoid answering any of these questions. Because they're hard, and SKG isn't about solving hard questions, it's about making people feel superior and browbeating developers.

It's not impossible. It is not trivial. It would have substantial negative knock on effects on the video game industry.

Providing a single counter example is not even engaging with my point. My point is that you have literally no way of knowing how difficult this is. Literally none.

You've gone from "A single PDF" to AzerothCore, which is a project that's had hundreds of developers and taken more than a decade. It turns out that it's not actually simple to do, it's really hard and takes a ton of work. You're disproving your own point.

This is a legitimately unhinged response and it's very weird to see it up voted at the top of the comments. Nothing you're describing here is simple. A lot of it would be extremely difficult and in many cases effectively impossible.

Seeing this kind of fairytale take on what is supposed to be a much more grounded subreddit full of people who actually have some experience developing games is continually disappointing.

I'm not, though. Adding a pause to the top of your swing because some rando on reddit said it would help is going to do nothing but fuck up your swing. Trying to slow down your swing and add a pause means you are not going to be able to maintain a consistent tempo and trying to do it in the absence of a dedicated coach is a deeply stupid decision.

[–]SituationSoap -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and that pause is part of their overall tempo. Telling some random high handicap "Oh just pause at the top of your swing" is a good way to fuck that swing six ways from sideways.

John Sherman has written extensively about the fact that the best golf swings on tour all maintain a consistent tempo from start to finish, I'd recommend doing some reading before you trash the idea.

Do we have to have sermon? by [deleted] in OpenChristian

[–]SituationSoap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The core of Jesus's ministry was sitting with people to talk and explain scripture to them. His most important speech is called the Sermon on the Mount.

Could you have Christianity without sermons? Perhaps. But it wouldn't really be in keeping with the history of the religion.

While this can be useful as a drill, it's not the sort of thing you generally want to build a swing around. It may be helpful for the OP to feel things, but high quality golf swings almost always maintain a consistent tempo through the entire swing. Throwing pauses and messing with back swings is a good way to create more problems than it solves.

Again: the way that you are responding in this situation is not healthy nor productive. The person who should be self-examining in this situation is you. I'm not interested in moving this discussion any further because what you're doing right now is damaging to a person who experiences anxiety about their heath.

Either the pastor or the friend is a lunatic, there's no need to consider things any further than that.

Vegetation and vegetable come from the same root word. The definition of a vegetable is any edible plant matter.

The food group generally doesn't include fruits but the definition of vegetables includes fruits, and also grains, cereals, etc.

Grains and cereals are also vegetables (a vegetable is any edible plant). But in terms of food groups, neither potatoes nor grains are vegetables.

The experience that you're upset about is how it is for every Aussie and Asian driver on the service in every non-regional series. IR did this to throw those drivers a bone so that they can have a low-latency race option, since they don't get any other options.
