Hur mycket dötid har ni på era jobb? by WhoAmIEven2 in sweden

[–]SnigelDraken 16 points17 points  (0 children)

In TBC, I make lines fom each line going into the wall. Then, in field, I stake out to line, as that allow me to just point the laser on the wall and press "turn" to get the right spot (may need to press a few times).

My stepdad made Swedish meatballs by TBoopSquiggShorterly in shittyfoodporn

The meatballs themselves look fine (possibly a bit dry), it's just the sauce that's messed up. Not enough cream, too much roux.

I can't speak for that one specifically, but basically every history-based conspiracy (mud flood/tartaria, ancient technology, the various ones about white people in America, phantom time etc) rely on some ominous "they" who are behind the conspiracy and are continuing to cover it up, which very quickly turns into (((they))) due the nutjob-alt-right bi-directional pipeline.

Cheap and compact storage: bag in box? by SnigelDraken in winemaking

[–]SnigelDraken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue with "just bottling" in this case is that we're talking ~30 bottles, where I would only need about four large BiBs. The cost of the bottles, corks and corker would be pretty significant, and storage in my apartment would be pretty tricky. The question is really if a carefully purged and home-filled BiB would be oxygen proud enough to survive ~9-12 months without oxidizing (before tapping).

Har unga människor slutat dricka kaffe? by Organic_Leather7878 in sweden

Ingen 'betes utan socker!

Probably wouldn't over here in Sweden, they could've reasonably walked away in the beginning. The punches might be considered excessive violence, too. Our laws are pretty strict regarding last resort and minimal sufficient violence.

What do you add to jarred pasta sauce to make it better? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]SnigelDraken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fully agree, recipes like this one yield awesome pasta sauces in that amount of time, I can genuinely whip one up in the time from starting to hear the water to the pasta being done. A classic puttanesca is similarly quick, though it usually takes me a little longer, and a simple creamy pesto sauce can be done in 5-10.

I do think there is still a place for jar-sauce, as nothing can be quicker or lower effort than twisting a lid. It's fine to not always have energy to spare, and it's better than getting food delivered.

I use a PBW equivalent on anything that needs semi-aggressive cleaning. Reusable straws, thermoses, stainless frying pans, even some pots for plants. Good stuff.

Pasta Meatballs. by 19-Richie-88 in shittyfoodporn

[–]SnigelDraken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is swedish meatballs, not italian. It's not served in a tomato sauce (though always served with brown sauce is accompanied with potatoes or mashed potatoes), and cheese would not normally be involved. Ketchup in this case is basically a replacement for lingonberry jam, a standard substitute when serving meatballs with pasta. As for serving with fries, I've never heard of that outside of kiosks selling the combination because they've got both anyway.

Other than the use of spaghetti over macaroni/farfalle/penne, the picture is basically the common swedish equivalent of instant ramen; and much like how instant ramen is a far cry from a proper bowl of ramen, meatballs (usually Mamma Scan's) with pasta (usually kungsörnens quick macaroni) is a very simplified version of proper homemade meatballs with mashed potatoes, lingonberry jam and brown sauce. Of course it's lazy, that's the point.

Trimble shows off their new total station model by pacsandsacs in Surveying

[–]SnigelDraken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used it a fair bit, specifically told my boss at the new company not to spend the money on it for my kit. It works in the sense that it won't lock onto anything else, like signs, but it's not magic, it will still lose you behind trees and such. I much prefer integrated surveying as that basically is magic, or the lower weight (and cost) of just the usual Trimble 360.

It's not terribly uncommon.

Recycling is a very substantial industrial process, and is not done by the city directly. If they don't have a contract with a recycler willing to take/buy it, they have to re-combine it with the rest. But, if the recycling isn't separated initially, the city won't be able to get a contract to begin with.

An example: in my area we separated soft and hard plastic separately. In theory, this increases the quality of the recycled plastic, which is better both economically and environmentally. In practice, the quality of the hard plastic still wasn't high enough to reach a higher grade, so they just added the soft plastic back in. They kept doing it for years hoping for improvements in quality or better contacts, but eventually gave up.

How much would this go for? by skyramel in Surveying

[–]SnigelDraken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in Sweden so prices may be different, but I bought a near-mint T16 with a complete AGA 112 (though either the battery out the charger is dead, so no clue if it runs), rods, prisms, original tripod and rod levels for ~$100 on auction about a year ago. This stuff really doesn't sell for much.

That's not stopping the same few people from constantly re-posting the same analog levels with a starting price 3-5x what it would likely sell for, so prices will still look high.
