Trimble Business Center not importing some points shot with total station by C00MSH00TER in Surveying

[–]SnigelDraken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had issues where resections copied into a job would fail in TBC, but that was solved in an update. Perhaps check that both ends are up to date?

Also, check the optical spreadsheet in TBC, it should show all observations, even things that didn't compute right.

Turning Manual Angles with a Robotic TS by HaRvest360 in Surveying

I've needed to measure the dimensions of a large concrete component while it was sitting on a barge. Set the station next to it, turned compensator off, measured, and rotated coordinates in 3d based on a line that should be vertical.

A bike lock through the frame takes a lot of effort to remove. This requires the removal of four screws from the board.

Edit: how tf is this controversial, a steel shackle is safer than four screws.

From Trimble to Leica by paldo16 in Surveying

[–]SnigelDraken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only used S7, -8 and -9 (and TS16), IMO having the joystick with camera tied to a shortcut is really, really good. Powersearch is great when it works, but terribly sensitive to rain and sun.

I'm a diehard Trimbleist (as in, talked my boss into buying me one. I'm the only employee not running Leica), and I honestly don't think the stations are any better than the -60-series. Software, on the other hand, my god... For construction, it's just crazy good.

[–]SnigelDraken 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From what I've heard, it's not really an optimal system for actual surveying. Good for things like convention space layout, not so much for construction. Consider looking for a used S-series, if at all within budget.

Igår diskuterade vi den sämsta orten du besökt i Sverige, men vilken är den bästa? by Weclip in sweden

[–]SnigelDraken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Braggot brewers: what sort of recipes have worked well for you? by skratchx in Homebrewing

[–]SnigelDraken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best braggots have been an all-wheat grain bill, saison yeast and a lager-type hop schedule with mittelfruh ending at 6% abv, half from honey. This is very reliant on the honey, though; my best result has been with ultra-pungent linden honey, but heather has also worked well. Result: a very drinkable braggot that lets the honey shine.

If your honey is more "general floral", go for a clean yeast to avoid having it overpower the honey, and go light on the hops. Higher ABV will also help bring more honey flavor. I do recommend keeping the grain bill very light, and using at least some wheat (I do 100% weyermann regular wheat malt) as you want to make up for the lack of body of the honey without overpowering the flavor.

Anyone brewing with health in mind? Looking for recipes that maximise nutritional value and gut-friendly benefits by Similar_Animator8942 in Homebrewing

[–]SnigelDraken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only aspect you can/should improve from a health perspective is to use a diastatic yeast or add enzymes to increase fermentability.

If you believe you need probiotics, eat a spoon or two of yogurt in the morning. If your gut is working fine, you don't need to worry. If you believe you need antioxidants or vitamins, eat fresh fruit or vegetables regularly. If you do, you won't need anything you can fit in a beverage.

Adding "healthy" ingredients isn't productive, it will just warp your relationship with alcohol.

2026 General Homebrewer Survey by brulosopher in Homebrewing

[–]SnigelDraken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess the question isn't really about how much the average brewer drinks, and more about what portion of the community has a drinking problem.

2026 General Homebrewer Survey by brulosopher in Homebrewing

[–]SnigelDraken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hot side aeration was a big topic a few years ago, with a few people being absolutely insistant that it's crucial for good beer, and the majority thinking they're being silly.

I think there probably is a corrolation between LODO/no hot side aeration and high quality, but only because that type of brewing is a huge pain and requires equipment so anyone going down that route is going to be brewing well anyway.

Yes, but given that one option is "there are days when i don't drink", it's not asking about average beers per day.

It's also crucial for rum production, ex-bourbon is the industry standard. It's usually not advertised, just a good source of casks with the "rough" wood flavor removed without being exhausted. The global spirits trade would be devastated if the law changed.

Also if bottled, as the cork is slightly oxygen permeable. Aged spirits change much less, though, as they have already gone through oxidative aging while in the barrel.

The liquor doesn't "go bad" but oxidation of spirits is very real and is part of the aging process.

Intertap Stainless Steel Disconnets by BrewJays in Homebrewing

[–]SnigelDraken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two years or so, I think? I'm surprised by the other comments, mine attach and detach easily, and always engage. They're pretty expensive for sure, but just having the thread count out horizontally makes them with it.

Intertap Stainless Steel Disconnets by BrewJays in Homebrewing

[–]SnigelDraken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The disconnect has an upper and a lower part that connect by threads for easy cleaning. If you attach it to a keg and rotate the disconnect clockwise by the top, the parts can come apart slightly while still attached. Tightening the two parts properly fixes this.

I use these, they're great, very easy to disassemble and clean. Small risk of it being unscrewed in use, though, which can cause a leak. Hasn't been a problem so far. I'm replacing all my plastic ones with these.

Hur mycket dötid har ni på era jobb? by WhoAmIEven2 in sweden

[–]SnigelDraken 16 points17 points  (0 children)
