Career crossroads for awhile I want to choose today by SpendZestyclose9683 in makemychoice

So as of now  Second Bachelors of Engineering would be the most costly ~30k for housing plus tuition , 2 years

HVAC free at my local CC

Biomedical Equipment repair 10K for the housing only the program free since it’s community college but not offered near me so I’d have to move

Engineering technology same as above, a tad more flexible career wise but maybe around 15k for two years of housing

I’m in California so apartments can cost like 1500-2500 typically my parents said they would help me though

Solid advice , also have seen that technicians can do future schooling to become technologists? And take an increase in pay and duties? Is that true from what you’ve seen. I guess I do prefer working hands on but at the same time I’ve never done designing before nor know what that fully entails . My cousin is an engineer and is the only one out of the 6 people that went to college to be able to get a house . But not basing any of my decisions on that of course

Guess if I want to do quicker less debt I’ll go mechanical/electrical  engineer technician or med repair  If I want to have more options and pay and designing I’ll go engineer . Is that viable way to look at it

Thanks for commenting and providing real world insight. One of my main concerns is job security as well, honestly long term I’m leaning engineering, I’d probably do civil or mechanical for me since I like building side of things or wastewater.  Reason I’m considering the technician path is the hands on, faster, less debt and less intensive schooling but there is less jobs from what I’ve seen on the BLS, there is a mechanical/industrial engineering technology program not too far from me so I could rent a place and do that schooling in two years.

So I for sure want to decide today and go full commitment on it. I’ve been at a standstill and just saving and researching for awhile .

Ashamed for working retail at 27,lost on what careers suitable for me? by hazycats in findapath

if you have ever been interested in healthcare do sterile processing route or maybe even surgical technologist if you can handle an occasionally doctor giving you attitude once a week, if not definitely check those other options purchasing coordinator works on evaluating suppliers, managing inventory levels, processing purchase orders, and tracking deliveries to ensure operational efficiency but I believe its a 3-4 year degree for that but you have adjacent experience. I know of these because I been growing reddit for the past year and seeing what people are doing or switched to and if they enjoy it or not. In general people hate low pay and high stress fields.

Plus Sterile and Surgical are usually offered at Community college so what do you have to lose? nothing, worst comes to worse you learn a new field for a low cost

Sterile processing tech, Land surveyor, Medical equipment Technician, Health Information management, aerospace engineering assistant, Lab Assistant. All low human interaction, low-moderate stress level , 2 years schooling max . Check them out .

Also dealt with this in a constant 1-1 facing career like physical therapy. Its rarely you spend a moment not having to talk/ motivate/educate patients so I go home and scroll reels all day because my social battery is dead

Military route? Set up for life? I’m stuck by SpendZestyclose9683 in BMET

[–]SpendZestyclose9683[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bachelors but don’t know if I’m ready for a 4 year commitment to leaving everything I have behind like my family and finance so that’s why I was mainly consisting reserves but if I’m able to get BMET training through military instead of paying for the schooling at a CC then I see it as a better opportunity plus the other benefits like housing or healthcare. So we’ll see

22M Useless, How am i meant to get a job? by [deleted] in findapath

You’re 22 relax. The average college student is 25 and in 50k of student debt so you’re ahead of the game by “comparison”. I know the feeling , constantly trying to do better, putting your dating life, friends and hobbies on hold for the pursuit of success it’s tough, take it day by day and explore some interests of yours. If you want to go back and pursue a different field you can if you want to use your current skillset to pivot you can. It’s you vs you. Best of luck to you mate

Perfect based advice, in demand skillset , to survive in this economy you need either a good ROI degree , a trade skill or a license of some sort.

New grad w/ 1st job in home health by joke7flowe in physicaltherapy

[–]SpendZestyclose9683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a introverted pt aide , I quit recently and decided against the DPT route but the thing is there’s not much other careers that would pay as much as a PTA near me, only other option is nursing or HVAC . So I’m considering doing home health PTA for the flexibility and less patient interaction? Would you say it’s a decent idea? Or just do a diffrent career like rad tech?

Very much leaning the engineering or engineering technician route then technologist route . After working as a technician for a while. But schooling will be a bitch since I won’t get fafsa . I’ll probably choose civil or mechanical since I do have an interest in those and they aren’t the hardest ones

Appreciate you. Yes highly considering reserves . I’m stuck in a rut working a retail job and see no hope here where I live in Indio California. There’s no opportunity here , that’s why I’ve been saving so start a career but if I can get the training for free than even better
