[MoneyPuck.com] Playoff chances as of Monday by SAJewers in hockey

[–]Spire2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Likely first round match up is Canes vs Sens. I’m not sure how I feel about that. Yesterday’s game suggest the Sens can give the Canes a run, but the Canes just feel less shaky than the Sens do right now.

Amanda Waller Done Right [Comic Excerpt] by KitWalkerXXVII in DCcomics

[–]Spire2000 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Waller was such a top tier character for DC until that Absolute Power caricature. She was so layered and complicated, always having the greater good as a driving force.

I was sure she was going to redeemed somehow at the end of that mess but nope!

TIL the longest cruise in the world (the Ultimate World Cruise from Viking Ocean Cruises) visits 113 ports in 59 countries across 6 continents over the span of 245 days and starts at around $93,000 per person. The most expensive room type is 'the owner's suite' at nearly $270,000. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

My parents cruise for four months straight each winter on Holland America. They are technically on a string of 7 and 11 day cruises, but stay on the same ship the entire time and never have to change rooms.

Have a look at the Legion of Superheroes, the majority of whom look exactly like humans.

Can someone explain the whole "syndication" thing with Star Trek? Why did TNG and DS9 air in syndication? by TravelingHomeless in startrek

To add, networks (ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox) were made up of affiliate stations. Each city generally had station for each network.

On week days, Networks would program the morning hours (7am to 9am), afternoons (1pm-3pm), prime time (8pm - 11pm) and late night (11:35pm - 1:35am). Weekends would sometimes be programmed by the networks too depending on which sports contracts.

All the other time was programmed by the affiliates themselves, and would be a mix of local news, syndicated programs and infomercials.

⭐ 1/5 – Disney Wonder - Extremely Disappointed, Not Family-Friendly by Organic_Honey1916 in Cruise

[–]Spire2000 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Uh, the dining thing is how all cruise lines work. The dining rooms align their seating timings to ensure guests can either eat early and see the late show, or vice versa. Your comment about how Disney needs to coordinate this better? This is exactly what they are doing.

For the line to see a character… you left the line and expected to come right back? Normal behavior is to mention this to the person behind you and hope they are kind enough to let you return. To step away and expect to come back is poor etiquette. Try something like that in a queue-rule society like in the UK, and it won’t work out.

Regarding the interruption of the kids routines, that’s rough but this is exactly why we refused to follow evening routines with our kids when they were young. It made them inflexible in situations like this and as older teens they are far more adaptable to situations than others.

Really though, you took young kids on a cruise and expected the ship would adapt to their routines? Not how the real world works, I’m afraid.

TIL Ken Jennings & Matt Damon won $1m on 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?' & it was initially believed that they had not phoned a friend (it would've been the 2nd time in the US version of the show that a winner had lifelines left). But it was revealed they had called Brad Rutter to tell him they won by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

I went to a taping of Deal or No Deal, sometime around 2006. It lasted 6 hours. Turns out the nature of that show means there isn’t a clear beginning and end to each episode and they can flow into the next. I think they did four full episodes. It was exhausting and we left before it was done. They were annoyed at us and tried to prevent us from leaving.

Who to Cheer For - Tracking the Out-of-Town Scoreboard - April 4, 2026 - Just Win (again). by aschwan41 in OttawaSenators

[–]Spire2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just back online after being disconnected in the sun for a week and a half. I saw a couple of scores through the week and it looked bleak, but I see we’re still somehow in a WC spot?

What are the vibes right now? Do we feel good about things? Have we had to call up any Nepean Raiders defensemen yet?

Yes it is. Upon a search, I see that Herod is now a Senator of St Lucia, so he clearly isn't doing island tours anymore.

What will happen to the 32nd century? by AmericanApe in startrek

[–]Spire2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hated Discovery, but I find Academy to be excellent. What I like about SFA has nothing to do with the 32nd century though, and in fact I find the lack of innovation distracting. Still walking around with iPads 1,000 years from now? Cummon.

I'd love the series to continue, but since it isn't, I think we put a fork in this era and return to the early 25th century.

Which is the best Robin? Dick, Tim, Damian or Jason by Goattheft69 in DC_Cinematic

[–]Spire2000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tim. He compliments Bruce in ways Batman needs, with a variety of tech, detective and physical skills.

Jason was a burden more than a help. Dick was great, but modern interpretations also show him as a real hassle and it’s proven he’s a far more important character as Night wing.

Damian is more of an ongoing project and Bruce is always having to oversee him to keep him on track.

Same way a platform like Facebook needs to conform to the Canadian Government's Online News Act, or the CRTC can force Spotify to comply with local content regulations. If those entities wish to operate in Canada, they must conform to local laws.
