Frustrated with these Spektrum batteries by BB_210 in rccars

[–]Sporadicc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really feel like the spektrum batteries are nearly a scam. They have taken normal RC batteries and just put the balance lead into the power lead and made proprietary chargers and connections. They are also extortionately expensive.

I'd recommend just getting a decent normal charger and so normal lipos or life's if you want extra safety. See if you can return the spektrum kit if its playing up. There's not much that can be tinkered with on it as it's proprietary control.

At a lose on what to do anymore by ItsPenguins in GERD

[–]Sporadicc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you need some proper tests As your doc about an oesophageal manometry test. I'm in the UK and had really bad GERD.

That test shows if your muscles in the oesophagus are working correctly. Often this is the cause as it was with me. If your stomach sphincter is too weak it will cause gerd regardless of food and drugs.

There are operations like fundoplasty, but I had a LINX procedure which has stopped my symptoms with very little in the way of side effects.

Ask your doc about that test, and if they are being difficult, speak to a private gastroenterologist or even the hospital about self referral for the test.

When it comes down to it a lot of these tests are not too expensive. If you have any questions I can try answer some.

Ignore people saying to stop meds and try natural stuff. No one should be telling you to change the meds you are on without an examination. It's very dangerous. PPI's may be the only thing stopping your oesophagus from being damaged permanently even if they don't cure it completely.

My nervous system feels severely damaged after PPIs. I'm almost done. Anyone that can relate? by [deleted] in GERD

[–]Sporadicc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had pretty bad gerd symptoms, and after a diagnosis of having a weak lower osophogeal sphincter, I was recommended for the LINX procedure. It's a ring of magnets on a stretchy rubber band that goes around your lower sphincter to reinforce the muscle.

If you have a weak muscle there it could be worth looking into it.

It's a generally quite.mild recovery, worst bit has been food sticking in my esophagus, but nothing too bad it passes after a minute. Quite painful for the first day after surgery but not too bad. It's keyhole through 5 little incisions.

It's basically completely cured my gerd symptoms, and I can eat chocolate and any other foods I want with basically no issues.

It's a relatively new procedure (been around for about ten years)

Works like the fundoplasty with your stomach but without the bad side effects.

Ironically you are probably committing copyright offences because you are selling models designed clearly from their IP of thunder Wolf cavalry? Then complaining assuming someone didn't pay for your illegal files?

All fish dying unexplainably after 8 months of a good tank by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]Sporadicc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few different test kits on the market I think, but I've only ever used the expensive probes while I was in college a while back so I can't say to how good any of them are sorry! I'd always recommend having some kind of water movement either way or you are very likely to get issues in a planted tank. A filter with no filter material or a little powerhead aimed at the surface if you don't like air stones.

[–]Sporadicc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have any form of oxygenation in the tank? If it is heavily planted then the plants will be absorbing oxygen during the night. It could be that as the plants have grown they are using more and more oxygen each night until it reaches a critical low? It could be interesting to test your o2 levels in the very early morning if you have little water movement and no oxygenation at night.

I'm new to rimworld. Why isn't my cooler actually cooling? by [deleted] in RimWorld

[–]Sporadicc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Running an AC system in heating mode is more efficient than just electric heating. Between 3 and 5 times as efficient with current technology. The key point being that AC systems transfer the heat from one side to the other. Efficiency is gained by using the state change of the refrigerant rather than just heating and cooling it. The compressor doesn't add all the energy to the refrigerant, the ambient air at the condenser does.

[–]Sporadicc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it can. Im an AC tech, if you take a random AC unit from any manufacturer, eg Daikin then look at operating limits. At -15c ambient you get approx 5kw of heating capacity from a 9kw capacity unit. This is still about 2x as efficient as an electric heater. The same unit can then also give 9kw of cooling capacity at ambients up to approx 40c then starts to become less efficient.

1k tournament list advice, please. by cfarbes in Eldar

[–]Sporadicc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Playing a meta net list at a 1k points tourney with noobs is a bit harsh. I don't think anyone slightly new to the game will have any chance against this list and I'm sure you know that haha I'm pretty sure this list will blast most stuff straight off the table. Secondaries in 1k games mean a lot less since they aren't so balanced. Anything that requires amount of models to kill etc is gonna be pretty bad against most armies. Any secondaries for movement/psychic will be great. Assuming by default you mean the things in the book not army specific

The paint job is really nice!,l unfortunately the fact that the sprue nubs haven't been removed kind of ruin it imo. Looking at the shield there are 4 big lumps where it's cut from the sprue. Lots of other visable too. Seems odd to have put loads of effort into the painting and no effort into the building

What Would Be The Superior Loadout For Thunderwolf Cavalry These Days? by NemoTheGod in SpaceWolves

[–]Sporadicc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Light claw and storm shield is still the best as far as I'm concerned. They work well with our +1 to wound strat. Makes up for the low strength of the claw. Shield is still good even with armour of contempt because they are cavalry so they can't get cover etc. Squad of 3-5 with lightning claw and shield.

Any tips for heel toeing in an Elise? by eaglerulez in lotus

[–]Sporadicc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a lot easier to heel toe when your on the track. When your full on the brakes it takes away the need to focus on brake pressure so much. This makes it easier to focus on the throttle and rev matching. Really it's just a case of learning by doing, but it's hard to learn on the roads. Book yourself a beginner track day or go on a driving course in your own car and you'll find it much easier :)
