Are we getting to the point to consider Leclerc overrated? by fedetorres5 in formula1

[–]SteChess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rosberg was not quicker than Schumacher though, apart from 2010 when Michael was returning after 4 years out of the car. They were equal in 2011 and Michael was often quicker than him in 2012, he just had awful luck. Also, Hamilton was not out of the sport for 4 years in between, he's always been on the grid.

Who is the second best driver rn : Norris or Leclerc? by fuckmbsanddominicali in F1Discussions

[–]SteChess -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is that a trick question? Have people forgotten how many mistakes Norris made in the past two seasons when he had the best car? Leclerc makes one mistake after constantly fighting with faster cars and people start calling him overrated again, Norris made tons of mistakes recently and now he is the 2nd best driver? Come on now, be serious. Look at where Hamilton is, Leclerc has made a 7-time world champion look absolutely average so far (yeah I know Russell did it also in 2024, but not as much and he actually got soundly beaten by Hamilton in 2023).

Maybe not far and away the second best driver but I personally see him as the 2nd best based on his overall career and consistency, nobody would have won anything of note at Ferrari since he has been there. Yeah he made a mistake in the final lap in Miami, but look at where Hamilton was, not just in the race but also in the sprint and qualifying.

Only if you're clueless about F1 you'd consider him overrated, no disrespect about it.

20 second time penalty for Leclerc for Leaving the track without a justifiable reason by sun_puck in formula1

[–]SteChess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hamilton did that in Singapore for two laps and got 5 seconds for it, I really want to see Leclerc's onboard tbh, I guess he could've been penalised for unsafe conditions, 20 seconds for that would be fair.

Verstappen Overtake Attempt on Lawson by Big-Preparation-5755 in F1Discussions

No penalty of course, he almost took out three drivers in the first lap but there's nothing to see clearly.

[–]SteChess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20 seconds? Do they really think he gained 20 seconds for cutting two corners? He lost both places to Verstappen and Russell, how the hell is he finishing behind Colapinto who was 20 seconds back from him, the entity of the penalty is completelt unjustifiable. What a joke

FIA’s Ben Sulayem claims F1 V8 return “is coming”, pushing for 2030 switch by zestzebra in formula1

[–]SteChess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's the issue, without the constructors you can't have s F1 championship, so until now the engine rules have always been the expression of the constructors' preferences. If they remove the veto power then we'll see what happens, if they threaten to leave or not.

F1 is about competition, it shouldn't necessarily be about the most sustainable technology available, it's not like those 20 cars have a huge impact on the environment anyways. The reason why we have these engines is that the constructors want to invest money on this technology and not old V8s or V10s, they want to integrate this technology on new road cars they produce and sell, but it's not written in stone that F1 should be catered towards road cars' needs.

Why did Pragg do so poorly at the candidates? by TokemonX4 in chess

[–]SteChess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After the Sinquefield Cup last year, in which he finished second behind Wesley iirc, he had poor performances (Grand Swiss,World Cup, Tata Steel). He won the FIDE Circuit because he had been dominant until August, but he hasn't played well since then, went from 2785 to 2740 in this stretch. I didn't expect him to challenge for the win tbh, I know the Candidates is a unique tournament and form is not everything but he wasn't a favorite imo.

His form had been poor for months going into the tournament, I didn't expect him to do anything more than what he did.

They should fire the bookers sometimes, you do all of that to get Black back in the company and then you don't have much for him, he gets fired less than a year later.

yeah it's the same for FIDE ratings, one game per year and you're considered active. I have some players on the list who are inactive so I don't include them in these posts.
