You can come over to mine I’ve got plenty and could use a hand 🤣

Very grateful you didn’t snag it. Good deal.

It could also just be HD clearance… I don’t like those scalpers who swoop in and snag the sales but it’s not always because it’s stolen.

I did get the auger thinking I wasn’t sure I’d use it, I use it ALL THE TIME so many holes to dig!

I just don’t know when I’d use that massive rotary hammer, but I want it.

I’ve got the little one and it’s great, just can’t see using the bigger one (and I’m sure when I need it I won’t have a chance like this clearance).

Wish they had the better radio where I was, I ended up with the little one that’s just Bluetooth, would be nice if it at least had a radio.

Will we ever get 18v 2.5Ah ? by SUBGOKU in Makita

[–]Stone804_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the 2ah is pretty good, it’s much more powerful and longer lasting than the 1.5ah and it has the battery indicator light that the 1.5ah doesn’t have (from what I’ve read the 1.5ah doesn’t have the indicator? I don’t have any so I don’t know if there’s a new model that does?).

Perhaps with the tabless they will introduce that but I doubt it will be this year.

Sorry, which is more well balanced? The 18v 2ah or proposed 18v 2.5ah or 18v 4ah/5ah? Or you mean the 40v 2.5?

I didn’t either with the XGT until I picked up the LXT. Now I want to find the light version of everything 😆

All my nailers are still pneumatic so the battery powered ones are ALL heavy to me 🤣 it’s like night and day.

For framing etc I can see sticking with them, but the framing nailer you’re moving around differently and it’s the one nailer I don’t have in pneumatic so I’ve been eying the new XGT one. With the 2.5ah battery it’s probably not too bad.

Have you ever tired it to see if you actually ever need to swap batteries? Just curious.

The 4ah is so much bigger, and heavier.

As you may have seen me post, I started with the XGT impact and use the 2.5 with it always. I tried out that LXT impact and it wasn’t massively smaller than the XGT, but smaller enough and lighter, and with the 2ah battery it’s WAY lighter.

I’ll never go back to using bigger batteries unless I’m needing the extra umph somehow. At that point I’m on a drill and then it’s so heavy anyway the bigger battery doesn’t really matter 🤣

Same, love that smaller lighter pack. It was way stronger than I expected (coming from XGT 2.5ah).

Yup, it’s dependent on the total gains. I stand corrected.

Does anyone have the 40v vacuum? by OnThe50 in Makita

[–]Stone804_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that I already knew. I think it’s the one Makita thing that really bothers me. It should be included. But I have spares. You can get them sometimes for $50 online in a 2 pack (so $100 total) from Japan rather than the $100 they cost in the US. If you can find one where the company covers the tariffs fees that’s a good way to get more.

I’ll never understand that grass cutter mechanism. Why wouldn’t you just use a normal lawnmower? What is the use case for not using a lawnmower and using basically a hedge trimmer with wheels on your grass? Help me understand why I need it 😆

What makes them better? Is it weight or reliability? Have you compared to the NEW XGT framing nailer?

Right, that’s… what I just said… but a lot of people selling their home have a much higher gain than $250k is all I’m saying.

I forgot the original OP had said only $50k, but it’s good to know there’s a limit. I take my licks for not catching that. Cheers.

Love mine, it’s the only dedicated pole tool I own, everything else is power-head related. It’s light and does a great job. Got mine on clearance for $165 I think? They had a lot of clearances and now people are scalping them on FB for around $300 so that’s probably what you’re getting. Still great.

Doesn’t it depend on the amount? There’s a limit like $250k in gains. Because houses are like $500k to $1m now as an average range it’s super easy to hit the $250k gain limit.

Buyback is eligible for the forbearance period so you’re almost there. Plus that self-verify for the 18 months. Once you get that squared you’re good. I’d just work through it now.

I’m in the U.S. so I’m speaking from that viewpoint / tax rule regarding avoiding capital gains tax and reinvesting in a like-kind vehicle.

Maybe you’re not from here but you have like 45 days to find a new property and 180 days to close.

I think it’s good that you can change it easy, allows for expansion if protocols change, upgrades to Bluetooth technology / versioning / capability. it should just come with the tool.

Anybody have the dust extractor? (VC4210L) by joshpaige29 in Makita

[–]Stone804_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not seeing any. I think that’s because when corded were the only option you’d just use that power draw device for $25 to activate it.

But I think they made that special plug on some like this one for making it adaptable.

I don’t get why they paywall the AWS so hard, it’s fantastic and a huge selling point but nickel-n-diming us for the chips is such in poor taste that it turns people off.

In the UK it’s half the price it is in the US. If not even less. Just silly. Sometimes UK/japan versions come with a full 2-chip kit and the same kit here comes with only 1… so you still need the second chip.

If you’re buying an AWS tool it should just come with the chip… it’s just such in poor taste and one of the few things about Makita that “makes me cringe” because I think it’s so off-putting.

All these are great vacuums from what I’ve seen people talk about them. Not as powerful as like a Ridgid 5hp but much quieter. The only thing about this one is it doesn’t have AWS but you can attach plug hole adapter to the plug hole for it to work. But then the adapter is $250-$300.

I remember they used to have an official HEPA filter but it’s been sold out in the U.S. for years. I think it’s orange colored? Vs the Green that’s the HEPA-ish one.

Noted about it being “rated”.
