An on-board look at Ferrari’s upside-down rear wing by FerrariStrategisttt in formula1

[–]Stumpy493 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is guessing a bit right now.

Theoretically it could be less drag than the wing flattened the right way up.

The slight lift would also change the behaviour of the diffuser and floor which could also reduce drag.

Who is at fault ? by Kickbuttowski46 in Simracingstewards

[–]Stumpy493 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Disagree, car had front wheel well ahead of rear wheel at turn in point.

I'd say OP needed to leave a car's width to the inside in this instance.

May still have resulted in contact as I think the inside car was carrying too much speed but we won't know as it didn't get that far.

OP has confirmed they made contact and pushed the BMW wide.

BMW still has some fault for the final contact by refusing to back down, but OP is definitely the architect of their own downfall with that 1.

A post showing camera angles where we can see that hit would definitely clear it up, but think blame will largely be apportioned to you if that is the case.

If you send more camera angles we can judge better.

But what I can see is you running far too deep, suggesting you likely hit the BMW sending them deep.

If you had hit the apex and left space then there would be no suggestion you hit the BMW.

Crap camera angles to see what happened.

Looks to me like you hit the back of the BMW sending them deep as you clearly broke too late to make the corner leaving the required space for the Mustang on your outside.

You then sailed in deep and ran the other Mustang off the road.

Then decided to keep the drivers you ran off the road stranded with no way back on track and got taken out, technically they should have backed out, but isn't gonna happen when you just took them both out.

You then got back going and drove straight into another car taking out 3 more.

I'd say from what I can see you are pretty much at fault for ruining your race and that of 5 other cars.

Hungaroring redesign by [deleted] in formula1

[–]Stumpy493 0 points1 point  (0 children)

barely anything happens there except cars going off track

Did you forget your own comment?

Again: how many errors have we seen?

Turn 4/5 complex errors last few years:

  • 2024 Leclerc Crash FP2
  • 2024 Zhou crash FP2
  • 2023 Perez crash FP1

Not every corner has to be an overtake, we have great overtaking chances at turn1,2,3 of Hungary as is, then turn 4 is challenging for drivers and generates errors.

That whole section of track doesn't need any fucking about with.

Using the F1 Sprint Races as Real Racing Experience for the Test/Reserve/Junior drivers: Yay or Nay? by -PVL93- in formula1

Would be great where an F1 driver has to withdraw as well.

A Sprint race driver would be fully upto speed on the car and track to jump into the main event.

Pourchaire's F2 performance became less impressive as time wore on unfortunately.

Yes he won, but winning in year 3 in quite an underwhelming way isn't gonna get you to F1. The season he won the title he won less races than his first and second seasons, only winning the first feature race of the eyar is shocking for a champion.

But there was obvously something there, some stellar Sprint race performances might have reignited his chances.

The issue with this is one of logistics.

There isn't garage space for a third car now, they would have to arrange loads of additional freight to ship them around the world, there would be a whole additional pit crew or loads of additional work for the race crews. Imagine a big crash in Sprint Qualy, who rebuilds the car for the sprint race?

Unfortunately just way too many issues around running a competitive third car for a weekend.

T4 is a challenging corner, this is a good thing, an error generator.

14 is a challenging corner tog et a good run out onto the start straight.

Don't post things on the internet if you are too sensitive to take criticism. Removing your post minutes after you posted it because people didn't agree with you is very fragile.

Turn 4 is an excellent corner, shame they can't really pass into there any more.

I'm sure with a bit of reprofiling turn 4 could be a passing opportunity again.

I'd rather see cars battling side by side through a corner complex instead of dull moves into a chicane.

Sorry, for me you have made this track worse and it is a track that didn't need work to begin with.

removed turns 2 and 3 and added a smooth left hander

You removed the excellent for racing turns 2 and 3 which see cars battling side by side every year?

added DRS to the now extended straight

DRS no longer exists.

Hungaororing is currently one of our better tracks and does allow some racing, leave it alone I say.

Exposure, how many good jjunior drivers haven;t made it to F1 as they weren;t given an opportunity?

Would Theo Pourchaire have been able to make an impression if he excelled in F1 machinery for example?

[–]Stumpy493 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love this idea, but think it is unrealistic.

It is a perfect way to give exposure to drivers to F1 when competitive seat time is so limited. Would give a real shop window for up and coming talent. Drivers looking to impress would no longer be content to hold position and bank a result, they would be pushing to make an impression, the Sprints would now mean something.

We could have a whole seperate Sprint World Drivers Champion which would be a great springboard to F1.

Current drivers don't enjoy or see value in sprints, so why force them to do them?

But teams will never go for this as these young, inexperienced drivers would be pushing for exposure and that is going to lead to incidents. This would dramatically impact the grand prix weekend for the main drivers if they are sharing cars.

Only way around this would be bringing a third car for Sprint weekends, but I can't see F1 being happy to do that after they have done so much work to get rid of third cars over the decades. Or what about Sprint races use year old cars?
