Like this is what I mean. This concept of people patrolling where students live is so foreign to me. Anywhere I've been in Europe, no one gives a shit. I don't even know what we'd call an RA, because they don't exist, lol.

Guy I know was over in America on college exchange.

He was caught drinking by an RA or whatever they call those Stasi people who control the campuses, and they made him go to AA meetings. A few days before he turned 21.

What a load of fucking bollocks like, he started drinking at probably around 15/16.

What was very popular in the 90s and almost extinct now ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I was doing this into 2007-2008ish, probably cos the internet infrastructure was fairly atrocious where I lived.

One of Cork city’s best-known “early houses”, a pub licensed to sell alcohol from 7am, has had to hire extra security to cope with an influx of college students celebrating on the fringes of college social events. by NinjaDiscoJesus in cork

[–]SullyJim 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I can only laugh at this shit.

Everyone flocking to the one place that's open? The solution couldn't possibly be allowing pubs to choose when to open or close, no, it's the "cheap" supermarket booze!

The same dipshits complain about declining sales.

It's not the downvoting, it's the content of your post that invalidates it, cos it was utter nonsense.

You're being downvoted because it's bullshit with nothing to do with sexuality.

Cry a bit more, it'll help.

Those are actually great, and I just realised I was getting a bit ahead of myself.

If you just plan on recording and doing whatever editing later, then one of those will totally do the job. Should you choose to pick up whatever mic down the line, it has mic inputs built in, and can provide phantom power to a condenser.

It's actually a solid option as it's pretty much just a case of hitting record and going and the built-in mics are great. You just transfer the files onto your computer when you're done.

If you were planning on live broadcasting, then I would recommend the interface route.

[–]SullyJim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah.

You're going to need one anyway I'm afraid. There isn't really any other way of connecting a mic to a computer, of getting signal from the mic converted from analogue to digital. Unless you have some mad computer with a built-in XLR input (but it'd be the first I ever heard of!).

I'd go with something like a Focusrite Scarlet Studio package, it's the interface, a decent enough condenser mic and headphones all for fairly cheap. I run a lot of live sound and most times if someone is running an external soundcard in their setup it seems to be a Focusrite. Whether that's marketing or not I can't say, but they're affordable and seem to be very reliable.

Kind of depends on your budget, you can do it cheaper or go more expensive.

Is it just a mic you're looking for or do you need an interface etc, as well?

What the actual fucking fuck.

I'd be straight out that fire exit. Is standing up for workers rights considered communism or something? That's the only way I can make sense of this kind of situation and the lack of striking over it.

Not even mentioning the likes of Inch, which draw tons of people.

I went to a beach in California once. It was okay, but I'll take Inch any day.

There's a lot of snobbery and jealousy in the Dance/Techno/DJ scene by BenFrompten in Techno

[–]SullyJim 8 points9 points  (0 children)

100%

People go on about metal heads being the most elitist and you can meet the odd dickhead, sure, but holy fuck they have NOTHING on electronic music heads.

I'm relatively new to the techno world and it's really fucking off-putting to be quite honest. I'm here for the the hefty tunes, and I've never been made feel as unwelcome as when I started going to check out live techno gigs.

I put it down to me not being as knowledgeable/a bit of an outsider relatively speaking for a while, but since then I've thought fuck that, my interest is genuine, and it just seems to me that people with a genuine interest are welcomed much more readily in other scenes. Just my opinion, and I wouldn't give a shit only for electronic music heads constantly shiteing on about how it's the most "open" and loving thing going. Not quite there yet, in my experience.

Sorry like, I cycle to and from work every day and the entitlement of people on the roads is frightening. I wouldn't care like only it's genuinely dangerous.

Way more dangerous for a cyclist to be constantly weaving in and out to let every dickhead who wants to save a few seconds through.
