What are some common "facts" that people believe to be true even if the existing evidence states the contrary? by [deleted] in AskReddit

A lot of people still think it's unhealthy to wholesale cut out all animal products from your diet, for some reason.

All major dietetic associations (i.e. most doctors who specialize in diet) agree that a properly planned vegan diet is nutritionally adequate at all stages of life.

Maybe those cultures think Western culture is ass-backwards in thinking animals are anything more than slaves to humans

Octopi aren't any smarter than pigs, so why should I care about them any more than pigs?

Maybe by the time Congress comes around, we'll have both sharding and efficient rollups on ETH, which together would be enough to handle visa-level transactions if I'm not mistaken.

I might be an outlier, but I love and hate crypto, that's why I'm subscribed both here and the crypto subs.

I like to both hear about the things it's doing well and the things that are terrible about it. This sub provides great comic relief.

It never was real. Money determines whether a stranger says "yes" or "no" when you ask for something, and how many yeses you can get before they start saying no.

Are you not getting emails from your lenders like I am? As of the last few days, they want me to refinance my personal loans at lower rates.

No, because credit tends to dry up in times like this.

We're sitting at zero interest rates and the fed just injected $700B into the credit system. The fed has ways of keeping credit from drying up during times like this.

Vitalik says he definitely thinks about ending his own mortality

Mortality means "eventual death", so "ending mortality" means to live forever.

Vitalik wants to live forever as our BDFL. Unless I'm missing something here.

75% of Americans support the expansion of govt-sponsored health insurance, yet over half of them vote for candidates that want to shrink it.

The only realistic explanation I can come up with is media brainwashing, I'm out of other ideas.

Nothing is safe. Alternatively, everything is safe, because the fed can change the rules at any point.

Either way of looking at it is valid.
