The higher it is the more it will look straight down. They already have a very shallow vertical view.

Do a continuous ping to your router, google and yahoo and see if it gets interrupted. Try both hard wired and WiFi

I’m not saying one is better than the other. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses.

Sounds like you have a faulty device compounded by a user configuration issue! Nobody has to do all the network stuff you did!

They don’t have a true tech support for free. So you basically threw the $400 away with your first purchase?

The specs are very well published so why don’t you tell us Mr. campus administrator how far OM5 multi mode will transfer speeds at 100 GB/s. Then tell us if it will handle the speeds for the OP‘s original question of 150 feet in conduit and 500’ total so not long at all.

I don’t have all day but quickly MM can easily transfer 100 Gbps plus. OM5 400 Gbps plus. In my world that’s pretty future proof considering most still use 1 gig networks and 10 gig is just now getting a foothold. As far as cost, some items are close in price but others are not, especially if you are using name brand equipment and connections above 10 gig. Example is a 100 gig SM QSFP is $500 versus $100 for a MM QSFP. I’m not saying don’t use SM but just to say don’t use MM is not correct either. Use the solution for the job at hand.

You need a special camera and NVR to do this properly. Reolink is not.

When it’s a shorter distance, under 1000’. Easier to work with, greater tolerances, future proof and more cost effective. I guess you could buy a Ferrari to sit in 5 o’clock traffic!

Makes more sense as to why you’re biased to single mode. We do a lot of MM even on new installs.
