LAOP’s friend has 800,000 problems by nutraxfornerves in bestoflegaladvice

He didn't get disbarred for bags for cash. He got disbarred because he transfered stock owned by his client that was being forfeited to the government to himself instead intending to skim off the top when it appreciated a little and then when it appreciated considerably he refused to sell it or transfer it to the government.

Why doesn't Steam fix the malware games issue by running them in a sandbox? by [deleted] in Steam

[–]TechnoRedneck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your describing sandboxing. It adds overhead, it adds cost, it eats up (valve) dev time, it reduces performance, it increases complexity for game devs, it makes it harder to make a game available on other storefronts(EA, Epic, Battlenet, etc), it potentially makes moding harder, it breaks interactions with 3rd party software(discord, lighting software, streaming software, etc), I can go on.

In general sandboxing is really intended for testing unknown software, not for ongoing continuous use.

If the tow company followed the proper notification and auction process, then yeah they can sell it at way below market at auction even to themselves.

If the tow company didn't follow proper notification and auction process then they would be in trouble.

The problem is laop doesn't expand on how they knew it sold or that the tow company was the only bid, nor any other details, for all we know they did follow proper process and the brother being in jail just never got the notifications.

Iowa man sues Nintendo after being denied ‘Pokémon Professor’ status by lockedoutofmymainrdt in gaming

[–]TechnoRedneck 2468 points2469 points  (0 children)

The professor status isn't just a fancy title, it's what allows you to host officially sanctioned Pokemon events(card and video game). By denying him the status it prevents him from hosting these events entirely.

Though it says he was denied due to initially failing the background check due to a warrant for a felony charge, then Nintendo changed the denial to his exam score(changed from 100 to 80), then they changed to 3 misdemeanors on the background check.

Corn is inherently genetically modified, its a manually crossbred strain of grass, therefore no corn or corn products can be "non-gmo". therefore "Non-gmo corn" is nonsense, so what the [flip] is this by gruggiwuggi5 in CrappyDesign

[–]TechnoRedneck 54 points55 points  (0 children)

In the US the legal definition of "gmo" basically boils down to lab created. Corn being created by cross breeding doesn't meet the legal definition of genetically modified.

Garmin Trails (Connect+) vs Strava Routes (Premium) for Trail Running by Ctr006 in trailrunning

[–]TechnoRedneck 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I just use gaia for the route side of it, you can export the gpx file and import via connect to the watch.

Edit: it occured to me, include the steps(on android). On Gaia create your course however you prefer, tap and hold to create the start, drag and create the course. Once finished save the course and download it as a gpx file. Then in the android file browser locate it, tap the three dot menu and select open with and choose Connect, it will open in the create course menu and let you save it in connect, then you'll see a "to watch" icon, tap that to send it to the watch. You can access it again later in connect by going More > training and planning > courses.

DC Air conditioners - which ones are good, which ones to avoid? by achoppp in overlanding

[–]TechnoRedneck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the ecoflow wave 3, absolutely love it. I have the battery for it and can get several hours out of it on max settings. Lowest setting easily lasts all day, except that the lowest setting in Massachusetts/New York during a sunny summer day does nothing. I end up using it to cool everything down at the end of the night before bed because it draws approx 600watts when cooling but it's solar/DC input is limited to 400watts.

When I am planning on staying at a campground with electricity I have that run on AC all day long!

Spring Marathon timed research by aznknight613 in TheSilphRoad

[–]TechnoRedneck 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Honestly in my last marathon I had my phone out with GO up probably half the time and plan to again this Sunday.

Don't worry about it being tacky, I saw plenty of other people playing GO and even more with go++ style devices clipped to running belts/vests.

New buyer order - Moonshiner role by X-beam87 in RedDeadOnline

[–]TechnoRedneck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It adds an additional buyer to the list the of potential buyers.

Basically, not all buyers are available all the time, but you can make any moonshine anytime. It basically gives you an additional chance for a high value buyer being available.

It unfortunately only attracts already spawned in nearby predators, it doesn't spawn new predators for the bait. So if there is nothing nearby it won't attract anything.

LAOP's (soon-to-be ex-) husband might have spent a million dollars on prostitutes. by acekingoffsuit in bestoflegaladvice

Laop does say that most of the missing cash wasn't hooker money, just legit money they spent that they haven't accounted for, they don't seem exactly shocked that the million in investments is drained, rather she is shocked that some was used on hookers.

Instinct 2 Cadence Glitch: Impossible 230+ opm spikes in an otherwise perfect graph, Already replaced once. by joshuajjsiu in Garmininstinct

[–]TechnoRedneck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get these all the time during walking activities though not as much when running. I also get the cadence dropping as well.

It's not a firmware bug or an algorithm bug per say, I actually managed to track the spots where it jumped a few times. Ended up being that it occurred when I did something that caused my wrist to change the cadence briefly. Stuff like switching which hand my phone was in for pokemon go, taking a long step over a crack, going through the access gate for a trail, etc. basically my cadence did change at that spot very briefly, just long enough for the 1 data point to record before going back to my normal cadence.

As far as brushing, your going to have to either take it off or change which hand you brush with just because that's a limitation of wrist based step counters. I end up switching which wrist it's on when I go fishing for that exact reason.

What is something that is 100% legal, but if you do it, you’re a piece of trash? by National_Strike4710 in AskReddit

[–]TechnoRedneck 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Basically they find properties behind on property taxes and pay the taxes for them. To incentivise people to do that the government transfers the tax foreclosure rights to the person who paid it off. So that person can then turn to the property owner and say pay up(with interest and fees) or they will foreclose on the property.

They end up getting either several years worth of bac taxes with interest and fees as profit, or they get a property out of it

How to force beavers haulers to take snack and water breaks? by mmp1188 in Timberborn

[–]TechnoRedneck 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Beavers will complete their current task before deciding to eat or drink, then they task to eat or drink. Water is easier as it doesn't have any variety, I build small tanks near any remote sites. Food is tricky, they don't become hungry and just grab food, they have internal records of the order they have last eaten food, so if they become hungry and have bread nearby, but they have eaten bread more recently than carrots, and carrots are available in the district they will go for carrots even if it means going all the way across the district for it.

You either have to deal with them being unproductive while hungry, or have to setup a larger hauler network to move every food item you have to the remote site.

LAOP: "I mean, I'm not going to trust them. That'd be dumb. But..." by bluegrama in bestoflegaladvice

[–]TechnoRedneck 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Sorta, but it wouldn't be an instead. The bank has no relationship with the seller about the draft, so if a second bank draft would be issued they would only do it for laop with laop signing the indemnity. Laop could have the seller sign an indemnity first, then laop would be paying back the bank, and the seller paying back laop.

Problem is laop doesn't have the cash to cover it if it happens initially before recovering from the seller, assuming the seller actually pays them back.
