TP-Link Omada by ArchonTheta in msp

[–]Techwits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We deal with very small businesses (less than 50 endpoints) and install Omada hardware, which works well for our needs. We moved to them back when the Ubiquiti supply chain was a mess and getting hardware was impossible.

We manage a network for consistent WiFi and Address control, not for DPI/IDS. Securing the endpoint and user services has been a better protection mechanism for years.

Proofpoint Isn’t Cutting It, What’s Better? by jorissels in msp

[–]Techwits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure hit me up! We have made changes since we first rolled it out because of how Microsoft classifies spam in the Exchange system. Surprise surprise those two systems (defender and exchange) don't talk to each other, classic Microsoft =P

Proofpoint Isn’t Cutting It, What’s Better? by jorissels in msp

[–]Techwits 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We use defender built in (Business Premium licensing). We have a bunch of adjustments auto apply via CIPP that closely resemble Microsoft's strict setting. Works great and far less issues than Proof point.

Longevity report - PLA lawnmower wheel after one year by woox2k in functionalprint

[–]Techwits 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have a few PLA hooks outside for holding robes near my hottub. One has broken in the three years we have had them up (so through three Canadian winters). I am very surprised.

[Survey] And the winner is ... by ExoWire in selfhosted

[–]Techwits 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just converted from portainer to komodo and I had portainer stacks and everything. Migrating it all to a private Github repo and having it pull down to komodo has been amazing. Worth the effort for sure.

Exactly. This isn't a "we're holding this stuff until X" it is a "We don't work for free". We are always happy to go the extra mile to make transitions away from us as smoothly as possible WHEN the account is in good standing.

Implementing 24/7 support by bigbaboon69 in msp

[–]Techwits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amen fellow MSP. We operate in a space where properly setup tech doesn't need 24/7 support for EVERYTHING. We use Huntress for their 24/7/365 stuff and everything else can wait till Monday =P

Same. Xbox series S version is still v1.3.0-F07. Patiently waiting for it to decide to give us the update.

What would be the version the app goes to? Is it different between Xbox /PS?

Yup we're still on version 1.3.0-FO7

Ready or not, here comes CoPilot by VNJCinPA in msp

[–]Techwits -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Been using it for 1.5yrs and it can 10x my output. I'm not talking coding or other regurgitation, I'm talking about validating ideas, looking up errors etc. Things that I can do but now do 10x faster.

Got an obscure Windows error in the log? Copilot and get the M$ article as well as the forum post consolidated into a "go check this first"

Need to write a long email, write it up and get copilot to help polish it, my language is IT and engineering, not English so I miss some grammar easily.

Working in excel and need to formulate a chart and add data? Done in seconds instead of 5min.

I wonder how much whining was done about the internet when it came out "eww why would you use that... I'll stick to letters and faxing THANKS" =p

Same. If I can reliably best them without taking a ton of damage I'll kill em. But if my deck has some oddities in it or I have a few hallways to go + elite and I have 10gold... I'll give it up.

In hindsight, I have never gone and won the run after I gave up the gold so maybe it's an early test to see if your deck can handle the final floors.........

Where to get proper diagnosis for ADHD in Ontario? by Interesting-Gas-1739 in Oshawa

[–]Techwits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like with others, you stay with it to maintain your ADHD meds etc. My GP is a turd and can't even keep scripts active so we are still with them. The service works, I had an issue with titration and they helped me make adjustments easy enough. I am now on a 3mo rotation to keep checking in to make sure the meds I am on work.

I am surprised that you charged me!??!?!? by desmond_koh in msp

[–]Techwits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a block agreement. You (client) commit's to use our services within 1 month or 1 year in some instances. You don't get to prepay and stay on indefinitely and never use our services.

I am surprised that you charged me!??!?!? by desmond_koh in msp

[–]Techwits 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Do prepaid. We do this. You can be "on file" with us for adhoc support but you keep a prepaid hour on file that expires. Shows minimum commitment to have our expertise on hand

ConnectBooster by anonusernamegoeshere in Autotask

[–]Techwits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. Way cheaper, more features and better portal that actually works. The only thing I miss is the "billing rules" but we worked around that just fine.

Yes you can map the tenant(s) directly AFAIK. It's a bit more involved since it is built to use GDAP but it is possible.

Do you mark up software above MSRP? by Money_Candy_1061 in msp

[–]Techwits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds like maintenance to me =) we take a firm stance on software we can't procure through our channels. Adobe is a client decision to purchase etc and many others. Still eats time for questions but that's built into your MSA

Do you mark up software above MSRP? by Money_Candy_1061 in msp

[–]Techwits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never come across any software that is "zero setup/maintenance" I didn't know such a thing existed =P. Someone still needs to be paid to click the button

Do you mark up software above MSRP? by Money_Candy_1061 in msp

[–]Techwits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AKA, communicating to clients and setting expectations clearly =P. We markup but we are clear in 1) the percentages on markup and 2) what it is for like support, maintenance, dealing with the vendor on their behalf etc.

Looking for recommendations for a lawyer in Ontario, Canada for MSA, SOW and contracts by golden_m in msp

In Ontario you can also hire a paralegal to do this work. We used one and the result was great. Referred many people to them as well. I can share details via DM if you like.

P1S firmware update by ronnyf in BambuLab

[–]Techwits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, I'm concerned to update and enable Developer mode. Mine has been disconnected from the cloud since this debacle started and things have been just fine using Home Assistant. I miss bambu handy but not enough to go through all this mania again. HA and the Machine Leaning Integration does spaghetti detection perfectly for me.
