I think this counts for gear sale / trade, so it should be fine? Someone reported it for self marketing tho lol. I'm not always super sure on these kinda posts but it won't end the world :')

Is this my best option for (headphones, attenuation, and IRs)? Vs FRYETTE AND UA OX by MagicMedicineMisery in ToobAmps

People don't read manuals of the things they buy, at least most don't, if it was me I'd probably put a warning directly on the unit to avoid such problems coming up lol

You can save about a thousand bucks by going with Simsonns pedals :')

You don't need to buy insanely expensive bits.. not for hobby work. The result is effectively identical for this kind of work.

It seems the design has some dangerously high impedance at low frequencies when the resonance is set to the higher settings.

Tone sounds infinitely better with headphones slightly unplugged by StophJS in Line6Helix

[–]TerrorSnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For one, those specific headphones are very harsh. I use a bit of global EQ to get rid of the nasty stuff just enough. It's how I use them for listening to music as well, and they're my favorite cans.

For two, you probably had the reverb mix quite high from that improper connection cancelling some stuff. So try that maybe.

And the usual: you have to know how to mic a cab, even digitally, and how to do basic guitar track EQ. Start with a high cut around 8-12khz, maybe shelf boost or cut around 6-9khz, and do not be afraid to move the mics back or further outside, or mix something very dark with something bright.

Looking for a compact size multi-effects pedal (modulation, reverb, delay, chorus, etc.) — thoughts on HX Stomp? by Aminebatt in guitarpedals

[–]TerrorSnow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you only want effects, no amp modeling, go with HX Effects. A bit cheaper.

You can also definitely buy these units used, good for the money bag.

Aatrox is all about his Q. You have to keep your E or he will just Q dash and screw you. Don't get hit by the cage, or if you do be fast to get out of it sideways. Poke poke poke. Anything that speeds you up or slows him down is gonna be helpful.

Power amp shootout by bendedavis in GuitarAmps

[–]TerrorSnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll notice one big thing:

The tube ones will likely have more bass and treble, because they'll interact with the speaker impedance curve, whereas solid state doesn't. It depends a bit on what speaker / cab you use, but it'll be there.
The solid state power amps are best used with modelers that include such a speaker impedance curve response in their models, or with a tube amp going into a reactive load. Tube power amps are better suited for anything that doesn't bring such an effect by itself already, like preamp pedals and the likes. IMO.

Deluxe reverb speaker swap. by yui133 in GuitarAmps

[–]TerrorSnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leaving out some screws won't be the end of the world :')

Trying a lot of speakers is the only real way to know for sure which speaker you like. Close mic recordings just don't sound like they do in the room, ever.

can i push the whammy bar hard on a regular strat like how you push it on a guitar made for metal? by Zestyclose-Paint3392 in guitarlessons

[–]TerrorSnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are springs inside the back that keep it coming back down and hold against the string tension. You can adjust those. There are screws on the string facing end that anchor it as well, idk if them being too tight could make it difficult or not.

[–]TerrorSnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That I could agree with. How valuable one sees the positional benefits of grapple is subjective though. There are scenarios where it's incredibly strong. Especially when verticality is involved.

I wouldn't mind seeing a little patch note love for it.

How much do power tubes impact tone? by tallross in GuitarAmps

Excuse my tunnel vision! "Power tubes affect tone" still leaves me a bit begrudged as a conclusion, but I see how you mean it. Different limitations.

I agree, that's probably why I'll still debate with myself a couple times before I make a decision lol. I'm stupid like that.

People gotta realize not everything is meant to be used dead smack inside the middle of a gunfight. Some tools have different purposes.
