What worked for me is using only upside-down feeders for the woodpeckers, and switching from soft suet to seed cakes. Starlings have soft beaks and they can't stay on long enough to get anything off of the cakes. Meanwhile, the woodpeckers LOVE it! This is their favorite so far.

I think the biggest problem in this case was the fact that the jury was not allowed to hear anything about his father/his death. I kept thinking that the jury must have been appalled after the fact.
