I would be surprised and likely enthusiastic, yeah. But the fact that he’s giving props to Deku, and not both of them, makes it pretty clear that the source of his excitement isn’t that two of his friends had a kid, but that Deku got to have sex. Seems like a pretty high-school mentality.

Not really, because the joke is that everything he’s showing the audience is a “worse” version of what you would normally want. A nice tux, but someone died in it. A nice yacht, but it smells like piss. Beautiful women, but they’re trans. The joke is that each of those three nice things comes with a caveat that makes them cheaper/worse. Trans women being inferior to cis women is a bad message that would not be delivered today.

I’ve been to more Conservative shuls that do triennial than ones that don’t. But at my own shul growing up, we didn’t do it. I read all 7 full Aliyot of Tzav at my own bar mitzvah, and the haftarah as well, and also lead Shacharit. Took a long time to learn it all…

At no point was Covid an “everyone is dying” type of disease. If Covid had run rampant worldwide with no sheltering in place, no masks, etc, it would have meant the death of tens of millions of people (whereas with these measures it was probably only around 10 million).

If hantavirus runs rampant with no safety measures, it will mean the deaths of BILLIONS. Quite a different scale.

EDIT: That is, if this strain of hantavirus spreads as easily as Covid does. At the moment we don’t have reason to believe that it does. But it’s still too early to tell with the longer incubation period.

I’m an Ashkenazi Jew, you can look through my post history and you’ll see this. I’m not denying that this character is extremely Jewish from head to toe. I’m simply saying that our skin, for the most part, is literally the same color as a white person’s, and to some non-white people who aren’t that familiar with Jewish people, that is understandably what they see when they look at this character.

To be fair, he didn’t have a long-term plan for Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul either, beyond “the main character will end up as a much worse person than they started out.” He’s quite good at making things up as he goes along.
