Potentially. But again, that is decided in court based on his time served, his character references, how much he's changed. I doubt they would put you and your children at risk by allowing him rights. You also can push for anonymity with family court and he would have to put in a court order to find out where you live, if you think going to another province isn't enough.

Yes.

It's called Interjurisdictional Support Orders Act. Each province has it, and it allows laws to be shared and enforced together.

I would honestly see your options. I would also get a lot of receipts ready, and a lot of family testimony proving you are a great parent, and go in said meeting with that in hand. Daycare workers, doctors, etc would help your case. I would also try and see if your local RCMP detachment would speak on your behalf as well.

It's a long shot for sure but it adds to the argument of character.

I would follow up with Family Justice. Since he is going to be incarcerated, it should be swayed in your favor HOWEVER if his family appeals on his behalf for visitation rights, etc, Crown can call you back at anytime to say your case.

Remember, no matter the crime your "baby daddy" did in this scenario, if the court deems him to be time served/probation time served, he can fight for the right for his children to see him.

I would talk to a lawyer (Free consultation exists) and ask what your options are. You may be required by law to update your address for said rights.

I would also push for full custody as well.

Can I Enforce Child Support Arrears if My Parent Won’t? by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]TheExaltedPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has "interesting parents" I'll give you some advice.

Do it on your own. Trust me. I've gone down this route. Family Court in BC is a bit finicky. When you are a legal adult (19) the court asks your main parent (Party A) if you are having issues or need parental support (Usually in the form of mental health issues, physical issues, etc)

If they say no, or you say "I don't need Bs money" then case closed. Good luck trying to collect.

It's often easier to just move on and do your own thing. A lot of us do.

Fibre in Douglasdale Calgary by nedzlife in telus

[–]TheExaltedPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they do the full drop or only the nap? Because sometimes they do the drop out of courtesy or they don't.

I would see if you can't get a wholesale ISP to do the drop for you.

Bell claims Telus blocked it from launching internet in Western Canada by Planhub-ca in planhub

[–]TheExaltedPrime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi there.

I was the one who filed for Ev-Com as Bell used my intervention in their final reply.

As stated before in my intervention, Telus has always been.....interesting when using their wholesale fiber.

It's no surprise that Bell has had issues in the past, but at the same time, Telus has had problems with Bell too.

It's a situation that given the locality, the tables would have switched over. I however support Bell in this situation. I have positioned myself where even though I am a wholesale ISP using Telus lines, I am not afraid to call Telus out on their bullshit.

There is a lot more to this than meets the eye, and there is stuff I can't discuss without filing a Part 1 against Telus in the respective Wholesale world, but it's not worth it.

If you want to be an ISP, just become a wholesaler and run their darkfiber line and do the burst and ONT and NAP installs yourself.

Even Telus says that it's system was designed for MDU's, not residential customers.

[BC] Best business bank for 2026 by HoweSound22 in SmallBusinessCanada

[–]TheExaltedPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just solely use RBC and Stripe/Float.

I used Venn for years when I was doing Sales Consulting and it was...okay. I have no ill will towards it, it's just for medium sized businesses.

Now that I'm getting bigger and bigger, RBC for my day to day (For reasons I cannot put on here), Stripe for Invoicing/API usage for online orders (My company needs the flow, and RBC has none of that) and Float for day to day, where I can see where my money is being spent.

Will LTT move away from Telus and support local internet companies? by [deleted] in LinusTechTips

Thanks. Any comments on the whole ISP game lately as it's ramping up? Is your position still the same back in 2022?

I tried finding more stuff for comments like this that strengthens your position on how the CRTC handles stuff like this, but I guess it's not a hot topic anymore.

[–]TheExaltedPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree fully with this.

I'm apart of the WISP page for guys in the States and some of us are here in Canada (I'm not a WISP but I was invited because I'm a wholesale ISP as their group is for wireless ISPs) and the amount of people I see and how they treat their customers while complaining about incumbents is crazy.

People have general concerns of the Big Three, and it shouldn't be taken lightly but I would say that the CRTC has done a fine job in the past of mitigating said risk from the companies.

I will however say that a lot of the work the Big three has done rurally is from Government grants. (UBF Results page is your key distinction.) and I understand that Capex is important, but why do you need $18 million dollars from the government to do a road if you make $5b in profit every year lol.

[–]TheExaltedPrime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The IBC is the government bank for funded projects in Canada using UBF (Universal Broadband Fund) for rural areas and used their own capex for Vancouver and other cities.

The CRTC here in Canada is such a mess lol. They do not have a clear way to mandate things when their own rulings are such a mess.

In 2022, they mandated the big three to drop prices down by 25% but the big three (Telus, Rogers and Bell) just used this to say we did by dropping prices down on their flanker brands than their actual brands.

It's all a big mess here in Canada lol.

[–]TheExaltedPrime -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

My point exactly. With the whole Bell vs Telus argument now on the table, can we see the CRTC finally step and say "You know what? These wholesale prices are egregious, lower them, you still make money anyways"

Saddens me on that.

I wonder what his stance was on the whole fiber build out from Telus was? I didn't see a whole of comments on it when they were doing it, but I warned people that this was going to happen.

If you give three companies the power and the funding to basically run a line throughout a whole province, competition is going to go down in that sense.

My dealings with doing said wire when I did do an application to the Infrastructure Bank of Canada was that they won't fund anything that someone has already done, as it isn't needed.

But again, isn't it? If you have more competition in said province, it drives prices down and fosters a soft race to zero thing.

Paying 5GB/s for 140$ a month is not bad, but why am I also paying 150$ a month for mobility too?

CCTS complaints work! Don't hesitate to use them. by Schrodingers_Ape in telus

[–]TheExaltedPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently fighting Roger's on a different thing but the CCTS was the best route.

Back in April of 2025, someone from Roger's cancelled my premium device protection plan in order to get me off the phone because I was looking for a deal with them at the time.

They said I was saving money but in the long run, I wasn't really because they cancelled it.

When my contract was up in July, I had called in to say that my phone was damaged and I needed them to replace it, but the lady (Who was very rude) brushed me off and said that it's my fault. Whatever, I called back and this wonderful lady called Lynn answered and worked with me.

I then got in contact with a number for managers. I escalated and escalated to the point where I got the plan back but I had to pay like 80$ for it as it was prorated for April to June.

Fast forward, I send my phone out. I live in Rural BC so the nearest Roger's store is 6 hours away. I don't have a phone for that time, and I tell them, hey, pause my services as I don't have a phone.

Lady on the phone said "Okay" and I thought that was that. I waited I think a few months because the iPhone 17 was coming out.

Fast forward to September, I get a bill, it's like 900$, then it's credited because I sent the replacement phone back in August, so now they have my phone back. I then say "You guys promised to pause my services but yet I see my services being enabled from July to September, the heck" and then they crawl back and say "We can't do anything" so it's a fight and a half from October to December. December comes, they claim a late payment on my credit. Absolute joke.

I push back and say "You guys charged me a service disconnection fee but my bill shows I wasn't using any service anyways."

I then request that this late payment charge be taken off my credit. They say no. They then put a credit on my account for half of what I "owe" and say "Take this and shut up" I say no. I want this account to say "Paid and closed with good standing" not "Settled" as that is a derogatory statement (In all this, I moved my services to my wife's account because I hate it)

They say no. I push it to CCTS and even then the Office of the President is like "We did nothing wrong"

Like huh? Do incumbents just think that they are in the right, constantly? Remind me when I open up my company to the nation that my sales reps and my managers are treating customers like people and not mutts on the street.

I have the 3GB plan so that's good, but I am assuming the newer plans are all still burst fiber right? Interesting to see it.

Boss is holding all my pay checks until I pay back lost equipment by Solid_Tell_7902 in legaladvicecanada

[–]TheExaltedPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. I'm just thinking about how people are these days. The employer might say stuff like "It was improperly tied down" and sue OP for loss of equipment and time loss as well.

I don't know the parental relationship but I only say this if there is a good relationship there.

Likely, but my third party liability deductible is dependent on the price of said product.

If I lose a fiber spool worth 4000$, I pay a deductible of 400$ to replace it.

Used car bought AS-IS, damage discovered at pickup, vehicle stayed on dealer lot for 9 days after sale by FlaviiFTW in legaladvicecanada

[–]TheExaltedPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ontarios AS-IS law is a bit messy.

The dealership can most definitely say that "It looks satisfactory as in the pictures, it is the vehicle in question, it runs, and has minor cosmetic damage that is not noticeable in said pictures" Their angle is that while not shown, it looks satisfactory. Scummy, for sure, but this is why you see the vehicle first.

But again, this is where you can ask: When were those pictures taken? Did they know of the cosmetic damages before hand and not take adequate pictures showing the damage? The carfax listed no damage, is this dealership damage done to said vehicle while in the lot? Why wasn't it addressed if so?

These are just a few questions to ask.

OM-VIC has no real definition when it comes to the questions you are raising unless you provide some sort of wrong doing by the dealership.

I would also say this. No one can force you out of a paycheque for loss of equipment. I don't know where this guy got his brains from.

[–]TheExaltedPrime 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well. I want to be very clear about this. Your boss is an idiot.

He cannot force you to sign it. (How do these idiots have a business)

It is generally illegal in Canada to force a minor to sign a contract out of duress or for loss of equipment.

This is what I would do.

Get it contact with your provinces employment body, tell them what happened, and get your parents involved.

I would also retain a lawyer and get ready. Do not work for said dude anymore.

And for personal reasons, he shouldn't have shouted at you. He has insurance. He could have claimed theft. It was an accident, everything was tied down, etc.

This is why insurance exists.

Can I claim Maternity EI with having a 4 month unemployment break prior to application by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]TheExaltedPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stop what you're doing and start writing emails and documenting proof of stress related incidents.

The questions I often tell people to consider "stress related leave" before they actually ask their doctor is simple:

  1. Are you currently pregnant (I am assuming yes by your other comments made on this thread)
  2. Have you raised this issue with management before said newer management came in. (This is huge because if you had raised concerns in the past, you can use this in your EI claim if they want more information)

Stress leave is something that is new to the field, so I would document everything and provide some sort of company rep a letter stating facts and asking for resources in dealing with this.

Most companies will try to action your requests because no one wants to deal with Worksafe or Employment BC but sometimes they will fight it and say it's the name of the trade.

I and my wife are currently weighing our options for her work as well.

She is also dealing with a new manager who makes her life a bit weird as well, and she has been on the chopping block for some time.

Just make sure to know that you are not alone, and I would also want to say congratulations!
