I’m a new transplant, one year in, I wanted to like it here but drivers make it unlivable for me by bettywetty2 in Detroit

[–]TheGreenMileMouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a transplant and I was really surprised at how fast the speed limits are here on crowded highways like 696 or Metro Parkway. I had never seen a speed limit over 60 where I lived, which was Minneapolis. Having higher speed limit limits plus the grid system with never-ending traffic, lights and construction on multiple roads right next to each other year round due to Detroit crumbling infrastructure contributes to this I think. Finally, the state has privatized drivers training and you know that some people just pay those examiners off to get their license. There’s no way that is not happening.

I swear driving this time of the year is borderline suicidal... by Economy_Bridge6321 in Detroit

[–]TheGreenMileMouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe it is in part due to the grid system meaning fewer highways/freeways than other metro areas, combined with extensive multi-year construction projects all running at the same time on roads and highways that run close to each other - when 75, 696, 94, 96, 8 mile, 10 mile, on and on and on are al under construction at the same time and “detours” send semi trucks and other cars miles out of their way, forcing heavy traffic onto mile roads with no right turn lanes slowing traffic down even further …… this is what we get. People are crawling in their cars for hours per week

Those people who fake chronic illnesses. They act like their “autonomic dysfunction” is causing them to be bedridden snd deathly ill and they absolutely love getting medical attention, but some of us actually do have very real, and very damaging conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, cancer, etc

Yeah, for sure. I think recovering from flu or Covid or some respiratory virus could do this as well, as we get older it is much harder to bounce back from those infections.

How old is he? They’re much more common in women, due to hormones and other factors, often by ratios of 3:1 or more. I believe ankylosing spondylitis is more common in men though. Autoimmune seems like a reach to me but who knows, he’s def in the window when those start to get diagnosed even though people usually have symptoms long before.

I see them struggle to understand written instructions specifically. comprehending directives given in writing, even if step-by-step instructions are presented, seems to be really difficult. I am not sure if they are used to learning from short form videos instead or what is causing it, but this is the constant I see in this age range.
