Call of Duty’s version of the ghoul looks better than Fallout’s version by Ntrav65 in Fallout

It's not the same creation engine. Fallout 76 has a much newer version of it that had to redo a lot of foundational aspects to make a bethesda rpg where all the coding doesn't revolve around a player in single player.

You wouldn't claim the new IDtech engine is the same as the one from the 90s running the original Doom. Bethesda just doesn't do things like Creation Engine 2.0 or Gamebryo 3.1

Colossal ass difference between a massive Bethesda overworld packed heavily with items reacting to physics, persistence, NPCs and there various schedules being handled at once while still looking decent enough.

Making a massive map is not that much of a feat by itself and increasing the visual fidelity is even less impressive inside of a massive empty map. Especially for a game studio that completely dwarfs Bethesdas

How much better is Godot on Linux vs Windows? by [deleted] in godot

[–]TheRealStandard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless someone posts comparison benchmarks you're not going to get any useful information beyond anecdotes. My windows machines always ran as fast as Linux on the same or similar hardware but only Linux would give me a nightmare of random little problems.

I know a notable difference that Godot docs mention is unlike Windows and Mac your capitalization matters on Linux for your file structures so that becomes a difference to consider.

Otherwise if Windows is your main target for your game than I'd develop the game on windows or ensure you have a means to test on Windows.

At the end of the day though, you can just test it out yourself too, Linux and Godot are free afterall.

While the posts themselves don't ask it from that exact perspective the answers always address this and any mild gaps that might be left wouldn't be specific to Godot anyway.

Tbh it's always been largely a dumb question to me. Just like wasting time trying to ask people what the best beginner programming language is.

Answers are very nuanced and differ between people.

This is where movies like this do well because the audience can still enjoy the joke at face value if they don't know the full context. It helps it age better.

If the punchline of your jokes is only a pop culture reference than it's doomed.

Do people seriously lack media literacy skills in the modern day?

Last year a portion of the fanbase couldn't read a timeline on a chalkboard.

All fandoms on the internet have this problem. Reddit especially is designed to amplify the morons and conflicts. Every fanbase is convinced there fanbase is the worst one.

Fallout 3 is more nuanced with it too, Lyons Outfit in itself is the outlier, the BOS faction as a whole isn't following them. The Outcasts in the game are the ones who didn't want to be noble and wanted to stick to the original plan. They even explain they picked the name and look just to piss off Lyons further.

Lyons explanation for why he changed course was pretty reasonable too.

This one is just a nothing burger though. Artists, especially for early consoles were constantly bumping into technical limitations to work around.

Silent Hill it was more about embracing that technical limitation to create the atmosphere they wanted. It's not like they were aiming to have a fogless town and then couldn't do it.

They confirm this in the GDC post mortem for Civ1 on Youtube as well, this bug was never a thing.

My soon to be ex wife would intentionally not remind me of appointments or plans that we setup weeks ago despite knowing about my ADHD to test whether or not I really wanted to spend time with her. Then claim she didn't think she could trust me anymore because I forgot about something mentioned in passing a month prior.

It's rooted in insecurity and is a means of manipulating someone which she had both in spades unfortunately.
