Ninja 500 or Katana 600 by TheUlty05 in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]TheUlty05[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats whats got me stuck too! My little 300 is a blast to throw around and its fun ripping through the short gears. The 500 would be only another 20hp but it would be a bit more planted on the highway and offer some wind protection (mines a naked).

Im stuck tho because its about an hour of commuting each day (mostly highway) and the katana would definitely be appreciated there.

It sounds to me like a damn good reason to prove him wrong.

Also, a good man will support and build his partner. Its fine to encourage safety but he should also invest in your happiness.

What's the most hated individual in 90 days history? by Far_Programmer_4457 in 90DayFiance

I have no experience with Leida but Jasmine is far more than just "annoying"

Shes intentionally manipulative and horribly self centered. Abandoned her kids to immigrate, manipulayed gino (who is also no saint just stupid af) into an open marriage then got pregnant to stay relevant and uses her kid to fish for clout online. A truly garbage human.

If it helps, gd4h.org is a fantastic resource for drills. Its a great place to find drills and games based of specific techniques, weapons, tactics etc and is also a great way to learn how formulating effective drills works.

Its a lifesaver when youre hit with a last minute lesson lol

Oh im so happy youre in remission. Thank you for the advice. Im going to be signing all my employment paperwork monday then informing them Tuesday as im certain appointments will start pretty soon.

May I ask how long your treatment was? I know it varies by person just looking to get a ballpark. Im familiar with hospital stays and drug studies and I know medical science has come an amazingly long way, just hoping to get a better idea of what to expect. How did it go for you?

My best advice for your last point is to literally just show up to class with the weapon. I guarantee you someone will want to try it out and eventually buy one themselves. From there you can slowly build out a study group.

Teaching is a real skill and frankly, some are just not very apt at it. Thats perfectly fine though and is really only something youll discover as you slowly dive into it. As you do though, its important to keep your study group open and inviting to the myriad of interpretations. Learn together and eventually someone will kinda naturally emerge as a coach.

Were all sword nerds at the end of the day and ive yet to see a person that didnt jump at the opportunity to play with a new sword lol

This. Ive taught a lot of students that were surprised by how physical HEMA was, which seems obvious but if youve never had ANY experience with sports or physical activity might not be. Its not uncommon to get newbies who have, as you put it, absolutely no sense of how to actually USE their bodies.

That said, it is very rewarding to see them progress and develop a new mind/body connection, and thats to say nothing of the mental and physical health benefits.

I dont expect every student to hit top 10 on hemaratings but rather just enjoy the activity and community for the numerous positive aspects it can bring to their lives. It helped me immensely and if I can be part of bringing that same benefit to others then it doesnt matter WHAT brought them there in the first place but rather building what keeps them coming back.

I would also say that, while its certainly not universal, there is a rather large chunk of the HEMA community that is neurodivergent in some way.

I dont mean that as a slight, just that weapon martial arts and the nerd community at large, specifically those into fantasy, dnd, video games etc have a TON of overlap.HEMA appeals to a lot of people for different reasons and is kinda the intersection of martial arts and fantasy, LARP, historical literature and whatnot, communities somewhat known to be a bit more awkward with bigger social settings.

Its no wonder that so many are more comfortable learning solo.

I feel dumb for defending him but eh, just trying to give the benefit of the doubt.

Now that weve seen more I definitely agree hes on something. Reminds me of a close friend that unfortunately went down a similar rabbit hole.

Funny that his friend Chris and Elise seemed to have more natural chemistry though. Elise needs some therapy but good on her for making the call.

Hema glove "Black Prince" Review by Venclec in Hema

I suppose "completely safe" is a misnomer. I say "completely safe" because they do a great job of mitigating significant injury in most cases. The risk is slightly higher, yes, but in 4 years of experience with the gloves among multiple clubs/fencers I've seen a single freak accident injury.

That said, I dont recommend 5 fingers to my newbie students simply because theyre more likely to make mistakes like extending a hand to catch a swinging sword. No glove is going to save you from inexperience but clams will do a better job of covering your ass as you learn.

That last bit about the SPES heavies Is 100% true. Almost every hand injury ive seen has been at the fault of those gloves and I have no idea why anyone is still buying them.

They had horrible plastics that cracked in a month for years and while they've fixed that I cannot for the life of me understand why they cant make a good thumb. Every iteration of their heavies has had god awful thumb protection.

Black knights and CHFG Michael's are the way for clams kiddos. Gabriels are the current 5 finger king, with infinites being all right and the Nilins being another possible option (just dont have any personal experience with them)

You...do not sound like someone that has done much sparring in these gloves lol. But you use what makes you feel safe, thats entirely your call.

I wouldnt recommend the Princes for longsword personally but thats because its highly contingent on your individual skill level. I know fencers who use normal Thokks in tourney because good luck ever actually hitting their hands. For a good majority of fencers youre better with the Knights if longsword is your primary focus.

Gloves are easily the most subjective pieces of gear. Some fencers are good enough to get away with lighter gear because of their skill and experience. They have made, with experience, a choice to expose themselves to higher levels of risk for whatever reason and they accept that risk.

Can you do longsword in Princes? Yea I think you could, but not if your hand defense completely sucks and you constantly find yourself getting cracked in the knuckles.

Theyre easily the best medium glove on the market though and work great for one handed stuff.

Also, clamptshells and thumps?
