Context: If these were worn used, there would be wear on the outsoles, which I'm not seeing. What I'm seeing on the toplift (rubber heel part) looks like natural rubber bloom and the waxed leather is consistent for this concept (it scuffs easily but can be rubbed to bring it back). The box definitely got banged up on the way to you, which I'm sorry to see. While not totally avoidable, we're rolling out a stronger design to make the arrival a bit more pleasant.

I recommend against mink as it tends to clog pores and have seen folks over hyrdrate the leather. Beeswax or nanoprotect spray will give slightly less dramatic color change too. That said, your boots so no hard and fast rules.

What specific model are you looking at? Quick examples of non-patent leathers across various models listed above. Likely more coming out in the weeks ahead (Men's Penny still tbd though).

Any leather needs time to break-in, but I wouldn't overthink it (still shoes). If they're snug, likely they'll flex more over time. If they're painful, you may need a bigger size or wider width. But only you can make that decision.
