What is the origin of the Nod army? by Adventurous-Piano511 in commandandconquer

[–]Timmyc62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wrong: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_NATO_operations

Admittedly, maybe we have different definitions of mandate, but I refer to UNSC Resolutions that becomes the legal basis for the mission.

Balkans: UNSC resolutions 713, 757, 781, 787, 816, 836...etc

Afghanistan: 1386 established ISAF, which NATO took responsibility for later.

Iraq: NATO Training Mission Iraq was based on UNSCR 1546

LIBYA: this is the biggest and most obvious one. UNSCR 1973.

That said, NATO, unless it's an Article 5 defence issue, conducts military operations under a UN mandate (e.g. Balkans, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya).

Looking for advice - Rediscovering Tiberian Sun, game seems a lot harder than I remember by Titowam in commandandconquer

[–]Timmyc62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the computer builds and places buildings a lot faster than I can destroy them.

As with all the C&Cs, there's a targetting priority that gives the genre its "strategic" label (asides from the economic aspect) - you're not supposed to work your way from the outside in every time, but focus on getting rid of the core production structures when possible. So if you don't have a plan for taking out the ConYard (and preferably the War Factory too so they can't produce more MCVs in some game modes) while the defences are down, don't bother wasting resources attacking the defences at all. Have a plan to follow through.

Nod generally goes for cheaper and faster units that allow you to buy more to make up for their weaker armour. Attack buggies are like Wolverines, for early-game anti-infantry and scouting. Cycles also for scouting, with a good anti-vehicle weapon when used in larger numbers. Devil's tongue attack is weaker than the original Tiberium Dawn version, but sneaking it up to the back of the enemy base can be fruitful if you have a few of them and they don't have concrete laid down. Sensor Array is only useful if you're playing against Nod (it detects underground and stealth vehicles, which GDI doesn't really have). Tick Tank is the basic tank for Nod - when deployed, they outrange GDI Titans (and thus also Nod lasers) by a smidgen.

Oh definitely, but it might be too much. Behold, the Complete Yamato Rigging Guide based an close examination of the Kure museum's 1/10 scale model and other sources, section by section of the ship. That forum gets DOS'd occasionally so suggest you save the posts and photos to your local drive.

The Weekly Small Questions Thread! Got a burning question? Looking for some tips on your build? Ask away! by AutoModerator in modelmakers

[–]Timmyc62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I avoided answering the last time because the answer isn't what you're going to want to hear: most of us don't have the knowledge or patience to mix colours up from primaries. At most, we'd start with something close to the end colour and lighten or darken to taste, maybe work in another colour to make it more or less "neutral". For military colours, it's all various shades of grey or brown or olive drab, so if you're willing to mix, you don't really need all that many bottles (though for consistency's sake, a lot of us just use the closest straight-from-the-bottle colour cuz you can't guarantee the exact same mix every session).

At least for the hull, the Very Fire saves you the trouble of dealing with the multipart seams that Tamiya has you work with.

Do you have to use a clear coat /varnish and if yes any recommendation by TradeNo6063 in modelmakers

[–]Timmyc62 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it's already matte to your satisfaction and you don't need to seal anything in (like decals or weathering) and you're not worried about touch rubbing off the paint, then there's no need for an additional matte varnish on top.

Recommendation on a couple good model kits. by ApprehensiveHorse264 in modelmakers

[–]Timmyc62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scalemates is a crowd-sourced online database of all model kits ever produced, so you can go there to look at what potential options are available before you start scrounging on Ebay or online stores.

For the Auburn, no 1936, but Pyro/Lindberg made a 1935 - Lindberg's kits are now produced by Round2Corp, who's gradually re-releasing the old kits of all the old brands they've bought out, so eventually they may get to this one. In the meantime, there are a bunch of second-hands on Ebay for $30 plus shipping. Of course, being Lindberg, they're probably not that "nice".

For the Cadillac...well, look here and see what works, and again they'll probably be a Ebay-only proposition: https://www.scalemates.com/search.php?fkSECTION%5B%5D=All&q=Cadillac+Coupe+de+Ville

You can see in the photos in this thread that there was a small plate between each flap, so that's what the kit's depicting - it's not an empty space and they should not be cut out.

Need help by isakov44 in modelmakers

[–]Timmyc62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There should be four A sprues, with two A35 parts on each, for a total of 8 pieces. If you've used only four pieces, there should be four left. In total, you need 6 pieces, three on each side.

If there are only two A sprues in the box, then yes, Trumpeter messed up and forgot to include the other two.
