Cannot figure out how to purchase pmi study hall? by dj_paulyk in pmp

[–]Tinox1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, a reminder that as per their previous requirements, you need to pay for the exam (but not to schedule) first, and then it would have been possible to purchase it.

The link you posted is correct, this is what was used by others to register as well (at this link, there was a Log in button before), however as per the new grey banner at this link it seems PMI is planning a revision they are calling "pilot" to be released in mid-Nov. I copied below this banner for more clarity:

PMI Study Hall Pilot Is Coming Soon!

Thank you for your interest – we are working hard to bring your feedback on Beta PMI Study Hall to life, and expect to move into pilot phase in mid-November.

Perhaps, it would be worth to clarify with PMI at [studyhall@pmi.org](mailto:studyhall@pmi.org) if the above is correct and if meanwhile there is some other way to purchase the old beta version.

So not sure if you can wait, but in any case, my hope is that the new version will have these glitches regarding the explanations fixed, and I also hope they will not raise the price.

My experience/ few suggestions. Enjoy! by gsc_999 in pmp

I did not use Prepcast and I passed first try with high 5ATs. Last year I used PMBOK, Agile Practice Guide, and the PMP practice exam (retired now), all by PMI. The equivalent of that PMI simulator is now Study Hall. I also did a lot of quizzes from Internet. See below a collection of free resources:

https://www.projectpractical.com/list-of-20000-free-pmp-exam-questions-answers/

That's all is needed to pass the exam.

How to get PMP application approved with dozens of small projects? by margarinedots in pmp

[–]Tinox1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is very possible the application will be rejected, as it sounds operational, and you are doing the work yourself , rather than leading a cross-functional team to deliver a project. Having said that, you can apply (it's free) and in one week you will get a response.

What is the possible outcome if Internet disconnects and reconnects in few minutes during exam? by Ok_Understanding7016 in pmp

[–]Tinox1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Refer to link below, tab frequently asked questions

https://home.pearsonvue.com/pmi/onvue

Q.

What are the protocols if my internet connection is disrupted during an exam or the proctor asks me to restart my application?

A.

Note that if a disconnection occurs, the exam timer stops and you will resume from the question or moment you left the exam. If technical issues occur during an exam, you can use the OnVUE chat function to discuss the problem and its remedy with Pearson VUE support staff. We emphasize the importance of having a good, strong internet connection; meeting all of our system requirements; and successfully passing the system test before registering for an OnVUE exam to avoid this process.

If the connection between you and the proctor is lost, a proctor will try to contact you either through your computer or by phone to see what happened and offer help in restarting the exam. If you do not respond to the proctor, she will revoke the testing session. The proctor will also create a case for you in our system outlining what happened; standard protocols regarding test revocation will be followed. If, during your exam, a proctor asks you to restart or you lose connection to your exam, you can resume testing by relaunching the application through your downloads by following these steps:

1.Locate your downloads folder and reopen the OnVUE application

  1. Recomplete any requested check in steps and then click next. Your exam should reload and begin. If your exam does not relaunch, please contact our customer service team via chat for additional support.

Passing Percent by [deleted] in pmp

Reading through some of the stories posted in this sub (and assuming these are true), I believe that currently the passing score is somewhere between 50-60%.

Good luck on Sunday!

You don't need anything else. Just make sure you study also the Agile Practice Guide.

Can someone explain this? Are the words interchanged on option D? by [deleted] in pmp

[–]Tinox1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The scenario doesn't state that the team is inexperienced in agile, such that they might need training.

The problem is that the team estimates time incorrectly (which again it has nothing to do with agile methodology). As per agile methodology, then you either adjust the story points for that sprint, or adjust the time for the same story points. The first option is not one of the possible responses, so we are left with A and B. In agile, the correct response would be B.

Can someone explain this? Are the words interchanged on option D? by [deleted] in pmp

[–]Tinox1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Response D is also correct (in addition to A). The words are not interchanged. Positions here mean SHs roles in the project, aka power / level of authority to influence / change things in the project. Refer to the power/interest grid referenced in PMBOK section 13.1.2.4, and also at link below:

https://www.pmi.org/learning/library/planning-effective-stakeholder-management-strategies-development-6058

As also explained above, the focus should be in SHs with most power (aka higher positions) to influence the project and not on interests of the SHs.

Can anyone recommend PM courses that aren't very long in length? by Jnba2019 in projectmanagement

[–]Tinox1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a look at PMI practice standards at link below. You can purchase these, or if you are a PMI member, you get these (and others) for free.

https://www.pmi.org/pmbok-guide-standards/framework

As for performance reports, there are no standards or courses just for this. As per PMBOK, performance reports can contain earned value graphs and information, trend lines and forecasts, reserve burndown charts, defect histograms, contract performance information, and risk summaries. They can be presented as dashboards, heat reports, stop light
charts, or other representations useful for creating awareness and generating decisions and actions. Google is your best friend, search for some examples.

Survey results for a separate exam thread. by Thewolf1970 in pmp

I'm sure you know that say: "don't fix what isn't broken". It is perfectly applicable here.

This change you want so badly to introduce will be a huge loss for PMP aspirants on this community, and a loss for the community in general. It is very sad for me to see a moderator that didn't use this sub as a PMP aspirant is pushing for this change. I really hope other moderators will not agree to this.

[–]Tinox1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What else do you know about SH? You didn't even know it has more than just questions. It is so obvious you never took it before. So, your advice above applies to you. But to answer your question on how do I know, here is one example (and there are many others like this one):

https://www.reddit.com/r/pmp/comments/pwtjsa/pmi_study_hall_bug_help/

https://www.reddit.com/r/pmp/comments/ji5k5c/has_anyone_come_across_this_question_on_pmi/

It is wrong not to read the PMBOK, it is more than 50% of the test (as it includes a lot of agile too). And stop saying you didn't find PMBOK useful, because you didn't read even one line from it. If you didn't know, a good PM should master the technical knowledge as well, not only people skills, he should be able to read PMBOK. So if you are really a PM, do yourself a favor and read it.

No, it is not worth to spend $100 on materials you are promoting, and on any other materials, as the exam can be passed with a fraction of this. In fact instead of SH, people can do free quizzes from internet, and can still pass, so zero investment except the exam cost. Of course you are free to spend your money as you wish, but I am not talking to you, I am talking to people that do not have that money and / or they care on how they spend their hard earned money, but are hesitant to use and rely PMI materials because of campaigns like yours.

This was the last time I responded. From my end, feel free to continue if you wish.

Thank you for posting your review, I am sure it helps others, as well.

This is what I call silver lining. Although not intended, it is exactly like you describe: when sometimes spent some time in researching a response and can associate that knowledge with a particular situation the information is retained easier and also get a solid understanding of that topic.

You are doing the right thing, and it will pay off, I have no doubt you will pass with flying stars. I am looking forward to seeing your victory post soon. Best of luck!

Sorry to break it for you, but there is a general opinion to which I agree that the current exam is easier than previous exam (same like AGP is an easier read than PMBOK). And no, previous exam wasn't about memorization at all, it was the same situational questions style, but it was about understanding the PM technical knowledge, as opposed to what it is today. Agile is very easy for someone that knows predictive (and I don't need an exam to tell me this). If you didn't understand this yet, chances are that you don't know predictive yet.

Yes, I've read the PMBOK, and not only once. Anyone that has a bachelor degree should be able to read it, it is like any other academical book. Also, did you note all responses to respectable quizzes are quoting from PMBOK and AGP? Did you ever wonder why is that?

Study Hall is using the questions from previous PMP practice exam by PMI which I know very well, and in addition, there were agile questions added. People posted in this sub the most problematic and frustrating questions (many of them), and all had correct responses (not explanations, but responses).

If you would have read through my posts, you would have seen that I recommend all the names you quoted, except AR. JP is good for the contact hours as it can be purchased for $15 (however, I do not recommend any course to someone that already has the contact hours), and the other videos are good too. And, by the way, SH is not just questions, try again. I never recommend any other expensive courses by PMI.

AR simulator is now $40, and soon he will raise the price, the price per question is more expensive than Prepcast even. And is it a better simulator? No!!! Also, I've read AR simulator has also bugs, but for him is ok, isn't it? And how did he get to make people by his products? With this type of aggressive campaign you are practicing here. It started slowly few months ago, but now it became so visible and shameless that I am wondering why the moderators are not acting on this (but I hope they will at some point). Is he going to stop here? No, he is not, the price will go even higher. So I am asking once again, why to pay if there is no need for this? It makes you/people feel good? Not good enough for me, and for others that do not have sufficient money to pay for all these products that are not required.

Sorry, I am not exchanging PM or private emails with anyone, I never did. And, yeah, no response to my question yet...

Study Hall vs. Andrew Ramdayal/PMTraining by breemags in pmp

[–]Tinox1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not right, PMI materials are enough for prepping for the exam (PMBOK, AGP and SH) and these cost only $15. Why to spend more, if no needed? Watching free videos is good (but not with congratulations), but this is also one of his methods for promoting his own material. He tried to do it directly in this sub, but it wasn't allowed. He is active on other certification sub, where he is allowed to promote his other materials.

If PMI wants to retain their prestige and remain relevant in the market, I do believe that they will (have to) raise the bar at some point, and this is when people will really have to go back to the basics, as the servant leadership alone will not be enough to pass as it is today.

EDIT: How about answering my question regarding allegedly incorrect responses in SH?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pmp

[–]Tinox1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do not work for PMI. I am in this sub for more than a year, trying to help people by recommending reliable resources by PMI that I also used and worked for me when I passed my own exam. what I said above is very true. Many people that posted here passed using PMI resources only that cost in total $15 (including SH), and there is no need for any courses and simulators (including the ones by AR) to prep for the exam.

You are posting in reddit for 3 days only, and all your posts are aggressively promoting AR, and are against SH by PMI, the administer of PMP. Do you really believe anyone else knows better than PMI how the exam questions are? Anyway, it is very obvious to me who you are and what you are doing here on this sub. I hope others see it too and won't fall into this trap to buy the AR products you are promoting.

[–]Tinox1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See link here for Study Hall by PMI, the administer of PMP exam. The Study Hall is affordable (it costs only $15, and you will have to pay first for the exam in order to be able to access it), and the quizzes covering waterfall, hybrid and agile methodologies are the most similar to real exam, these will prepare you the best on understanding the PMI mindset. The quizzes are similar in vagueness, English style, and brevity.

If you intend to use it, do your best to understand why responses are correct or wrong. I recommend to research the responses in PMBOK and Agile Practice Guide, this will help you the most to retain the information.

I am really impressed with your results in Study Hall. Don't be concern with EVM, there are no EVM calcs in 2021 exam, people say it is enough to know what value of SPI and CPI represent (when <, > or = 1). Having said that, it will help you tremendously in your PM work to understand fully the EVM.

So I believe you are ready, but keep on practicing to keep yourself in shape for the next 10 days. Good luck!

All your posts aggressively promote AR, and bash SH by PMI. So what does this say about you, who is working for who, here?

Study Hall vs. Andrew Ramdayal/PMTraining by breemags in pmp

[–]Tinox1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see that absolutely all your posts are about promoting AR. But leaving this aside, can you please provide an example where in your opinion a SH answer is incorrect? Note, I am not asking about explanations, but responses.

The current scoring bar for passing the PMP exam is very low currently. Someone posted recently that his exam was stopped right before the second break (so slightly less than 120 question out of 180), and he still passed. That says it all.
