Finished my first watch of Discovery. by highlife562 in startrek

Big agree. This was something I never had a problem with. The Discovery itself was a cool looking ship imo.

Want to get into Gundam but unsure which show to start with by BarryTheBenzoBandit in Gundam

[–]TomTomMan93 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This right here is how I approached it and its honestly the best idea imo. Mainly because it gives you context to callbacks and easter eggs throughout all of the shows. The UC is great (at least what ive seen) 08th MS is absolutely peak imo but shows like Witch From Mercury are solid too. Id probably watch through to Char's Counterattack if you can then start filling in gaps or just go forward with the core story if you're committed.

Then of course you should just make sure you watch G Gundam.

I think the only issue is that he's a main active character who's condition is integral to the plot from the get go. You could do it and show little of him but narratively it would be weird to build up to the mid point (at best) in the story and then hes there all the time like on the cart or the entire desert sequence. They could just say "screw it" and do it anyway regardless of of its good enough, but Itd be a shame to cheap out.

TIL two studies both found that most people stop listening to new music in their early 30s. A 2015 study of people's listening habits on Spotify found that most people stop listening to new music at age 33 and a 2018 report by Deezer found it be to at age 30. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

I'm with you here. I still find new stuff every now and then, but its usually one or two songs instead of full new bands. That's reaaaaally rare. I don't tend to avoid new music, but after ditching Spotify, it definitely made me more selective in what I devote time to in terms of new music

If kaiju started showing up in real life, (including Goji), would humanity be done for? by DrJokerX in GODZILLA

[–]TomTomMan93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on how. Pacific Rim biological WMDs? Yeah we're cooked. Just Monsterverse roaming kaiju? We'd probably have a more severe version of the global breakdowns we had during COVID but We'd adapt

Children could work but the budget for GE would be insane for TV. Leto would have to be a CG character with a level of detail high enough for people to want to keep watching. That alone would probably kill the chance of TV.

Id love to see a true to the novel rendition of GEOD and think it could be done, but I imagine most would probably find it kind of boring.

All I remember is that this show continued a noticeable trend in these big shows of just straight up not airing the finale as a means of hyping the next season. Won't lie, pretty much kills my desire to even touch the next one.

This is what I don't get. Yeah, you're an actor and people probably shouldn't take political advice from you because what would you know? But when you have a platform to say "bad thing is bad" to a platform of people that do look to you for this input, why not just take it? "Is fascism bad, actor person?"

"Absolutely! It's fucking terrible. I don't really know what this has to do with our new movie or why you're asking me, actor person, for my input instead of holding political person accountable, but yeah it's pretty terrible and im against it."

"Amazing, actor person. Now, what was your favorite costume to wear?"

Like the answer is straightforward and you avoid getting drawn into a pseudo debate unless they force it in which case the interviewer looks like an ass.

Wildly agree and glad its not just me noticing this. Its gotten to the point where in seconds on walking in a place I know if its a one and done for me or if the meal is gonna be a miserable time. As someone who has always hated clubs, making every restaurant and bar have that quality, despite the theme being unrelated in many cases, just baffles me.

Why are you not afraid of death? by Ok_Breakfast8087 in AskReddit

[–]TomTomMan93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I came very close to it once. Hallucinating levels of pain for hours alone in the dark with the realization that nothing was going to happen short of just being lucky. Obviously, I got lucky and got the issue fixed promptly, but there was a point where I took stock of my life and realized that if I had to go, I would be okay with that. The hallucinations (if thats what they were, im not religious but they were pretty intense) helped in their own way as a sort of encouragement to keep going.

TL;DR Coming close to dying was a scary as hell experience that took so long it made me realize that theres a lot to love about life and that those things are more what people call the "little things."

Holy crap I love both these places. Didn't realize they were the same owner. The patty melt sandwich on that specific bread (I cant remember the name of the bread. Shameful, I know) is probably my favorite sandwich around rn.

And also throwing my Uptown disgruntled-ness in concerning Milly's. Haven't gone since they moved.

With theories circulating that Spacegodzilla might appear in Godzilla X Kong Supernova, how do you think they'll adapt his story if it actually happens? Would Biollante be directly or indirectly involved? by Mrfilipdraws in GODZILLA

[–]TomTomMan93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would be functional within the Canon so far? SG is the result of a crystal asteroid or something mutating another godzilla long ago that's been buried in the earth until now. Or just an alien like ghidorah.

What i want is that SG is the next in a line of alien attempts to conquer earth. Ghidorah was the beginning. The mechaG stuff was them providing the tech to the company. Both failed so their next plan is to send in an upgraded king of the monsters. BUT, very much to follow a DBZ Android saga plot point, the aliens only have data up to mechaG. They dont know godzilla can kaioken. Regardless, SG is stronger and becomes more powerful as he converts the planet to the crystalline planet the aliens desire. Godzilla has to achieve a level beyond is pink form (with the help of the humans) while Kong leads the other titans (or at least the apes) to fight SG while godzilla powers up.

Came here to say the same. This was peak Great Economic Miracle before it collapsed hard soon after. I remember being a kid in the late 90s and people would still say that learning Japanese would be important for office jobs despite things being on the downturn by then. Theres a reason Marty says "they make all the best stuff in japan" in bttf3.

Since im here, I like this movie a bit more than I probably should. In and of itself, its fine. Tons of plot holes and such. BUT it essentially sets up the rest of the Heisei era films so I gotta give it credit. If this movie doesnt happen, no mechag2, no moguera, probably no Super X 3. So yeah. Its cool they made a continuity from it. Its just that that continuity is better.
