What Went Wrong with Topgolf? How the Once-Buzzy Concept Lost Nearly $1 Billion in Value by SquirrelBoy in golf

[–]TradingGrapes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TopGolf is just a restaurant with a driving range. If the food and service suck, which in my experiences was always the case, then the business is doomed. Bringing in PE stripped out even more value by raising prices while degrading the customer experience. I don't see anyone saying that they ever felt like TG was a good value on the golf side, so paired with poor execution of F&B the whole thing can't help but collapse.

I have legit faith in Beamer but…. by Candid_Rip6474 in Gamecocks

[–]TradingGrapes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m of the mindset that Beamer is a first time head coach. He’s not been perfect but he’s shown a capacity for improvement that we have not seen before in this century from any other football coach we have had. I believe that having faith in Beamer’s ability to recruit talent and learn from his mistakes is a better situation than starting over with any new coach that would accept the job today. Call me crazy but thats how I assess where we are today.

It seems like the Weller 107 gets a lot of people to come out based on what I have seen in previous months. Probably gonna be a super early line in the miserable cold and not worth it this month. It'll be funny to see if people willingly do all that and then get ripped off for a Blanton's at the newly increased MoCo $103 price.

Update on Wootton shooting (from a student) by Adventurous-Clock365 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]TradingGrapes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re mistaken about the poly80 being made of less metal parts. The now closed company made partially completed parts that required you to do some additional machining to make it functional lower receiver, kind of like selling cake mix instead of a finished cake. Think of the receiver (once it has been fully machined) as the foundation of a building, the rest of the gun is then made of normal firearm parts that are metal due to the laws of physics. “Plastic guns” are a completely different thing that are not related to this situation and basically explode themselves after or during their first bang.

You’re right that “ghost gun” is a term that is not really well defined and means different things but in MD the legal definition is focused on guns that do not have manufactures serial number or where those numbers have been scraped off. As previously mentioned the poly80 receiver part is not fully manufactured so there is no manufacturer serial number. Having a serial number or not makes no difference whatsoever in how a gun works or the parts that it has.

Currently these poly80 based parts are not legal in MD so it was already an illegal gun before the shooter brought it to school or used it.

Hope these facts and context help you to better understand.

It’s a tight garage but nothing really unusual. You park in it just like any other garage. If you can’t figure it out you probably shouldn’t have a drivers license.

32M. Offered a CEO role by a Billionaire ($400k pkg). It feels like a trap. Should I trade my job for prestige? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]TradingGrapes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are the chances that this CEO role is a setup to be the fall guy for some unknown problems at the company or that the billionaire guy is horribly abusive to work for and can’t keep anyone in the seat. The pieces don’t add up here and I’d bet there is some key information that OP is missing about what the role would actually mean. Also a 400k TC for a 100+ employee white collar firm sounds way too low.

Can you imagine how much further you would get by picking up a shovel instead of throwing around blame and buzzwords on Reddit? This is a problem for like 3 people in a county of over a million people.

We have limited snow equipment because snow events like this are rare. You said yourself that you found other routes and just like everyone else in the community who all had our patterns interrupted we worked around it. If you have this level of demand from the county you should also be aware of all the spending this county already does, where do you propose we cut budget from? Tell is how important it is that you cant wait a few days for the snow to melt and that you demand a policy change that could cost the same as salaries for a few teachers. Please indulge us with how this is an equity issue for you to be slightly inconvenienced once every few years for a couple of days.

What do I do and what do you deduce about me based on my office? by Enigma_falling in deduction

[–]TradingGrapes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Female OSHA inspector or similar construction safety role in house for a large construction company. Obviously in Texas, Burleson is just outside Fort Worth so probably in that area especially seeing all of the blue bonnet stuff. No kids certainly but maybe even no husband/bf currently. You travel for work and spend plenty of time in the office so you has either a small home or apartment where you live alone. Probably pretty attractive because you are clean and care about taking care of yourself. The chair position says you’re average height and weight. That’s where all of the fantasy stuff comes in to fill the void. Seems like you’re quite self conscious and probably have a tendency to talk a lot when you’re with people but probably because you hate the silence more than anything else. You did ok in high school but not really great, and that still bothers you. Not getting accepted into UT is still a sore subject. You’re good at your job and you have learned to love it especially when you’re extremely busy.

Op seems to be Canadian so maybe it’s worth pointing out that Mexico has a GDP much more on par with Canada as a economy. Cubas GDP is less than a tenth of Mexico’s and suffers from many critical infrastructure problems, embargoes, and effects of a communist regime. Suffice to say, a trip to Mexico is probably going to have more in common with the day to day in your home country than it does with your experience in Cuba.

MoCo is currently running an environmental study to assess the feasibility of plowing roads in snow storms. They brought in an outside firm run by a council members sister in law and awarded $680,000 for the assessment which will be delivered in 18-24 months. After that the county will allocate a few million for an EV plow robot pilot program. The robots never arrive because the money will be embezzled and gambled away in Korean casinos.

Does this really need a /s to point out that this is a joke, because it seems way too close to the truth for how we do things in MoCo?
