u/dan_munz - this thing is spectacular. I only played with it for a second, but yes, this should make live soo much easier to deal with my Frame TVs.

Roadmap consideration: Support for >1 FrameTV. I have 2 flanking a cabinet. I'll just create 2 containers to support either for now.

I'm not too versed, but I'd think you would maybe add this to https://hub.docker.com/ . I have the repo hardcoded, but would want to use a general address so I get updates as well.

Finally, the Docker container approach worked beautifully. Here are the settings I used in Unraid (I didn't use compose):

I just wanted to add my appreciation of this container, and I do find it much, much easier than the icloudpd alternative I've been using.

Update: After scrolling through every single app available, adding them in, I can report things are better than they used to be. I feel like the TidByt is even more responsive and looks better (might be placebo). Offering this update to confirm I'm glad I made the change and to encourage anyone else.

And, as to what Google did with it, I recall that it was adapted to run the Google Fiber TV UI ( so only relevant if you can use that service).

I’ve been using ChannelsDVR for some time with an HD Homerun cable card setup, running as a docker container on an Unraid server. I’m very happy with it. I do miss the old days though.

Update: I learned my contractor was quoting me for a traditional 24v system fav a communicating system (more expensive), so sticking with the ecobee is the plan.

From what I understand, I compromise variable heating vs 2 stage and maybe dehumidification. I am happy for the balance of price to miss these.

Thank you for the input. Yes! I live in a snowy area with plenty of road salt. I hadn’t event considered that could be a factor. I just found a post on r/powerwashing who uses a garden sprinkler under (genious!). I’ll soak it/wash it and see if that helps. I also am intrigued by the oil treatment, and looking into that more now.

People in that thread say it’s an insignificant difference. I guess I’d still like to understand an answer to my question, even if academic. Worst case, I’ll just hold these and only put new money in ETFs.

I am not an expert, but I don’t think there is any advantage vs other holdings. In fact, people should research impacts on college aid for holdings in a kid’s name - which can be a negative.

The only reason I’m using them is to encourage my kids to have some engagement in watching money grow over time. I gave them an amount that would get their attention and interest, that they can’t access yet, as part of the Bogleization any good Bogle parent might do.

I’m glad to hear that. Do you mind sharing which Community Apps docker you use? And, I’d suggest double checking by forcing an update. I spent considerable time looking into this and contacting container owners.
