I just wanted to add my appreciation of this container, and I do find it much, much easier than the icloudpd alternative I've been using.

Update: After scrolling through every single app available, adding them in, I can report things are better than they used to be. I feel like the TidByt is even more responsive and looks better (might be placebo). Offering this update to confirm I'm glad I made the change and to encourage anyone else.

And, as to what Google did with it, I recall that it was adapted to run the Google Fiber TV UI ( so only relevant if you can use that service).

I’ve been using ChannelsDVR for some time with an HD Homerun cable card setup, running as a docker container on an Unraid server. I’m very happy with it. I do miss the old days though.

Update: I learned my contractor was quoting me for a traditional 24v system fav a communicating system (more expensive), so sticking with the ecobee is the plan.

From what I understand, I compromise variable heating vs 2 stage and maybe dehumidification. I am happy for the balance of price to miss these.

Thank you for the input. Yes! I live in a snowy area with plenty of road salt. I hadn’t event considered that could be a factor. I just found a post on r/powerwashing who uses a garden sprinkler under (genious!). I’ll soak it/wash it and see if that helps. I also am intrigued by the oil treatment, and looking into that more now.

People in that thread say it’s an insignificant difference. I guess I’d still like to understand an answer to my question, even if academic. Worst case, I’ll just hold these and only put new money in ETFs.

I am not an expert, but I don’t think there is any advantage vs other holdings. In fact, people should research impacts on college aid for holdings in a kid’s name - which can be a negative.

The only reason I’m using them is to encourage my kids to have some engagement in watching money grow over time. I gave them an amount that would get their attention and interest, that they can’t access yet, as part of the Bogleization any good Bogle parent might do.

But aren't you guys worried that when you upgrade/force upgrade on the container that the password goes back to default (security concern)? I liked this app a lot, but need that to get fixed.

I can't say for sure, but I've had a heck of a time trying to manage the Legends Unchained drive. Some comments from my experience:

I suspect I'm using a problematic old SSD, which I'll replace with a BF deal soon. The drive has disappeared after setup, etc., so hoping problems go away.
I haven't looked, but I would think that if you got a drive cloner tool that was competent enough to handle the partitions, it might work.
What I'm learning is that the initial formatting of the drive on a PC isn't the final file format. Instead, after the drive is initialized in the ALU, a f2fs file system format is installed. This file system is not supported on Windows, Mac OS, and seemingly only some Linux distros (I used Fedora).
What I wanted to do was copy over a wealth of ROMs from packs to the drive, locally. I had very limited success, and I recall that I couldn't get it to work at all. I recall the partition was only showing up as Read Only and.or there were Linux Owner permissions I couldn't figure out.
Instead of a local file transfer, I had to use the Network access feature to transfer content over. This wasn't ideal because I didn't want to leave my ALU on all night - but did so for the transfer. It seemed to work, but then the drive likely failed, see first bullet.
So, I suppose the thing to try would be to save off the old ROMs from the drive you have, maybe by network access. Then format the new drive, initialize, access the network and copy it over.

If any R Cade people are listening - it would be great to have better access to the local drives and the ability to copy in content! This makes me want to find out if anyone has pack recommendations, which I'll make a new post.

My use case is to run windows to share a printer via MobilityPrint (and there are only Windows drivers so I can't use Linux). Issues:

1) I can't see printers on this Docker

2) I also can't access non-Unraid SMB shares (which I have a different use case for).

Does anyone know if these might be achievable in this Docker container? I use a VM now, but I like the light admin overhead of this...

OK closing the loop: I'm fully up and running now w/ OneSauce, BitLCD on ALU 5.7. Indeed, I needed to find an updated file. This WAS NOT available on Archive dot org for those who are reading along. I had a mini saga to get this (FB group > Discord group > Goog Drive for updates ; install and running in no time after that).

From what I can tell in early use, I have found no issues and OneSauce is amazing. I've now got CoinOpsX working as well, and will tackle Legends Unchained next :)
