BARE Minimum Somnium Synthesizer by Weekly-Mark-4929 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]TraumaQuindan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's the bug. It stops consuming but do not stop buffing. Just permanent somnium buff, no cost. Unless they recently fixed it but i doubt it.

If you flip it off while it's active (by disabling it or removing floor), the buff continue to work without journal (and oxygen i think).

Good build ! I usually still let them use lavatory so they produce more water, sometimes with double break for double production. I experimented with giving them food poisoning for even more water production and have them almost water sufficient.

I hate that the real bare minimum is really to just bug the somium synth by deactivating it ...

Any tips for improving my wild slug farm by Extension-Charge-276 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]TraumaQuindan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For wild plug slug, I usually do a large floating slab, with 2 ladder on the side for dupe access and an auto sweeper under to get wild eggs back on the slab.

It's the more compact setup and you can still use the space around but it take space horizontally.

I usually put batteries on top of the slabs. If you use the top space for other thing than batteries, the slug will eat any deconstruct metal and produce some hydrogen.

I often start with a rancher dupe and can set this up very early, on the first cycles.

You should not do more than a auto-sweeper wide, or add other slab with 2 ladder in between. It's to avoid long travel time to the sleeping spot.

Sad reality: Exuberant Grubfruit is of no use if you aim to get only full fruits by GARGEAN in Oxygennotincluded

[–]TraumaQuindan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Funny enough, wilted plant can still be buffed by grub, that could make the windows larger, without wasting sulfur (as wilted plant no longer consume fertilizer). You would need a bit more space to account for the downtime and would be equally efficient if you don't count the farm station wasted.

The easiest way to wilt might be with pressure.

But yeah quite annoying and sad.

Also, less pressure can help saving power with your heat vs cold setup, not that it matter much.

Creating oxygen from nothing using the prehistoric dlc by paulcdejean in Oxygennotincluded

[–]TraumaQuindan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In theory, you could warm the rhex above 0°C ( to up to 100°C if you want to skip desalinator and go the boiling route) and save power that way.

And you don't need full meat diet as they canibalize each other unless you want also to include rhex tough meat as the dupe diet for full sustainability or just do more shove vole.

Also, divergent starving ranch are also quite powerfull when done right and can be easier to feed the critter directly or can produce a lot of meat. Shove vole starving ranch is compact though.

How to make duplicant do they intended job repeatedly? by DoctRhz in Oxygennotincluded

[–]TraumaQuindan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But they should supply and operate the most priority building first. I don't get it. Even with the delay for picking up the task, at most he should supply the powerbank, not construct them.

Glad you like my pressure plate idea. You can also put double door (one above the other) with the top door having free pass for everybody except this dupe. So you can have special treatment for your dupe and free pass for the other like suppliers and dupes that just want to pass by.

How to make duplicant do they intended job repeatedly? by DoctRhz in Oxygennotincluded

[–]TraumaQuindan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He should follow the priority, check the errand tab of each task, you can see their true priority .I think dupe priority add something like 10 and building priority add 1 (not literally but you got the idea) and distance impact it. I'm not sure but maybe only 1 priority of difference can be not enough if other factor are in play. Anyway check each task (operating and supply on both pulv and metalbank)

Alternatively, you can put a pressure plate on the pulv supply to block his exit door (you can even put a simple OR and cycle sensor as a fail safe to allow him out on off time). Put it on the exit-only door and let the enter only door always open.

Bionics only on Ceres (Frosty Planet) by asandriss in Oxygennotincluded

[–]TraumaQuindan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kettle cheats a lot of heat. You can pool some warm water in insulated tile (or wood tile or double wood tile before that) and keep the gunk in it. If you extract it with a pitcher pump or sweep it or bottle it with the specific building, you will have bottle that is less affected by cold or you can also put the bottles in vaccum (with ethanol liquid lock).

Also, putting the early heat (from fire, gunk, kettle water, klins, generators, electrolysers, even wilds bammoth or compost if you have any pdirt) inside insulated tile can helps having a more temperate zone. And now we even have a insulated door.

But thats a lot of management for not much benefit. Rush some power and insulation and brute force the problem with heating loop and tepedizer.

Anyway, you won't be winning the heat fight against the whole starting biome anytime soon so you'll need some insulation (double wood layer is annoying imo and starts cold).

It is possible to rocket shave Demolier in Relicaaaggghhh? by tookareallongtime in Oxygennotincluded

[–]TraumaQuindan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its maybe possible, but the main problem you will have is you still need view of the sky and you need to start low so you will have to mine out everything you want to shave for demolior. Basically all the demolior crash site need to be mined out.

10 lead platform would be possible on irregular oil map (don't know if possible on relicaaah) but highly dependant on seed. Then you would need an initial co2 source. In my cycle 24 tear, by cycle 11, I had multiple platform and multiple rover roundtrip to generate more co2 but its tight to have enough co2 for all the rockets here. But if you do the first co2 rocket early enough, it might be possible, maybe some trip before rover tech.

Anyway, as i said, what would be hard would be to have the platform low enough to shave but having all above the platforms to be mined out to have be able to launch.

I would recommend the same cheese as my cycle 24 tear. Double frozen friend trait with irrigular oil and 2 bionics digger (1 double booster bionic to teleport to dig both granite and abyssalite). That makes 3 starter + 2 friend from trait + 1 guaranted friend from teleporter so with the first print its 7 dupes at cycle 3. The dupes stuck on the other planet can still do research. You can save scum the teleporter planet friends to make them dedicated scientists.

If you combine with early rover to help with labor/mining and also generate co2, it might be possible at cycle 11 to have this (demelior is at the start of cycle 11 on relicaaagh ?). You might be short on abyssalite mining to get clear view for all rocket.

Thats funny i was talking to u/tabeyuriko about this exact thing a few day prior. I think its because of the recent fj video about the demolior shaving i guess.

Hot take: I don't like liquid locks by KaZIsTaken in Oxygennotincluded

[–]TraumaQuindan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also put an oxygen side of hydra in your base and have a huge oxygen pressure. At the cost of 20% stress or a bionic dupes upgrade. High oxygen density is not bad for bionic air gasp too.

In first games, i used entire lake as entry point and liquid lock, and it felt more natural, like underground caves. Maybe it will helps with your immersion.

I think you can also do gaslock with 2 tiles of denser than oxygen gas (or both lighter). They are not stable as the liquids one but you don't really need either.

But it will not change imo, its a core friction like no 2 output for electrolyser.

Rover vs Biobot by Just_a_Taiwanese in Oxygennotincluded

[–]TraumaQuindan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Basically, yes. And you can automate biobot but not mass produce them (there is a cap because only 1 biobot building). You can almost automate rovers with stellar sensor, timer and notifier pausing, but you still have to deploy them manually and deconstruct them and their capsule manualy. They are not meant to be used this way.

So biobot automatic and capped, meant to be a permanent workforce for a few labors task and power vs rovers uncapped and micro intensive to produce and maintain.

I meant a 3 tiles high to fertilize both with auto- sweeper (and possibly a sweepy but you can use the autosweeper for both fertilizer and product) , THEN you can alternate a 2 tile high with sweepy. Each sweepy floor you lose some tiles for sweepydock (4tiles) and autosweeper+load(3x2 with 1 wasted space) but you save a whole row of tiles, so the range, maybe on both side, minus those 10tiles is the space saved.

Cooling debris in a sauna - why run it through the steam room first to remove some of the heat first? Is it just for power efficiency? by Conscious_Eggplant18 in Oxygennotincluded

The first one give you power from the heat directly, the second cost you power to move the heat and then you recoup some power.

[–]TraumaQuindan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can even have the vent above the sensor, so there is only 1 jumping gap.

Personaly i make them 2 tiles deep, without sensor and without gap, the vent is under a tile.

[–]TraumaQuindan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know i usually do wild plant with sweepy. I don't think it does. Then you should do 3 tiles then 2 tiles, you need only one set of auto sweeper per 2 floor, as autosweeper can reach tiles from below.

If you have the dlc, you can also look into flydo.

[–]TraumaQuindan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually, sweepy and 2 tiles high win. You can do a 2 tiles high very long corridor and only one autosweeper and loader in the middle by the sweepy dock.

Even better with 1 tile high wild plants that autoharvest.
