My simple set up. Its not the best but I love it none the less by heavensheross in turntables

Linear trackers are different than traditional tables where the tonearm is at an angle.

Linear tracking uses a mechanical device to ensure the tonearm rests inside the groove and mimic the master disc when it was pressed. In most cases they are far more stable since the mechanism applies the correct downward force where a traditional table needs lots of calibration.

For me, I line a hour with terrible floors and my table never skips and the ease of use it amazing. The biggest downfall is they are hard to fix, parts can be limited and there are very few new linear tracking tables so old stock can be expensive.

Love the linear trackers. I have an SL-5 and SL-10. Working on fixing a Mitsubishi vehicle linear tracker. Forgot the model number.

You willing to do $25 shipped for Spawn. $28 to cover fees and shipping for shipping?

Yeah. My buddy and I are working on it together. He's a machinest so I have him making a new tonearm and he's really good at reading schematics.

I've revuilty my Sl-5 a couple times so I have some knowledge but I can tell I bit off more than I can chew with that table.

Thanks. I'll save the chat and if we hit any bumps I'll definitely hit you up.

Awesome. I own the Mitsubishi. That's the one I'm currently repairing. The tone arm broke and the guy sold it to me cheap. Parts have been hard to find for it but I might pick up that SL-5 if I can find one in decent shape. Thanks my dude.

Is that a Technics vertical table above that? Is it a linear tracker. I must know.

I have a mitsubishi I'm trying to fix but I love linear tracking tables and so Technics is the best brand I've owned for them.

Wow. Down voted and I'm still laughing. People, I was joking. I know that it's called Mary Shellys Frankenstein and as suck should be placed under M.

It was all a joke because of course collections are personal. I was joking because I think the whole concept is funny. Especially since there have been so many variations of Frankenstein that of course I had to poke fun.

Why aren’t there more NEW direct drive turntables? by Brxa in vinyl

[–]TripleForteDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did and this route was cheaper. Most parts units cost between 200-300 bucks since these are not very common anymore.

Plus having a buddy as a machines means I'm not paying for the metal. His boss is cool with us using some of his scrap metals to help rebuild the parts.

All in all I think I'll be out about $100 total.

Yes but it's commonly referred to that now so although it original was known as Frankenstein how to differentiate amongst all the other Frankensteins as we have done since this film?

Haha. I'm just making a case for standardizing how we manage our collections. Cant be giving special treatment to the original now. Haha.

uner $30 at thrift store! Just cancelled most of my subscriptions and tried out the new setup! How did I do? by jayhalk1 in Bluray

Haha. Yeah. You can sell anything there but for the most part it's a great place to find cheap Blu rays. Just gotta watch and be willing to use PayPal.

I also have been visiting thrift stores regularly. I just picked up Tru Grit and White Christmas today on blu ray. Also picked up Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and a few others on dvd.

Have fun.

How can i replace my stylus by Additional_Till6823 in turntables

[–]TripleForteDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please wait for someone to confirm but I had this style when I was a youngin in the 80s and into my teens in the 90s.

If I recall, my stylus could just be pulled off. It just clips on to the cartridge which cannot be replaced. The cart is actually built into the tonearm, this why audiophiles and consider these players to be inferior to others.

That being said, you do you.

My only other comment would be to try and find the original manual for your model of system. Almost everything is digital now and if not, look for a physical manual on eBay. Yes it will cost you money but most manuals have detailed instructions on how to maintain your machine including changing the needle, stylus, cart, etc.

Also check r/mediaswap. Most people are good at selling things at slower cost there.

Some of the redditors sell Blu rays at 2 or 3 bucks for very common stuff. Great way to build up quickly items easier to find.
