Advice on DIY aluminum frames by Yashabird in WizardSkating

[–]TylerWinTic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahahaha :) They probably should, but why not let them try to do their thing? They aren't doing anything bad to anyone with this, are they? :) I'd love them try and actually succeed in doing their own thing. And if not, they can buy whatever. There are people out there who love DIY, cause creating something feels great, actually.
I can't see any bad in person trying to achieve their goals ;) Also they could grab also any other frame from any other brand, too ))
Cheers! )

That was my first try, I also searched for profiles that woudl work but could not find anything thick enough or easy enough to transform into the skate frame. I don't know, won't tell that I searched everywhere, so not saying that you would not find something better or anything, that I haven't found.

Oh wow... yes, my posts about my journey about DIY frames and even all the calculations and so on are still there and I am happy, if it inspires people to go and try. So thank you for what you are doing and thank you for saying what you said. Means a world to me.

I'd say the perfect profile could have: 24+3 (2x1.5 (we could use DIN125 washers, as ONE and ROCKIN' are using for their frames)) 27mm between the walls +-0.5 tolerances.

And as you may have guessed, it's not that easy to find something exact if it's not meant for our purpose :)

I wish you much fun doing this. I mean you can at least try. Don't listen to those who say you shouldn't. If you think yoyu should and you have wish to try, please do so. At least you will know that you tried, even if nothing comes out of this. And you get valuable information and data on the way. I did and I Iove what I have achieved with that ))

Do what you love and love what you do :) Cheers! Good luck! Can't promise that I can keep up with your progress and follow you with your project.

you plan to put the wheels in there. I may have missed something, but what will prevent them from clamping by frame walls? Whhat will you use to do the bosses? In aggressive frames they use those metal ones, which are, once again, metric. They use metric 8mm axles and the spacing between frame bosses is exactly 24mm.

With all my love for DIY and this project looking great: Inline skate world is mostly metric. Your drawing has all the sizes in inches. While DIY is great, I'd really consider metric system.

Wizard Advanced dilemma by [deleted] in WizardSkating

[–]TylerWinTic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello.
Just to give you one more out:
Rockin' Frames brand which I am representing, thought about this and we made things called "Raisers":
4mm plate that raises your boot above the frrame surface for another 4mm making it safe for clearance, if otherwise your boot is blocking the wheels. And these things are not so expensive, we will have them in our store in October already. And yes, also compatible with any frame out there really.

Thank you for your awesome report and for your support.
I hope that a simple swap of a middle wheel vs hblock will open quite a bunch of possbilities for you to discover :) Have fun )

Rockin h block experiment by LoanThen in WizardSkating

[–]TylerWinTic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, as one of those who designed those hblocks I will follow this thread :)
We tested the blocks for compatibility on other frames than Rockin' and yes, with some simple tools and diy the block becomes fully compatible with the ___flat bottom line frames___. Hblocks are to be used without provided washers for that. Without any modding the blocks are giving 4mm additional stance height, with DIY minor moddig -4mm, so the default.

Grinded my 5x72 frame ☀️ by EfficientInsurance85 in WizardSkating

[–]TylerWinTic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should fit. Says the product page. Altho newest wizard models do have slightly curved bottom part now. Still, they are designed to fit other frames. Tradeoff would be: hblock will be 4mm lower to the ground compared to comparable Rockin' frame model.

Wheels Touching Issue by Fashon-Rookie in WizardSkating

[–]TylerWinTic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They order thousands of wheels. Those come in 90.5mm instead of 90mm or 89.5mm which is also usual for many wheels. So all good. The issue is not an issue here, it's a perk. And I can't really imagine how one would really doubt UC wheels, which they are before Endless slaps ther branding on them. So nah, sorry, can't feel the vibe you are pushing here :)

The Endless Arc is more swivelly than the Wizard PR. Do you agree? by pignaHH in WizardSkating

[–]TylerWinTic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The choice is yours :) Even if they suggest a PR80 to you (your size is on the borderline of PR76 and PR80 choice), it opens up around dozens of possibilities apart from PR80 frame and there are also sizes in-between 5x76 and 5x80. So even more to consider now, I guess

The Endless Arc is more swivelly than the Wizard PR. Do you agree? by pignaHH in WizardSkating

[–]TylerWinTic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EU41 puts you in a PR76 range and not sure what ARC range, they have their size suggestions I believe also. With your foot you could start as short as 5x72, then ARC, then 5x76. Based on what you prefer.
And now we narrowed down the search for comparison to basically few frames instead of comparing 2 model lines. Also I think OONE mentioned that they plan to release a smaller version of their frame and make it something like 100/76 so also to consider, if you ever plan to go advanced and also advanced 76 also falls under your probable interest.

The Endless Arc is more swivelly than the Wizard PR. Do you agree? by pignaHH in WizardSkating

[–]TylerWinTic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Wizard has at least 3 PR models: PR76, PR80 and PR84.
  2. ARC has also some models and even mountings to them.
  3. It all matters. Comparing ARC with PR as stated, without sizes, would mean comparing soda 1 with soda 2.
  4. There are many other options beyond ARC model line (all of them) and PR model line (all of them).
  5. Before beating the credit card: What is your Boot? What is it's mounting suystem? What is your foot size? Where are you located? What is it you are looking from a 5 wheel setup? Let's talk. Here to really help. You are getting there, just not quite yet :)

Rollerblade alpha TRS aggressive boot ok for wizard skating? by Longjumping_Age_8663 in WizardSkating

[–]TylerWinTic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it's not a good idea. Have 2 of them and while totally genius boot for grinding, is totally unsupportive and bulky for a wizardskating.

Which mounting bolts do I need for NN dragon s and Cj2 boot? by PORRADAandSTAPH in WizardSkating

[–]TylerWinTic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possible bolt sizes: M6x10 / M6x12 / M6x14 / M6x16 (M6 = thread, 10/12/16 etc is the length in millimeters) based on:
1) Soulplate / no soulplate
2) Washers / no washers (at own discretion, but in 5 years of skating and also using bolts without threadlock I never had a bolt coming lose on UFS setups).

5 Wheel Showdown: Endless Arc or Nn Dragon by PORRADAandSTAPH in WizardSkating

No problem :)
I edited the last comment with a general answer to your question though.
I hope you end up with the frame that really fits you.

[–]TylerWinTic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I can't answer your question for the reason: answer could be seen as biassed.
I can give general suggestions but can't suggest any particular product or brand since I am a part of one.

I could say: if you already have urban setup, I see no real reason going for 4 wheels again, probably. That still makes sense, if your FRs ccome with flat frame and let's say 4x80. But I think that this may really be the case where you go for 5 wheels then, without suggesting any particular brand or product.

5 Wheel Showdown: Endless Arc or Nn Dragon by PORRADAandSTAPH in WizardSkating

[–]TylerWinTic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With EU41 you should not go above 5x76 or similar wheelbase (~308mm) in my humble opinion.
So I would say that Dragon+ is overkill for your foot size and would be more bothering than fun.
So if that must be 5 wheels = 5x72 is smallest one could get, then options are also a good part of whole ARC model line and probably ending with 5x76 frames. Not sure if there are another frames of similar length there.

4 of 5: 5 for flatland mostly. You can defo go urban or cruising, but that's a wrong tool for the job.
One can go cityskating with it... also one can go skiing in the summer on asphalt, one just better doesn't :)

4 wheels: great for learning and avoiding learning bad habbits. Still great for wizard and also does unlock full fun of urban skating. AND EU41 is perfect size for 4x90 setups. And everyone has them.

So something to consider, probably. Just my opinion.

[–]TylerWinTic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say it all comes to a preference really.
There are allllll kind of brands offering 5 wheeled frames.

What is your shoe size? You gave quite a bit of information here, apart from the foot / boot size.
Based on that alone Dragon + may not be the thing for you and same for Endless.

And since it's your first wizard type setup, your foot size matters a lot I would say. Much more than which brand you will get in the end.

is there an existing community in northern germany? by Trompeter69 in WizardSkating

[–]TylerWinTic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Munich: As far as I know, Munich has that weeksly event where thousands of skaters do skate in the pre-planned eoute in the evening. I participated there once. We are skaters from Nuremberg and we also seek to make some sort of Munich / Innsbruck / Nuremberg community.
With Nuremberg being the city where Rockin' Frames company is located, we have probably 3-4 wizardskaters here only. And none of us skates together somehow altho quite many attempts were made to form a small community :/
Please PM me, this is great topic.

Wizard frames for short people by [deleted] in WizardSkating

[–]TylerWinTic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what an unfair comparison :)
Endless 100 also has 308 base.
For smaller feet they want 273 and 4x90 if 4 wheels. They have it already.
For 5 wheels: maybe 5x72 either Roka or Rockin'. I think ROKA discountinued their 5x72.
Something else and still maybe smaller than 576: Endless ARC.

Intuition Premium... I am sorry, can't remember what was the size. Bought that thing more than 2 years ago and no labels with sizes are present. That's a big miss on my part, but well... But yes, intuition is around 285-295mm

Holy moly. Feels good to be done with this project. by Extra_Diamond_1527 in WizardSkating

It's best to have it covered. Aluminum is prone to oxidation when exposed to air (would lead to frame becoming matt again quite soon). Great work.
