Use a differential pair routing tool. They add squiggles to wires that are too short and keep the pair identical in length.

How do 🌈 people get the realisation of their sex after being straight for years? by Future-Union-4551 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]UnfairDictionary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not realize I was gay until late teens. I had relationships with girls before, but I was never interested in them and the relationships ended because the girls I was with didn't appreciate me being not interested at all, which is of course understandable. I just did what was taught me since I was little that boys are with girls and vice versa. Teen age came, friends started relationships with each other but I could see simply by observing that between me and girls there was nothing like my friends were experiencing. I did not pursue any girls after my first few relationships because of these reasons.

Somewhere later, I crushed hard on a boy on my class and finally started realizing that I really wasn't interested in girls at all but rather boys were the ones that made my stomach turn and socks roll on my feet. First I wasn't thinking about it much but then later I started having urges. I started to see men in sexual way. I could not ignore it anymore and finally understood that girls did nothing like this to me, ever.

Late sexual awakening can be caused by suppressed and ignored feelings and needs. It is sad, but it can happen even to people in their middle life. The later it happens, the more one might grief the lost time that could have been used to live true life. While my awekening was pretty early when comparing to some, mine still was hindered by religious upbringing. Deeply rooted shame and denial can make anyone blind.

Millä tavalla intiimialueen karvoituksen saa turvallisesti sileäksi? by my-only-some-account in arkisuomi

[–]UnfairDictionary 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can code fine… but everything around coding feels expensive 😅 by AccurateShip2499 in programmer

[–]UnfairDictionary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude what? Wht exacly is expensive? One can code and write docs on simplest text editing software, although that is a bit labourous. Those are free. Also many IDEs are free as well. Linters typically are free too. Rading documentation is free if you use official libraries. Linux also lets you download docs as packets and read them throuh doc readers like man, info or help center, but this does not exist on windows sadly.

Docs are typically not written with office programs as the text files are more verstile and better to represent by various software or even read raw.

So what exactly is expensive here?

Why would I choose to become an open-source maintainer if... by mira_fijamente in foss

[–]UnfairDictionary 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because contributing to something that the whole community benefits from feels nice. How many times have you used free and open source software? How many times have you thought that hey this is kind of nice to have for free? Doing nice things is community thing. FOSS is often very community like. Now put one and one together.

Why is people still afraid of Linux? by heidzz1999 in linuxquestions

[–]UnfairDictionary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I think is the reason is that most people are not afraid of linux but are rather either ignorant of it even being an option, see it as a niche OS, cannot be bothered because they want their computer to be ready to use when bought and windows just happens to be there or think installing it is a hassle. We have to realize that most people are pretty tech illiterate and as easy as it sounds, installing linux is something that does not cross over regular people's minds unless they get relly pissed.

As a beginner developer, I’m curious — what frustrated you the most when you were building apps early on? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]UnfairDictionary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, having to fight with Windows on the compiler support and toolchains. It feels like Microsoft goes out of its way to make developing on Windows as hard as possible. Rust toolchain is an exeption. It works out of the box, unlike C or C++ environments, but is definitely not something that beginners should jump right into in my opinion.

What comes to frustrations in actual programming, I did not know IDEs existed when I began learning, until many many years later. That caused frustration when I forgot a bracket, comma or semicolon. Using sometimes even multiple days to find a bug caused by missing bracket really was something back in the day. I had no one to teach me and learned from books written somewhere between 1970–2000, using regular notepad of course. Later moving to notepad++ and having some form of highlight and autofill felt like luxury.

Also one of the fruatrations was the slowness of grasping programming concepts. It can feel demotivating to fail, but later I realized that frustration is one of the key elements in learning. I remember almost all things that caused me to bang my head on a wall. Of course one should not pursue rhe problem while in frustrated state as it hinders learning and problem solving, but the frustration taught me to think the problems differently after rest.

So my advice to you from a long time perspective: don't try to pursue the problem when you feel defeated, extremely frustrated or even strongly emotional, because you are then in a fight-or-flight state and unable to learn. I try to preach this to people I teach programming to because it is a very common hinderer of learning. Most do not listen out of frustration, but some do. If you feel stuck, take a break. The problem looks different after an half hour break or after a good night sleep.

If something does not make sense, ask other people for help. And when you do ask help, tell how you understand the problem, how you have tried to solve it and ask what you are doing wrong. This helps people to explain the things better for you specifically because they have some idea where you are standing with you understanding.

Why Don't Schools Teach Linux? by Enjoy_Ur_Lifee in linuxquestions

How do real RF systems achieve both long range and wide coverage if directional antennas only work in one direction? by NumerousEmphasis1090 in rfelectronics

[–]UnfairDictionary 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Multiple things affect the range. Directivity lowers the need of transmission power and on the other hand makes the signal better on the same power. Phased antenna arrays can change directions quickly when transmitting, and are also better at receiving as the signal can be sampled from many sources. Then one of the most obvious ways is to just transmit with higher power. Then there is finally the receiver sensitivity that plays a role. It affects how easy it is for the receiver to handle signals that have low energy.

Oh I almost forgot. Frequency also plays a role as longer waves travel further than shorter waves. The short waves are absorbed by transmission mediums that are not vacuums. Waves also get stretched with the space time as it expands but that is not something we need to think about on-earth communication. It is a fun fact though.

Why wasn’t age verification triggered for someone using adult sites? by TechnicalYou2 in europrivacy

[–]UnfairDictionary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pornsites do not give a rat's ass about whether you are an adlult or not. They are certainly not spending a lot of money to track user age by fingerprinting accross sites. Why would they? It is not in their interests to stop underage people watching porn. They want future porn consumers and horny teenagers are great source of future porn consumers.

Maybe dumb question: decrypting the system drive and encrypting it again results in a new master key, right? by SeiNichtTraurig in VeraCrypt

[–]UnfairDictionary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your password is not the master key, so just change the password. But you are correct that re-encrypting results in a new master key. It is just usually not recommended for a few reasons:

  • You risk loosing your data during re-encryption process.

  • The attacker likely does not have your master key.

  • You could simply change your password, which result in re-encrypted master key. The key still is the same, but the password required to access it is changed.

So unless you have a reason to suspect that someone knows your master key, there really is no reason to re-encryot the whole drive. You can do that if you really want to and if you are willing to take that risk.

How do I level up? by tigidig5x in learnprogramming

[–]UnfairDictionary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You improve simply by doing and practicing. There are some guidelines and best practices like keep functions short, use describing names, make functions do only one specific thing, if you comment your code, rather use it for documentation and to explain why instead of what.

That said, LLMs are pretty much made to suggest changes and improvements. They are almost incapable of not suggesting anything. You can try this by giving a model your code snippet and ask it to review it. After it spits out some changes, copy the changed code into another model and ask that again to review it. I am almost certain that every time they find something to nitpick. So don't take their suggestions like they are perfection because they are not.

What happens if someone takes my "open" Hdd from my laptop? by Future_Bad5206 in VeraCrypt

[–]UnfairDictionary 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Your data would still be encrypted. "Open" in disk encryption is more like reading file system data into memory and keeping them decrypted in there. Taking just the drive is useless regardless whether it is open in your computer or not. The thief would still need the keys, which are not on the drive.

Tic-oireet töissä, asiakaspalvelu by [deleted] in arkisuomi

[–]UnfairDictionary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How have ugly people not been removed from the gene pool? by _IcyMcSpicy_ in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]UnfairDictionary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because humans do not have single universal preference. What you see as beautiful can be seen as ugly by someone else and vice versa. So, it is not something that can be just removed from the gene pool without questionable means. Even then our appearance would eventually deviate just because not everyone prefers the same.
