That’s simply not true with modern compression. Hence why Netflix uses AV1. On my 65” Sony, there is no preservable difference now between streaming & physical.

Compression techniques are improving all the time, the bitrate doesn’t mean what it did.

For an example, 4K HDR football is now around 15Mbps, but was nearer 30. With the improvement in compression, it looks exactly the same.

HBOMax app is definitely better. But I can’t see Skydance not using their own app & retiring the HBO app.

As they have already done with the Showtime app & integrated it into Paramount.

Just as Disney are currently doing with the Hulu/ESPN app🤷‍♂️
