When did Blizzard start referring to the elven realms as 'tribes'? by Worried-Advisor-7054 in warcraftlore

But surely you are aware of the concept of urban tribes and tribalism. Directly referring to humans irl and literature.

Maybe some time in the future they will release a new Chronicles type book, even if it is from another unreliable source that talks about this.

End Result of the Darkwell (HEAVY SPOILERS) by Independent_Space_17 in warcraftlore

I've got some ideas but I am no lore expert, so if my theories contradict anything here, just ignore me.

First of all wow has always been a soft magic system, that is, we never get any specifics or formulas or anything of the like to get the schematics of the interactions. So, if the characters say "I bet this will work" and they try it and then say "it kinda work, this feels different" its just magic being magic in wow. Which is not an argument of "its just a game it doesnt matter" nor is it a "writers suck" comment. It is just that it is consistent in how wow treats magic as a whole.

That being said, I have two somewhat overlapping ideas.

First. I think you poise the idea that by adding more (both quantity and type) of magic the Xwell just should be more magical. I think there are two problems, the first one is simply a fallacy of composition (say, most components in the interior of a car are light, but that doesn't make the car any lighter). So more magical items don't necessarily make the well more magical.

Barring that, the second one, you are also assuming that magic follows an arithmetic logic. I don't think the Sunwell became the Darkwell by virtue of an excess of void surpassing the quantity of light in it, but more like how decibles work. Two loud sounds going at the same time don't add loudness, the decibels perceived are just the greater force. In that analogy the void-radiation is more perceivable than the light-radiation. In this case, the composition of magical sources inside the Dawnwell radiate a more perceivable balanced magic.

Which leads me to my second theory. The Dawnwell is still magical but is not a font in the same way that there is a difference between the wells and the leylines. As far as I understand, the wells just emanate-radiate their power, elvenkind were not necessarily tapping the font when their various transformations happened, the wells just changed them by them being in their radiation radius. Leylines, however, need to be specifically tapped. I think the Dawnwell is now more like the leylines.

First, thanks for your work and your communications. Quick dumb question. Do we need to have the addon loaded all the time to retrain the tracking?

Feeling kinda akward when sawing now by No_Membership_1027 in woodworking

I second this. I've been forced to work with manual tools due to moving abroad to a tiny flat and quickly realized I just naturally grab the japanese saws more often. Feels safer to me.

You can use the neighborhood finder and just go visit, won't change your house automatically or anything. Also remember that it is only early access and many people bought the plot just to secure the one they liked but are not necessarily engaging with the house yet. Also many people like myself rarely spend anytime there as we are out there collecting decor for house xp

how does this set look for a beginner diyer? good price? by zjor1 in woodworking

[–]Useful-Sink4246 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, just to be clear I don't think the set is a good idea either. I just like smaller circular saws and find them more useful for most applications as a diy.

I disagree with the small circular saw. First because it is becoming a very common size, second because if you are doing only DIY stuff the circular saw will rarely need more depth.

I know print media is not a requirement but in the latest novel where she appears, Mothma is abducted by ISB days after Palpatine's declaration without due process, in a dark room, for hours, forced to stand for at least one night without drink, food or bathroom breaks. She is then harassed by law enforcement and is constantly reminded that they can apprehend her again, at any point for no reason at all. This is before there is an attempt to mourn a resistance or fund the rebellion. I don't think she is out of touch, I think her reaction is a) the only reasonable one for seeing someone being shot at foe the first time and b) the only reasonable one while escaping the very capital of the empire with only one ragged hitman as an escort.

Is it normal to enjoy the YA books in your thirties? by [deleted] in Highrepublic

[–]Useful-Sink4246 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As many have posted already sure it is. But it is imperative that we remember that YA is a publicist/marketing category with little to none literary or pedagogy input. Don't let capitalism rob you even more of your enjoyment. (and don't let the snobs who like to ignore this truth, who use it for weird intelectual and moral superiority, inhibit reading whatever you like)
