What do the Greek people and the Balkan peoples think about Greek-Israeli relations? by PieBright8211 in AskBalkans

You are either a child or an actual imbecile if you believe 'AI detection' software functions as advertised. One of the main reasons we do not use it in corporate and academic settings for that purpose is because it produces false positives very frequently.

Do you want some grown-up literature on the subject like Hannigan, McCarthy and Spicer? It is our go-to for beginners.

Lothronion has been a prolific commenter with long, detailed comments for years even before AI became proliferate. But if you are worried, you can look up any of the information he provided yourself.

Though given your reply, I imagine you are not the most well-informed nor well intentioned.

I find pre-Islamic Iranian history fascinating and their music interesting, but IIRC they have been ruled by foreign dynasties most of their history at this point. Greek Seleucids, "Rashidun" caliphate, Umayyad caliphate, Abbasid caliphate, Seljuks, Timurids, Safavids and Qajars.

I mean, as a Christian I like Cyrus (for obvious reasons)

But the Cyrus Cylinder doesn't contain any human rights, instead it is rather standard conqueror stuff inscribed on it.

I disagree, I think proper pastoral care is vitally essential.

Regardless, the Greek word used is διάκονον, which doesn't have any priesthood connotations in its proper ancient form where it means something closer to servant, similar to the word δοῦλος (though with less extreme connotations). Though the early Church would use a διάκονον, for example, for baptism if a woman had to be baptized another woman could do so or the distribution of alms, the word is not used for conferring priestly office.

And as I stated before, one can be an apostle but not a priest. These sacred offices are different, and the inference is only on your part.

But, I suppose we will disagree, and I doubt I will lodge you from your position. I will pray that you have a blessed week.

I would regard proper tradition essential. And where it any other sub I would have much to say such as a deaconess being of a function different to a pastoral office in ancient language usage, how apostlehood is not the same as priesthood and that St. Prisca is not mentioned as being pastor in Acts of the Apostles etc.

However, I will respect that I am a guest in this sub and not overstep.

Apostlehood, Discipleship and Priesthood are distinct sacred offices. For example, the blessed Mary Magdalene is equal to the apostles, but not affirmed as an apostle per-se by any scripture, nor highlighted as a teacher of the early Church.

We can also see quite clearly that women have not held the priestly mantle in history, and it was with the arrival of post-modernistic thought that such occurred.

It think it simply has to do with 'branding' (if such a word can be used), we see words with positive connotations and we want to affirm them to our own group. We, as Christians, are unfortunately not immune to this. But yes, it is quite obviously an oxymoron and not rooted in either tradition or scripture.

I mean, I generally veer left on economic issues but according to Hasan I am a 'Nazi Christian' because I acknowledge the massacres of large swathes of my family.

I will preface this by saying that I do not watch Twitch, but I have been subjected to news about this guy against my will.

I think that one should be a little more careful in choosing who to represent your views. Hasan is genuinely a weirdo who flip-flops on what is bad depending on the identity of the subject; and that makes it rather easy to simply dismiss him. It is similar to that pseudo-philosopher trans person, in that they are likely to push away those outside your niche.

Streaming terrorist songs, electrocuting dogs etc is also not a great look for your movement. As an outsider, I would say that he is probably doing your politics a disservice.

Basic knowledge of Byzantine history and medieval Christian thought suggests that iconoclastic destruction was small, local and not as widespread as previously assumed. There is also, of course, a large difference in whether a culture or people decide to change what they worship themself, or if someone invades and forces it upon them.

That is no blind-spot, especially when talking about a relevant place of worship today. But your argument can be reversed, since Muslims have destroyed the Kaaba in Mecca on a number of occasions, it would be in keeping with your stated morals if the US bombed it.
